Decorating your resort room?

I did not read through all of these posts (no time, we ar leaving in a few hours for POFQ) so I am not sure if this was already discussed. For Christmas my kids received markers that are specifically for windows, do you think they could use them in our room or would that not be a good idea? TIA!

Has long as you clean the windows before you leave, it should be ok.

There have been several reports on this thread that guests who have used the window markers have, at best, been asked to remove them from the windows, and at worst, been threatened with a charge. I believe the consensus was that while you may be using markers designed for windows, other people might see it and use non-window safe markers.

Hi everyone!

Well my trip is just a couple days away, and am so excited to get to Disney and to decorate my door and window at POP on Weds. :cloud9:

I've got some really fun decorations.
I'm taking enough that I can make changes everyday.

A friend also made a Happy Birthday sign for me to hang on my birthday! :thumbsup2 So glad that I have artistic friends :)

I will take lots of pics, but going to have to have someone teach me how to post them online here on the boards when I get back.

If you are at POP and see my room plse say Hi!
(I'm going to ask for a 1st floor in bld 1 in 50's or building 10 in 70's)
I know I'm not guaranteed but going to ask.

Changing everyday never thought of doing that:cool1:, that's a awesome idea

For those of you who decorate your windows and doors while at Disney, what do you do? I read on disboards about someone who put a dry erase board on their door. Has anyone done that? Does it get good response? I wondered what was allowed and not allowed.

Visiting in 24 days!!!

I make a scrapbook page and at the top I ask people to sign it and ask them is they DIS! Our mousekeeper left us a lovely message too. We got a good amount of signatures. I also did this they year my husband and I celebrated our anniversary and people wished us a happy anniversary on it. I have also done this when I graduated with my masters degree. I had a lot of fun with it.

I hope you do too! :lovestruc

We used a dry-erase board several times and did get some good responses on it each time! It definately makes a difference if your door is in a more high-traffic area. We were once in a quiet corner of POFQ and hardly had any response, but then in a much more traveled path and got lots! It's fun to come home at night after a day in the parks or wake up in the morning and see what people write! :goodvibes

I loved using a dry erase board!
I just got back from my 7 day trip...had a 1st floor in building 1 at POP.
Loved coming home each night to see what messages were left.
It was an extra magical treat! :wizard:

I used a dry erase board with magnets so it hung easily on my door, and I bought colored dry erase markers that had a magnet on them so I was able to hang the different colored markers on the door around the board.

You could also buy scrapbook pages at your local craft store, and put magnets on the back to hang on your door. I found some that were Disney themed to use as decorations, but you can have ppl write on those too, and use them as a souvenier of your trip.

I simply took pictures everyday of the messages left and then erased the board for the next day.

I wish I knew how to post pictures on here, then I could share my door and window decorations with you all. :)

Hi everybody!

What are some of the things allowed and not allowed when decorating a window? Or door, room......
Thanks for the help!!!

What is the official name of the DIS Mickey Head paint chip? I know its a lime green color but does it have an official name? I want to make sure I grab the right color for my next trip!

I thought that Disney paint was no longer sold at Home Depot, or did they just switch to a different chip style? In any case, I believe the Mickey Heads disappeared from Home Depot sometime last year....:confused3

Home Depot doesn't carry the Disney line of paints anymore. (Or maybe they do but don't have the Mickey head paint chips anymore.) Sorry.

Bummer! Do you guys know anywhere that might still sell Disney paint? If not, any suggestions for how to find something similarly colored?

I'm pretty sure the paint was Home Depot exclusive, but I may be wrong. It's still sold online, but they don't have a display with paint chips in the store anymore. I read somewhere that they had changed to plain chips too before going away completely.

Maybe I'll just print a lime green Mickey off the computer and hope for the best!

I had this same dilemma a few months ago, went to two Home Depots before I found out! I actually ended up printing a plain black Mickey and used it as an outline to trace on lime green scrapbook paper!

The guy at our Home Depot said that they switched to the plain color chips because so many of the mickey heads were disappearing and the colors were rarely being mixed. Looking at places like Pinterest, I can see where he was right...there are hundreds of posts where people are using dozens and dozens of those Mickey heads for projects, lol.

For those who want to make multiple Mickey heads, there are hole punches available...they can run $10-15 so obviously not worth it if you only want 1 punch or something, but if you're making a countdown or something where you want a whole bunch of them, it may be worth it. The one I have is about an inch and a half.

Edited to add: There are also people on Etsy and ebay that will sell you the punched out figure for a buck or two. Just search "Mickey paper punch". Some let you choose your own color paper, but checking a few this morning I don't see any lime green, but hey you could always ask them!

I am so excited for my Oct and MNSSHP trip, I am staying at POP and drawing out plans for the room and window. I am thinking of deco the door also. I send down my decos with other supply's a week ahead of time so it does not take up luggage room.

I send out ones from my cricket all the time....it's a blessing.

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards

I have never thought about doing this!! I've been to Disney World more times than I can count, and this has never crossed my mind.
We are going with friends and our 1 1/2 year old granddaughter in August. I'm going to make some cute little Mickey heads and put them on the door.
Thanks so much for the idea!!
Is there a reason everyone seems to use the lime green? Or can I use different colors?
