December 30, 2013 - New Year's Eve on the Disney Magic

Hello all -

We just booked the triple threat, too! We are going to be on the Magic from Dec 22 until January 2. I am soooooo excited!

I am looking forward to getting to you know you all in the next 8 months and sharing the excitement with you as our sail date approaches!

I will be traveling with my DH - Dennis, DS - Scott (23), DDIL - Amanda (24), DD - Shelby (21), DS - Daniel (15), and DS Darrin (15).

We would like to join the FE if it is not too late!

That's great that you will be doing three! I'm just sad that so far, anyway, no one's b2bs are the same as ours. We will be on Dec 30 and Jan 2. Too much family at home to be gone over Christmas :-)

You're not too late for the FE at all! So far, there will be 4 cabins. I guess it is time, though for those of us who are part of the 4 to decide whether we want to set the FE groups at 10 and make as many of them as needed. For a 3 day cruise, this seems reasonable to me, but what do the rest of you think?

I like the idea of 10 cabins, and if I had known before I changed my airfare I coulda added 1 more cruise :rotfl2: I was sad to see it went to Key West cause somehow we haven't made it there yet, but now my niece is getting married in Key Largo this summer so getting to Key West is going to happen!

Yeah, we were originally planning to go up to Orlando after we got off of the New Year's cruise on the Magic, and do another three day on the Dream, which also leaves on Jan 2. But when we found out the Magic was going to Key West and we would not have a completely duplicate trip if we just did a b2b on the Magic, we decided to do it that way instead. We are going on the Fantasy next week, and come December, the Magic will be the only Disney ship we haven't been on, so we are excited about that too!

I am super excited! While I don't want to wish the summer away, I love to have the cruise to look forward to!

We cruised on the Magic's 1st Christmas cruise in 1998, then popped back for 2008 (ten year anniversary) Christmas Cruise, and have been to Alaska on the Wonder and on the Fantasy for New Years last year. We lost my mom this month and she always cruised with us (she was 80) and I just decided that I didn't want to be home for the holidays and the kids all jumped at the Holidays at Sea again!

We have two cabins on this cruise so we will take 2 slots for the FE, I hope that isn't a problem. I like the idea of a small group too! On our New Year's Fantasy cruise it took forever to delivery the FE gifts, not because of the number of cabins but just because everyone was so spread out.

I am so gonna relax!!! :) I don't even care where the boat is docking it is all about kicking back and relaxing for me on this trip! :cool2:

I'm so sorry to hear about your mom...I completely understand about wanting to be away for the holidays...it was hard the first year we lost my dad. Now it's been 10 years...

So glad you are doing the FE! I'm about to start working on mine!!!

Have a great one!

I will probably work on my FE stuff when school starts back up in the fall because we aren't going to be home much this summer, but I'm already looking at ideas that even my craft challenged self can do lol.

Peterpan47, I totally missed wishing you a fabulous cruise this week! For some reason I thought you left this Saturday! I hope you have been having an amazing cruise!

I know you left the week before we did, and I completely missed saying Bon Voyage to you too. You must have been on an Eastern, because we were on a Western :-) I know you had a great time, though, and we did too! I was so busy trying to get ready to go that I thought I was going to lose my mind! We did manage to get out on time for our 6:55 AM flight on Thursday the 8th. We went in to the Allstar Music Resort on the Magical Express (luckily, our room was ready at 3:00 PM) and then went over to Downtown Disney for dinner. We were very tired, though, and pretty much just came back to the room to get a good night's rest before we went over to MK on Friday. We closed that one down, and left early the next morning for the port. What room did you have on the Fantasy? We were in 6688 on the back of the ship.

