Thanks! Can I have the front desk us the Poly call a taxi for us if that's what we decide?

Bell services by the front desk can. Or if you ask pretty please you may find one nice enough to take you over to the POR in a car from Poly's Motorpool.

Which room were you in? I was in the same wing.

No clue. Oak Manor, second floor, if facing river on the left side in the exact middle of the courtyard. It was perfect.

Ohh ok we were in 9274 and that one shot of the corner room looked familiar. I know they all look the same corner rooms that is. But the reflections in the glass and what I could see when the blinds are open.

That photobucket link contains lots of pics around POR from our Sept 2012 trip. Also has shots of the Royal Guest Room Garden View...which ended up being riverview basically. There are a few shots showing all of our stuff maxing out the room too. We had three adults, and one ten year old, with 9 days worth of stuff.

Thank you for sharing those pictures! I'm having a crappy day and those beautiful pictures brought a smile to my face! Only 62 days until our first visit to POR. :cheer2:

we are booked in a river view. is that more expensive than a preferred.thinking of paying for a upgrade to a preferred to be near main building. and south bus stop

River view is more expensive than preferred, but only a few dollars a night. Are you four or five people? If five, two out of the three buildings for river view for five guests are already preferred buildings. If you have four, you could be in the river view rooms over in the mansions too. If your main interest is to be close to the main building, and you have four in your room, you may want to switch to preferred. But Andre says all of the river view rooms are in pretty decent locations. If you are along the river, you won't be in one of the far flung rooms.

Thanks for sharing those pictures! We are booked in a GV RGR for August and these have gotten me so excited! Did you like your location in Oak Manor? I am thinking of requesting to be in that building rather than Parterre.

What building is this? I love the corner room. We are booked for a Royal Guest Room with a garden view in November.

We are set to arrive at POR a week from tomorrow. Yay! I sent my request fax in today. What I'm really hoping is that they will put my parents in a building near us as we have a RR and they are in a regular room. What is the likelihood that we will be in buildings next to or near each other? Do you think this was too early to fax in my request? Thanks Venom and Andre for all your advice on this thread! It's one of my favorite night time reading places!

Thank you I checked the maps. There are 27 in the Mansion buildings.

Andre, that last room you stayed in, was it a royal room or a normal riverside?

First off let me start by saying thanks to everyone here, especially Andre and Venom. I have read every post on this thread and gotten so much info. My father is taking myself, my husband and our 5and six year old sons with my brother, 6 year old nephew, 7 year old nephew and 5 year old niece to POR the first week in June. Currently, we have two Royal rooms for the families and a king size river view for my dad. We don't have to be in connected or adjoining rooms, but would like to be in the same building. My father will have an ECV rental to park in the room. What do you think of these arrangements?

Also, we have dining reservations at the following for breakfast. What is the most reasonable way to get to them and he much time do I need to plan?

Thanks for any advice. I am the only female and no ne is helping with planning. On top of it I am a first grade teacher who has to have everything planned for pure survival.

Oops forgot the reservation info.

Sunday rope drop at Magic Kingdom
Monday 7:30 breakfast ADR at Kona/ Poly
Tuesday. 8:10 breakfast ADR at 1900/ Grand Flor
Wednesday. Rope drop at Hollywood Studios and try to get kids in Jedi Training
Thursday. Rope drop at Animal Kingdom

THANKS AGAIN :)

It was a royal room he told me the room number a while back and it is a RGRVR.

Thanks. What we would really like is a room with a good River frontage and hopefully a corner! I am trying to figure out which of the two room types are going to give me a better chance. It looks like the regular river views almost have more corner units than the royal rooms in the mansions because the royal rooms seem to be in the long sections where the regular rooms seem to be more in the 'fingers' that come out.........sorry don't know the technical terms and we have never been there before to explain it better.
:thumbsup2

It's my understanding from the maps on Andre's great site (portorleans.org) is that the Royal Guest rooms are in two of the mansion buildings (as in those two buildings have ONLY Royal Guest rooms). So if his king room isn't Royal Guest (don't know if they make kings as those wouldn't work for us), he'd be in another building.

Happy planning! (I hear you on doing all the planning!! From a fellow teacher and fellow Heather)

When sending a building request

Do you send the building numbers from the map on 1st post of this thread?

Also after you sending a fax.. Does disney contact you? Letting you know if it has been filled?

Indeed,

There are NO Royal Guest rooms that are King beds. So if you have 2 RGRs booked and 1 king bed booked you will be in different buildings. There are 3 possible solutions to this, you could ask to be in an adjacent building, You would be in the RGR mansions and he would be in the other Mansion building.

You could Switch his room to an RGR room, he will have 2 beds though, but I don't know if that is a huge issue, could even look into and accessible RGR room.

You could switch to a non RGR room, but if you are going to do this, make sure to change the selection on your booking so you get the refund of the cost !!!!

Wish there were KING RGRs ... My wife and I would love one, I think they are missing the boat on these a little, but hey, we aren't going to complain about a non RGR king at POR at DISNEY !! !:)

Hope you have a magical trip, sounds like it will be a great family vacation !
