On our September trip a couple years ago, I switched between these and these. LOVE Teva's sandals! We were at Disney for 10 days, and my feet never got sore and I never got blisters. I can't stand wearing shoes when it's really hot out, and the sandals come in handy for any water rides or downpours as they dry so quick and you never have to worry about wet shoes/socks. I'll probably get a new pair of each for our trip this August.

I haven't tried Teva's flip flops. The last time I wore Tevas was in back in the early 90s I think! Maybe I'll have to forgo my Reefs and try them out!

Might have to get those, too. I bought mine in September, those look more "August". :goodvibes

I LOVE the bright lime ones! And the turquoise ones too! I think I might get lime ones! And if I like them maybe I'll get a more muted pair in that style or the style you suggested. I just don't think I can pass up the fun, bright colors! :yay: I am hoping to get into a training at Disney in April so I'd love to have them for the training since we'll spend a lot of time touring and on our feet. Hopefully bright green shoes won't be frowned upon! :confused3

Oh shoes...Oooooh Shoes. I do need a pair of Summer shoes.
I have an old, really old pair of converse thin sole low tops. Which I would buy again, if they were not only available on a Polish web page. :confused3: Oh why Lord?
http://image.ceneo.pl/data/products/4763670/f-converse-delux-lace-ox-500327.jpg
I have an older pair of 3 inch heel Dansko sandals. Whatever I buy I will have to wear throughout next Summer, not just at Disney. So it will be a trip finding the perfect sandal for work and walking miles in Disney. Or a light sneaker I am willing to wear. Maybe I will convert my dollars to euros and get those Chucks!

I wore regular low-top Chucks in Dec and they killed my feet! I don't know that I'll ever trust a pair of Chucks at Disney again! :confused3

I was wiling to convert my dollars to Euros for the Tattoo Ariel shirt from Poland, but they only had an XXXXXXXS left and that just wouldn't work!

I'm also really kicking myself for not getting the Mickey Harrison crocs that look kind of like Toms in December when I finally found them. I think that was a souvenir shopping fail on my part, but I was trying to be frugal!

Totally would like the Mickey & Gang.... Name: Perlonia...... GO TEAM AUGUST!!!:cool1::grouphug::cool1:

HELLOOO!!!

We are visiting the World in August, too. Flying to Orlando Aug 4th, flying home Aug 10th. We will get to Orlando airport a little after 10 am. We are taking our three teenagers, and my hubbys parents are going as well. THey will get to the air port like 25 minutes after we arrive there, so I'm hoping we will be on the Magical Express together!! It's going to be mom & dad's first time there. We are so excited!!!

For me and the hubs, this is our third visit. We went in '09 with the kids for three days- did Magic kingdom and Hollywood Studios. We drove down and drove home. NEVER AGAIN!! :scared1: We stayed at POR and I just ADORE that resort!
August 2012, hubs and I went to he World alone. We spent 5 days there, and did two parks- Animal Kingdom and Epcot. We called it our honeymoon (married 18 years, have never had a vacation alone, and did not have a honey moon). We had so much fun, and were so relaxed. We stayed at Caribbean beach....it was OK, but I like POR better.

So this time we are doing all 4 parks, and we have a meal reservation each day. I am really excited to do some new stuff with the kids, and to go with his parents on their first visit!! We are staying at All Star Movies.

I'll post our ADRs in another post. :wizard:

For those that have been before, what is your hands-down favorite restaurant or favorite dish? For those that haven't, what ADR are you looking forward to the most?

We did O'Hana for dinner last year and WE LOVED IT!!! We even did the dance at the end. Hubby wore a Hawwiian shirt and the performer loved it so much she commented on it and gave him two leis :goodvibes instead of one LOL
We have reservations at O'Hana the first night of our trip. I can't wait to take the kids there.

We also really like the Coral Reef. DID NOT LIKE SHUTTERS AT ALL.

Anyone figure out how to make that time machine yet? We're set to get another 10 cm of snow over the next few days, and I'm dreaming of Florida!

Mine is a tie between Ohana and the filet with mushroom risotto at Le Cellier!

