~ D23 Expo Aug./2013 ~

Question for D23 Expo veterans - will Disney offer a discount to Expo attendees for DL / DCA park tickets?

I'm planning on being at the Expo Fri - Sun, and then spending a few days at the parks afterwards. I'm leaving open the option to attend the parks during the nights of the expo, in addition to three days afterwards.

I'm leaning towards a 5 day park hopper ticket, but if an Expo discount is available, or an 'after hours' discount, if one exists, should be available ... well, that would be a viable option.

I never left the Expo. There is so much to see and do you really don't have time to run into the parks. Plan for time before the Expo or after. :tink:

Oh, I don't plan on leaving the Expo during the day. I'm just wondering if it's a viable option for after 6 PM.

This will be my first D23 Expo and I can't wait. When might the detailed schedule be announced?

I remember getting an after hours pass to go to Disneyland during the first one. Had an annual pass last time so I had to get a blockout ticket. That said, there really is no time to go to the parks during expo hours. As for hotels, I rather book directly with the hotels so I can cancel a room if needed without penalties.

Thanks for the additional information.

I have a four night reservation at the Marriott, and I'll call to tentatively add a fifth night. I have a confirmed reservation after the D23 Expo at the Grand Californian (DVC side), with two nights booked and one night on wait list. I'll cancel my fifth night at the Marriott if the wait list comes through.

The Expo starts early and ends late. The "Dick Van Dyke and the Vantastics" show started a bit late, and went way over their scheduled time to stop. Your time will be so immersed in Disney you won't believe it. :tink:

I did leave the expo at night. I think it all comes down to if the late programming is something you're into. It was also my first time out to Disneyland so I really wanted every minute in the park I could get. I think I spent a lot of Sunday in the park because the majority of it was marvel(?) or closed early. I also think I headed to the park Friday night when they showed lion king and had the van tastics... I'll get some flack but I've never been a dick van dyke fan.

That said I'm still going back because I had an amazing time last time. I may actually do the backstage magic trip from the 4th-9th just figuring out logistics.

Like everyone else said, I only went to the parks in the days before and after the Expo. The schedule is so jam packed, you will be either busy or exhausted!

Are you talking about the Adventures by Disney Backstage Magic? We did that the first year it was offered and it was just amazing and magical.

Just got an email from the Disney Conventionears services and they are offering discount tickets and twilight tickets during the expo. I thought it was a fake email but it wasn't... :rotfl2:

Thanks for all of the information posted here. I just read over the posts after not visiting the board for several days. It sounds like the event is really amazing. I'm excited now!

I'm not sure how many Sorcerer's Packages were sold, but I do know someone that is on the wait list after trying to get one right when they went on sale. I think they were sold out in minutes.

I got that email too! I'll start reviewing my options.

One quick observation - looking at ticket options via the official DL website, it shows that the 3, 4 and 5 PH tickets include one "magic morning" early admission (offered on Tue, Thurs and Sat). The multi-day PH tickets via the D23 Expo link don't seem to offer that. Am I reading that correctly?

I'm used to the WDW paradigm of resort guests having access to EMH. During my trip for D23, I'll be at a non-Disney hotel and then the GC. It sounds like if I buy the regular DL tickets, I can use one MM regardless of where I'm staying.

If the Expo discount includes this option, then that seems like an easy choice.

What will be the impact on the park due to this event - during it and for a few days after? I read it is something like 40,000 people.

Has anyone ever stayed at the Marriott? I keep finding much better rates for that than the Hilton and I believe they're both right next to the convention center

Thanks

I bought two of these tickets. Cost me $1500/each! As far as I understand, there were less than 200 of these tickets available.

I'm finally planning plane flights. I'm not really sure what dates to pick. I have the Sorcerer Package and see that there is a "pre-Expo" visit the day before the Expo opens and also a Farewell Reception on the last day which is the 11th.

I really want to take advantage of these opportunities. Does anyone have any ideas as to when to arrive and depart? I'm thinking I may need to fly in on the 7th in order to be there the 8th (day before) and not fly back until the 12th (day after). Any thoughts from other previous Expo Sorcerer ticket holders?

Thanks.

Depending when the activities start on the 8th, you could always fly in that morning and save a night's hotel. I am definitely staying until the 12th.

Thanks. I just booked the room at the Hilton! WhooHoo!

I'm guessing I'll just fly in on the 7th and fly out Monday the 12th. If we are early, I guess we could go to DL for a bit. :)

Is there a rough schedule out. I could cut costs if I leave on Sunday night instead of Monday morning.

When is the schedule usually released?
