September 9, 2013 - WONDERful re-positioning trip to LA

We are also at Main Dining. My mom thought late dining was too late. Not sure when she is planning to eat Mickey Bars with the early dining.

I don't know, seems like all you do is eat! I do know that on Pirate Night they had a huge buffet of food out on the deck but I was so stuffed from dinner I only had a crepe with some ice cream.

Haven't finalized transportation to Van, from San Pedro to Desert Inn & suites, from hotel to LAX or Bellingham home.

We don't have a reliable vehicle to transport all 4 of us and our luggage to Vancouver and home from Bellingham.

I should have checked to see if anyone needed DL tickets. Flight Centre had a good deal on them last week. I bought from them last year when they had a sale.

I looked for DL tickets and couldn't find any deals for September through Flight Centre.

We haven't booked our return flight yet. Waiting for Alligiant to post their Sept flights.

They are listed under theme park/attractions if I recall correctly. It ended last Tuesday. I didn't wait for my Flight Centre TA, I booked them with another TA at Flight Centre.

I booked our flights a month or so ago with Alaska. We are flying into Bellingham, closer than Vancouver.

So where exactly to do you Mickey Bars on the cruises. My DD11 has only gotten them at dinner, but I have heard they are available, but never saw where.

:banana::banana::banana: We're booked! :banana::banana::banana:

Just checking in - Myself and DH just finalized our booking. This will be our third Disney cruise - our last was on the Wonder last September (California Coast - Pixar cruise).

To address a couple of things I've read on this forum -

We did the FE for the first time last year and had a blast! The person running it capped it at a specific date and we ended up with about 15-20 cabins participating. Enough people wanted to do it after that date that they set up a second one. I think it had around the same number of cabins.

:mickeyjum: Mickey bars from room service are the best! Makes a great snack anytime but especially just before bedtime. And they're free! (but please tip your room service person)

Also, we're planning on spending a day or two in Vancouver before the cruise. We've never been before so can anyone recommend stuff to do and/or a good (affordable) hotel to stay at?

TIA

Hi everyone! :wave2:

My name is Vanessa and I just booked this cruise today! I'm sooo excited! My family and I are from Southern California. I'll be cruising with my hubby, my 14 year old and 3 year old daughters. They'll be be 15 and 4 at the time of this cruise.

This will be our second Disney Cruise.
We did the 7 day Eastern Caribbean :beach: cruise about 3 years ago. It was the BEST vacation EVER!

We are SOOO ready for this cruise! :cool1:

Thanks for the phone number and contact, Susan!!

Tia, we live in Surrey (about 45 minutes from Vancouver) so I can't give you a good hotel to stay in but I can tell you some of our favourite places.

1) Granville Island - beautiful scenery, fun little shops and the market. There's a park for kids at the back of the market. This will take up a half-day at most.
2) Stanley Park - LOVE, LOVE, LOVE! There's a train, petting zoo, water park. the Sea-Wall and of course, the aquarium. If you do the aquarium, that will be a good, full day.
3) Gastown. This is a fun, historic part of downtown pretty close to the cruise terminal. Again, just some fun shops!
4) If you like shopping - try out Robson, Granville and West 4th streets.
5) By the airport, there's a really fun walk - Iona Beach - it's a jetty that goes 4 km out into the ocean parallel to the airport so as you walk planes are taking off beside you and coming in for a landing right over your head. This is a must-do at least once a year with our kids. This walk will take you a few hours.

Hope that helps. There's a lot of fun stuff to do that I didn't mention. www.findfamilyfun.com is a great resource for things to do.

In Vancouver? A reasonably priced hotel? I'm not sure those two words go together in the same sentence. That being said my husband and I have Priceline a hotel a couple of times with great success! I would suggests that. We've never bid more than $75usd a night and had AMAZING 4 star hotels but you have to be willing to chance which hotel you get' good luck!

Is there a fish extender for this cruise and how do I find it?

Not yet... One of the ladies was offering to start one up once her cruise in the spring was over.

Hi again to all! Wow! It has been a little while since I clicked onto this thread and it is so cool to see how much it has grown!

I was listening to some of Disney's Greatest hits this afternoon and it really sunk in for aproximately the 100th time, omg this is really happening!

A Disney Cruise and then a week in Disney Land! A dream vacation that I didn't think would happen for at least a little while longer is really happening :rotfl:

My parents and I are so excited! Besides the Cruise itself, I can't wait for June to come along so we plan a little more. Gah time is going so slow but so fast at the same time!:woohoo:

I am counting down the minutes to June also!!! Can't wait to get started on checking in and booking excursions!!! Makes me feel a little closer to Sept :)

My family has finally agreed and we are set to board our very first DCL cruise this September. I CAN'T WAIT!!!! :yay::yay::yay: In addition to myself and my DH we will be traveling with our 3 year old twins.

Anybody have suggestions on things that are on the MUST DO LIST?
Someone mentioned to me something called a Fish Extender. What is that?

A fish extender is something you hang off the fish by your stateroom that has pockets in it for each person in your stateroom. People who are part of the fish extenders have "secret Santa-like" gifts dropped in. I have seen both one person matched with another like with Secret Santas and you trade several gifts and I have seen it where you all exchange once with each other. They are usually small things that are local to where you are from. I have seen homemade and bought items. My kids loved checking for something. Honestly, there was a lot of "stuff" to bring home too though. Some very nice stuff though too. One person made door hangers for everyone. I am sure there are pictures somewhere for what the fish extender actually is though. People make them and they get them made.

How old are your girls? What area do you live in? I'm in Lakewood, so we are at DLR quite a bit too. Welcome!

This is so neat to find folks who live local to where we do (Paramount/Bellflower area) that will be on board and are DLR regulars too :)