I am most looking forward to eating in the castle with my dd!

I just changed our dates to August 22-30! So happy to be adding on another night and to be back in the August planning group! We're staying at POR. I'm booking ADR's now. So far have:
Aug. 23- 8:45 Ohana
Aug24-8:55 bibbidi bobbidi boutique
Aug 24-4:45 Cindy's Royal table
Aug 25 9:05 tusker house
Aug 26 8:45 chef mickeys
Aug 28 5:45 1900 park fare

I still have 2 table service left. Any suggestions?

Can you tell we like breakfasts? I'm worried we'll miss rope drop though...

I have an ADR on the 1st page for Aug 28 8am that says Trails end but should be 1900 Park Fare. And I added a Rainforest ADR for 8/28 at noon.
I don't know how you handle all the changing SenecaWolf! :worship:

We are officially booked! :cool1: I had been holding off and just lurking here mostly, but now that we are official....let the commenting begin :thumbsup2

Saturday the 17th - Saturday the 24th.
POR Preferred room (we need the 3 beds)
ADRs all booked:

Sat 17th: Via Napoli @ 6:20pm
Tues 20th: Boma @ 6:15pm
Wed 21st: No ADR, but will be eating dinner at AoA Landscape of Flavors
Thur 22nd: Kona @ 10:35am and hoping for the Dessert Party that night
Fri 23rd: Chefs de France @ 12:50pm
Sat 24th: Crystal Palace @ 9:55am

Very excited that this is officially happening...I was originally planning Nov, then Oct, then cancelled altogether....now it is on. Flights are booked...MYW package booked and half paid for...already have $300 in Disney giftcards to help pay for dining (we always do OOP by the way). Mousekeeping envelopes almost done and filled. How what do I do until August??? ;)

Hi all!

Since there wasn't any activity going on in the August 2013 Resorts thread I thought I'd pop in here and join the crowd.

We booked a couple of weeks ago to go August 17th-23rd, just before DD1 goes back to school. We weren't originally planning on coming to Disney at all this year but decided to come when other summer vacation plans weren't cheaper and we got a sweet deal on flights that week. Thanks to being able to partially pay for our flights with miles through Delta I was able to get flights for $167/person! Even to go the week before would've cost nearly $100 more.

This is our third family trip, my sixth trip and my wife's fourth trip. The last two trips were birthday trips for DD1 & DD2. The trip for DD1 was planned with a lot of ADRs and character meals. The trip for DD2 was a surprise (for the kids) and was planned heavily, but executed not so much. Both trips included BBB makeovers and meet and greets with their favorite princesses while made up.

We've learned a lot on both trips and had a lot of fun so when the option to go again came up we jumped on it. Having gone the first week of September before we're pretty aware of what we're dealing with temperature and humidity wise so we've opted to add two things to our trip and take out one other thing.

We'll be adding the water parks option to our tickets and including a break day in the middle of our plans. That day we will hit the water parks and resort pools, sleep in, etc. We're also skipping out on Animal Kingdom this time. The heat and walking wouldn't be the best combination we feel plus the kids don't care much for the attractions there (except DD1 loves Everest.)

I've never been to the water parks so that will be a new experience for all of us. We've hit the local water parks here and I've been to Wet n Wild so I'm interested in seeing the Disney touch that is part of these parks.

Our plan is going to be pretty relaxed. We've booked no ADRs and are going with QS dining to allow us to be flexible in where and when we eat. Our rough outline looks like this:

Saturday - Check in, hit the pool, visit DTD, maybe attempt a walkup at Chef Mickey's and end the night watching Wishes from the Poly beach
Sunday - Magic Kingdom. Have to hit Enchanted Tales with Belle, Barnstormer and Splash Mountain. Just about everything else is gravy. Try to get lunch at Be Our Guest. Maybe a pork shank and LeFou's brew for dinner?
Monday - Hollywood Studios. Toy Story Mania (obviously) is a must. Would like to hit RnR for the first time. ToT is also a like to do. Have to see the Beauty and the Beast show if it is still there. Pizza Planet for lunch or dinner.
Tuesday - Break day/Water Parks. Sleep in. Hit Typhoon Lagoon first. Hit Blizzard Beach if we're feeling particularly froggy. Maybe do laundry that day at the resort as well.
Wednesday - Epcot. The kids want to hit Soarin. DD2 wants to see Belle. Wife and I would like to check out World Showcase some more. Try Test Track if we can.
Thursday - Magic Kingdom. End the trip with the best. See whatever we missed on Sunday and do the favorites over again.
Friday - Fly home.

