2013 Dis Exclusive BackstageMagic Adventure 6/9 - 6/14/13

Who am I? My name is Ish
On my hand I have a dish.
I have this dish to help me wish.
When I wish to make a wish
I wave my hand with a big swish swish.
Then I say, "I wish for fish!"
And I get fish right on my dish.
So...
If you wish to make a wish,
you may swish for fish with my Ish wish dish.

Anyone see the merchandise catalog for the Tiki-Room 50th anniversary. Link is at the bottom of this article:

I posted it here because there are a half-dozen items in here designed by Kevin Kidney and Jodi Dailey. (items #13 - #18)

That and I want to know how the hell I'm going to get some of these items without resorting to overpaying on e-bay!? I want that Rongo Bowl and also the Jerry Fulton print - and maybe the Hawaiian shirt (we actually have hawaiian shirt Friday at work in the summer). I can't go back to DL 2 weeks later. Any suggestions?

I know one thing you can do is email or ring Disney to get merchandise posted to you, information below. You will need to pay for shipping costs.

Disneyland offers a mail order service called Disneyland DelivEARS. They will attempt to fill orders for any merchandise that is available in shops around the parks. To expedite the process please provide as complete a description as possible, including the name of the shop, color, and size.

Their toll-free number is 800-362-4533. Phone lines are open from 8:00-5:00 Monday-Friday and 8:00-4:00 on Saturday. (All times are Pacific time.)

Did you still want to organise a reservation for Carthay Circle on Friday night?

I'm also keen on doing the chef's counter at Napa Rose on this trip but I need to figure out what time is available. It will probably have during my extra days as the ABD trip doesn't have much free time.

Well, I dropped out of the conversation on Thursday before it finished.

Let me ask everyone:
My wife and I were thinking of eating at the Carthay Circle restaurant on Friday night. I know Napa Rose is supposed to be excellent, but we really enjoyed our lunch there last year and loved the ambiance, so wanted to go back. A few others on chat last Thursday mentioned interest in doing this as well.

So, I don't remember who suggested it, but I volunteered to get an ADR (or whatever they call it there) for a group. Most agree that getting ADRs way in advance at DLR isn't really necessary - but I was thinking if we end up with a group of 10 or more, it might still be worth booking in advance by a couple of weeks rather than try and get it the same day.

If you are interested, post that you want to join in. I was thinking around 6 PM so that dinner could be done in time for any nighttime shows anyone might want to see. Make sure to let me know how many in your "group" (mostly couples I guess) and names as well, in case two people from the same group both post yes, so I don't double count. After a little while, I'll post a list of all the names I've noted to confirm. Probably will wait until around June 1st to call anyways.

My cousin, Cheryl, and I will most likely want to join the group for dinner on that Friday. So count us for two. Thanks for organizing things, Pete!

Well I'm in. Just myself of course and it's Rory.

Should be able to get a fastpass for World Of Colour by having dinner. I have a feeling I will want to see the show again.

Assuming they haven't change it since last year, dinner can get you a FP for the 2nd showing of World Of Color. I would have to look that up.

I think this is something my mom and I would like to do. I think it would be cool to all come together one last time. We are Kim and Mary Ann.

Sign us up for dinner Friday as well. 2 of us Melanie & Eric. I was thinking the same thing as Rory will probably want to see World of Color twice.

And by the way..........in 2 months from today we will be headed to California with the adventure starting the next day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:cool1:

Lori aka BriarRosie wants to come too! She's at WDW right now & asked me to post for her. She's a party of one.

OK - I count 13 for dinner so far. Need at least one more. 13 is bad juju, man! :earseek:

So far:
Peter (skier_pete) and Ulana
Rory (roryh22)

Angie (ymxbfalcon)
Kim (kgibbler20) and Mary Ann

If there is still room me and my mom would like to sign up for the carthay circle dinner on friday.

This vacation needs to come ASAP. I am so eager to get back out to California!

Hi there

Christine and I would like to join in as well if not too late.

I'm not sure what its like in the US but here when we book they will need to know there is a person in a wheelchair in the group.

Thanks

Matt - if I got it right from looking at old posts - your mom is Nancy (Starwood), correct? I'm trying to use this as an opportunity to learn people's names - cause I have no idea how to pronounce ymxbfalcon or chropistopy. Besides, if I wait until the trip starts I will never do it because I am so bad at it.

Far from too late - can't book anything until 60 days out from date, which would be April 15th, but anyways I was going to wait a few weeks to make sure everyone had a chance to join in that wanted to. I am not sure how they will handle a large group, so I won't wait too close to the date.

I will also mention the wheelchair. I know for a fact (because we used it) that there is an elevator up to the main dining floor, which is on the second floor.

So far, an "intimate" group of 17:
Peter (skier_pete) and Ulana (ukeemom)
Rory (roryh22)
Christy (chropistopy) and Cheryl (cherylbug)
Angie (ymxbfalcon)
Kim (kgibbler20) and Mary Ann
Melanie (Disneygrl36) and Eric
Lori (BriarRosie)
Lisa (Lee Disney) and John
Matt (Darthvader92) and Matt's Mom
Toni (Disneykiwi) and Christine (brightie)

Hi Folks,

I have some BIG NEWS!!!!

I have just gotten word from ABD that there will be some changes made to the Backstage Magic Adventure.

First, the Disneyland Welcome Dinner will be moved to the Big Thunder Ranch inside the Magic Kingdom.

Second, and this is BIG, Day 5 will start with a Character Breakfast at Storyteller's Cafe and then into DCA prior to park opening for an experience at Soarin, a spin on Toy Story Mania and a backstage experience at Cars Land and "FastPass service to a select attraction".

Finally, your Farewell Dinner will now be held at the Carthay Circle Restaurant followed by VIP seating for World of Color.

This means that the Steakhouse 55 dinner and breakfast at Goffy's Kitchen have been replaced.

The Farewell Breakfast is still being held at Storyteller's Cafe.

These are awesome additions.

This may change some of your planning.

Kevin - those are absolutely awesome additions. But you know what this means - we are going to have another discussion about what clothes to wear on chat this Thursday! :lmao:

Actually, the breakfast at Storyteller's twice in a row seems a bit odd, but otherwise I love all those additions.

It does probably change the plans for the group dinner we were working on for Friday Night.

For those that are interested in it, here's my two cents:

We can either just go back to just having dinner "on our own" or change to a different restaurant. As I see it, the prime restaurant choices would be Napa Rose, Steakhouse 55, or Catal. Ulana and I would probably lean towards Steakhouse 55 because we love steak. (I'm grilling steak as I type.) Napa Rose, while probably the best food, seems like not the best place for a big group like this and I admit the menu prices scare me a bit. Overall, though I think it makes sense to get everyone's opinion and see if there ends up being a "majority rule".

Kevin - would appreciate recommendations from you as well! I haven't been to any of these places, so basing it all on reputation for those picks.