We rebooked for an Eastern in Nov 2014. We actually booked the first Eastern sailing that will go to San Juan, Puerto Rico. You'll have to tell me how your Eastern one was. We went so many places on shore excursions on last week's cruise that we decided that 3 days at sea on the Eastern cruise instead of the two we had on the Western will be very relaxing. We saw Mayan ruins in Costa Maya and Cozumel and they were amazing! In Grand Cayman we took a sort of glass bottom boat (it was really a submarine like the one they have in Disneyland :-) tour and saw lots of fish and turtles. Weather was hot, but we still enjoyed ourselves. We also ate at Palo for the first time ever, and enjoyed it very muc. We got back on Sat. and went directly to Universal IOA to Harry Potter World. Came home on Sunday. It was a great trip.

I love having another to look forward to (in this case, 3 to look foward to :-) Now I just have to update my signature for this page :-)

We have room 5650 and my stepson and his family are in 5652. Ours is Western also, but I did book the New Years fantasy for next year which goes to San Juan.

I'm so dingy, I looked at the signature bannerthat said one day till your cruise and like an idiot assumed that was the day after you wrote your post! Geez! Well, you will love the Western cruise. I hope you will get to see the Ruins. The guides are very into what they do and give a great history of what you are seeing.

Lol, it's ok. No ruins for us this time, we have a 2 year old in the group. I want to go see them when nick is older anyway, I don't think he would appreciate them much right now (10).

Well, have a great time! It's nearly 11 over there, so it won't be long until you wake up and gt on the ship. I'm envious :-) I didn't want to get off! Have a great time!!

Thanks! It's been a long day but I have no idea how any of us are actually gonna sleep lol.

Denise,
Would you send me a PM with your two groups' infomation so I can update the FE list? The first page of the thread has the information I was putting in the list. Thanks much.

Also, I wanted to tell you, we did our FE on our cruise last week by delivering the 26 cabins in two groups. One day we did the front of the ship and the next day we did the back of the ship. It turned out to be pretty easy and not too time consuming. On the wonder we delivered by decks on different days going to the front and the back of the ship to deliver each deck and taking about 4 days to get them all out. This seemed much easier by just staying in the back one day and going to the front the next day.

Hey Mary and Danielle,
Have either of you cruised in Dec? Our Jan DVC member cruise last month was warm and sunny, but alot of people said that was not typical. Just curious.

Have either of you been off in Nassau? I did a Carnival cruise years ago and thought it was dirty and sad...we may just stay on the boat til Castaway (which by the way is where Lexi wants to live!)

Tracy

Tracy,
I thought I responded to this posting, but I can't find where I did, so if this is a duplicate, I'm sorry. I have not cruised in December, but we have in January for the Dream Inaugural. It wasn't cold at all. It was a little rainy, but even in the rain it wasn't cold. Also, we have been to Nassau three times. I wasn't really impressed with anything except the tour we took on our first cruise. We went up to this very old fort (1700s as I recall) that was very interesting, and the guide's explanations of what we saw in the city as well as everywhere else he drove us was very interesting. This time I think we are going to go over and walk around Atlantis because we haven't done that yet. If that doesn't take too long, we'll be back on the ship too :-)

Please let me know if you decide you want me to put you on the FE list. I have moved it to a private spot so that people not in this group will not have access to it. The people who have joined so far want to keep it to 10, and I think that is a good number. I really feel like we have discussed this already, but I couldn't find it when I dug through all the posts. So, if we have, I'm sorry again, for the repetition.

Mary

OK folks,
For some reason, DisBoards will not let me post the URL for the Google Docs FE List. For those of you who have email access through DisBoards, I have already sent you the Google Docs link to the FE. If your email was not enabled in DisBoards, I sent you an email asking you to provide me with an email address so I can send you the FE Google Docs link. I will not put your email addresses on the FE List, but I will need a way to send you the link to the FE List.

Thanks much,
Mary

Tanya,
Did you have a good time on the Fantasy? I know you must have! I have been trying to find time to put together a trip report, but I can't even find time to update the FE list for this cruise :) I guess we're not in a real hurry, and it will get done. Sorry for the delay, though.