Since we have 4 visits to the water parks if the heat is on then we may take midday breaks once or twice to hit the water parks too. We also may hit the resort pools midday if we're feeling like the heat is too much.

Right now we're staying at AoA LM but may switch if a promotion comes out that is worthwhile. We stayed there last time and loved it. We've stayed at Pop before as well and enjoyed that too but the wife loves the theming. What I'd really like to get is a free dining promotion that would allow us to move into a suite at AoA, but I doubt that will happen. Can't hurt to pray though right?

DH's August vacation days were approved and I will be contacting our TA tonight to change our Nov trip to an Aug trip! So glad I went ahead and made all our ADRs already just in case we did have change our plans. Here are our plans. We have 2 boys(age 5 and 2) and know we will be spending most of our time in the Magic Kingdom.

Hit the road Friday, 8/23We don't know yet if we are driving all the way or picking up the auto train in VA(we're in NJ). If we drive, we are not driving straight through and plan on stopping overnight somewhere, most likely in North Carolina.

Arrive in Orlando on Saturday, 8/24. We will stay off site this night. We want a day to rest and get a good night's sleep so we are ready to go on Sunday. We plan on just letting the kids swim in the hotel pool and then heading to Downtown Disney or just going resort hopping...maybe see Wishes from the beach at Poly.

Sunday 8/25- get up bright and early and check into the Contemporary! We'll be in the garden wing. I know our room won't be ready but we want to get our KTTW and head straight to the Magic kingdom. I'm hoping we can make rope drop but if not we will be in the park by 10 the latest. We have lunch at the Plaza at 1:10. We'll head back the room to unpack, do a pool break, and then head back to MK.

Monday 8/26. Epcot day! dinner at garden grill at 5:50

Tuesday 8/27...back to MK. Crystal palace at 8:25. Not sure if we'll head back to MK after our mid-day break or hop back to Epcot for exploring the world showcase and snacking around the world for dinner.

Wed 8/28-morning plans are up in the air. Either HS or epcot. we might eliminate HS since there isnt a lot for the boys there other than TSM. Late afternoon and evening plans are set in stone due to a 4:20 ADR at BOG!!! So we're obviously going to MK.

Thursday 8/29-AK day. Lunch at yak and yeti at 1:30. Most likely heading to MK at night again.

Friday 8/30-park plans are up in the air. 5:15 dinner at Ohana. This is our last disney day. We will check out of the contemporary and head off site again for one night. We will be hitting the road early Saturday morning and we can't justify spending all that money for just for a bed.

Saturday 8/31-breakfast at chef mickey's. ADR is for 8:35. I'm going to keep trying for 9:15-9:45. Start the long drive home. If we drive all the way, we will once again stop somewhere overnight.

Sunday 9/1- arrive back home...tired, but with lots of happy memories!

Thanks for the advice, we decided to stay at Royal Pacific for the last 3 days and have changed our AoA reservation to Aug 12-19th.

Everyone added and updated! Thanks for catching my error, the past few updates were done at 3am and I was a little cross-eyed by then :rotfl2:
A warm Team August :welcome: to those who have joined the team! Oh the time is going by so fast but so slow! LOL Seems like I dont have enough hours in the day to get done what I need to but it sure seems like it's taking forever to get to August :lmao:

Oh well, maybe I shouldn't rush things to much, by the time we go its the end of the summer and when we get back the kids are right into school.

Here;s our plan:

DAY 1: Flying from Dayton, Oh to Orlando, will arrive in Orlando airport approx 10 am
Get checked in, explore the resort, let the kids chill at the pool.
Dinner at O'Hanna at 5:15...I think we can watch the fireworks from the Poly, right?

Day 2: Monday- Dinner at Mama Melrose (Hollywood Studios) at 6:20.

Day 3: Tuesday- Dinner at Coral Reef at 4:00 (Epcot)

Day 4: Wendsday- BREAKFAST at Tusker House (Animal Kingdom)

Day 5: Thursday- Magic Kingdom this day. MK is my favorite park and I can't wait ti see the new Fantasyland!! We have the kids going to Crystal palace with Pooh and friends at 5:15, and just us adults going to Tony's TOwn Tavern at 8:00... we really wanted a dinner out away from the kids :thumbsup2

Day 6: Friday- Chef Mickey at 5:35.

Day 7: Saturday, our last day :lovestruc Figure we'll get checked out and hit Downtown Disney for some retail therapy. Our flight doesnt leave till 6:55 that night, so we will have most of the day!!

Lime Green Mickey Heads are here!!!! I finally got around to getting the new ones finished up for this years Team August! Those who had them last year will notice a few changes...the lime green is definitely brighter and it prints out just about right on my printer. (Went thru many shades of testing lol) Also redesigned the font a bit so more of the image shows thru. The printed size as is comes out to about 9.5" wide by 7.5 inches tall. Since they are a .png file they resize pretty well so you should be able to print in any size.

They are fully customizeable! Just let me know what design you would like and I can usually have it ready for you in a day or so. I'll use your forum user name by default, but if you want something different just let me know! Also if you want, I can change the background to just about any character but realize that some may not work well with the shape of the text.

So here are this year's 2013 Team August LGMH's!

Mickey and the gang!

Princesses

Villians

Don't know if this the right to request one?? Could I get one with minnie? Please

Only remember eating at Pecos Bills in '84, can't remember food from previous trips.

Looking forward to BOG for lunch and dinner. Everyone who's been reading this thread is familiar with my woeful story of how much I was looking forward to eating at Brown Derby. ( where 's the emoticon for Pity Party?)

I love Pecos Bills but it never seems to be open in August for some reason. Sorry HBD didn't work out...just another reason to plan for future trip!

My family really likes Cape May Cafe as there is something for everyone. I am most looking forward to trying Boma and Sanaa this trip.

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards

We always do Cape May too -and I am looking forward to Saana this year too!

I have a question for my fellow August travelers. What shoes are you planning on wearing/bringing? Normally I have a pair of comfortable sneakers for the mass amounts of walking we do, but with it being so hot this time I figure we'll hit water parks and water rides so I'm not certain what to wear/bring. We're also flying so I don't want to pack 18 pairs of shoes per person.

I was thinking about sandals or perhaps some of the finger shoes, but I'm concerned about blisters with those. I may just have to try some over the summer and see what works.

This becomes my never-ending debate with myself every trip! I used to just wear flip flops and crocs and be perfectly happy - feet never hurt, etc. But as I landed in the 40+ crowd :scared1: the body doesn't hold up as well without some type of support in the shoe. I am planning on running on this trip, so I will have my running shoes with me, but I hate having my feet enclosed all day in the parks, and with the rain in August, I prefer something that will dry fast.

We are doing the WAT this year, so we have the added shoe issue in that everyone will need closed toed shoes for this. I have read that closed toe keen's are acceptable, and I know they get rave reviews for comfort and support, so I am thinking I am going to bring my sneakers, a pair of flip flops for pool and half day parks and then look into teva or keen sandals that will dry fast, are open and breathable, but will still have a closed toe. Not sure how I'm outfitting the rest of the family yet!

Last year I went with my 3 favorite... montrail molokini recovery flips, vibram 5 fingers, and sketchers go walk. Highly recommend them all.:thumbsup2

I have a pair of the go walks - although they are three years old now and have seen better days. But I just googled the other two you mentioned. I only see the recovery flips in men's. Do they make them in women's? Not that that is a huge deal - I don't mind wearing a men's, it's just harder to find the size sometimes. And as for the 5 fingers - these always intrigue me, but I haven't made the plunge. How are they? Do they take some getting used to? And are they comfortable around the toes?
