I'll be at BC April 5 - 8 for my birthday. :cake: I'm really looking forward to being close to Epcot for the flower & garden fest!

Sorry if a bit off-topic, but def disney-related - does any helpful person here (for which you are legend) know if disney issues (ie, sells) letters of marque for the "little pirates" (either beforehand or on-site)? I believe tomorrow morning is 60 day online checkin window for bc-have my nannette supplied pin i will bear proudly, thx again! Thanks either way- i may try tpas thread also.

Sorry ... have no idea about the little pirates. Since I now have a little princess, I'm only learning the little kid stuff as we go. I'm an expert at first haircuts and other haircuts for the little ones at Magic Kingdom though. My daughter will not allow anybody but the hairdressers at Magic Kingdom Barber Shop to touch Lily's hair. She's 20 months old today and has had two haircuts ... both at Magic Kingdom. Her next one will be in early August back at Magic Kingdom.

Teena-thanks anyway! Maybe someone else will know. Maybe our guy and I will make one together as a project (he is3.5 so authenticity requirement somewhat of a low bar). He has asked if we could be pirates together-initially i was hesitant b/c i thought no adults could wear any costumes on non-mickey halloween party days, but it appears pirates are an exception (at least if doing father-son pirates league makeover).

Just got back home from my 9 year old son's birthday party. I successfully wrangled 15 kids in a dark movie theater and didn't lose any of them. pixiedust: Can I have a sunken treasure on the beach right now?

Nicely done! Yes, you have totally earned a Sunken Treasure.

What did you see for a movie?

That cake is just gorgeous! Happy birthday. I think I'm super emotional today because seeing your photos made me tear up!

Were all the surprises in your room from Disney? They look so fun.

On another note, I have a couple of questions for the experts....what is a "sunken treasure"?

The letter of marque sounds fun....I wonder if someone on the Disigns thread could make one?

Hooray! I finally get to ask to be added to the Be Our Guest list! I've been lurking on this thread for a few days, but today I finally found out that we'll be staying at BC instead of AOA for our trip August 19-25! We got a fabulous deal thanks to another thread here on the DIS that allowed us to upgrade to BC for LESS than we were paying at AOA. Gotta love the DIS. pixiedust:
I used to post on the DIS many years ago but it has been so long that I had to reregister, that's why I'm Babooagain.

:welcome:

So glad to hear about your upcoming stay at the Beach Club! I'll add you to the list.

:woohoo:

Okay, so I finally made my mind up....booked and paid in full!

August 17-25, YC CL!

Could you please add us to the list? Thanks so much for this thread! It has been so informative and is getting me real excited for this trip.

:welcome:

I'll add you to the list!

:cool1:

Sorry I didn't get to answer your earlier question about balconies or daybed. At least now you know you will get a balcony. If your room does not have a daybed, you can request a rollaway when you checkin.

I've just booked my first stay at BC in a garden view room :cool1:
DH and I will be there from Oct. 29-Nov. 5, 2013. We have never been at this time of the year and are excited to attend both Food and Wine and MNSSHP pirate:

Please add us to the Be Our Guest List

:welcome:

Sounds like a fantastically fun lineup for your fall trip!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list

:goodvibes

:welcome:

Great time of year to celebrate your birthday at the World and the Beach Club.

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list

:yay:

I am there and the dates are correct but we have a split stay...5/9-12 YC GV, then 5/12-5/18 BC GV. Hoping BC opens up for the whole stay, but not betting on it.

I'll make the adjustment to the list and keep my fingers crossed for you.

We returned home last night after our first YC stay and also first time staying deluxe.

Just wanted to say thanks for posting your pictures on the YC view thread!

What an awesome cake! My daughters are totally obsessed with Cake Boss and fancy cakes, so I'll have to show them that one! :)

On another note, I have a couple of questions for the experts....what is a "sunken treasure"?

From the Community Post on Page 2 of this thread:

Sunken Treasure: The unofficial beverage of the Beach and Yacht Club FAQ forum:

SunkenTreasureNinjaMom.jpg
SunkenTreasure2.jpg

Contents: Malibu Rum, Midori, orange juice, pineapple juice and Sprite with a splash of BOLS Blue Curacao.

Thanks, pixarmom, Feckless, WDW4us2006 and Ninja Mom for the photos!

Please note that the Sunken Treasure is no longer on the menu at Hurricane Hanna's, however if you get a bartender who knows how to make the drink, you may still be in luck!

Thanks to medicgirl177, who experiemented at great personal risk to decipher the secret formula:

SunkenTreasureingredients.jpg
P1130980.jpg

Sunken Treasure- recipe by medicgirl177
1 1/2 shots Midori
1 shot Malibu Coconut Rum
1 shot orange juice
1 shot pineapple juice
Sprite or 7-Up to fizzy taste
1 shot Blue Curaçao
Over ice
Dress with Pineapple slice, cherry, or umbrella

The letter of marque sounds fun....I wonder if someone on the Disigns thread could make one?

Great suggestion!

ETA: and thanks for going the extra mile and actually finding one!!! A Sunken Treasure to you!

I have a question about the first haircut. How much hair do they really need to have? Our DD will be 9 months and I really would like to do this but she does not have a ton of hair and I really do not forsee too much growing in the next two months. Is this more a symbolic thing or will I be secretly laughed at due to her lack of hair?

I am not sure if anyone is interested, but I just did the online checkin for our May trip. It asked me to confirm arrival and departure times. I was asked to pick PIN numbers for my hubby and myself and for room requests I could choose two of the three listed, which were large balcony, lower floor and near transportation. It also gave me the option of clicking a box which said they would possibly allow us early entry to a room prior to 3 but it might override our room requests. We chose large balcony as our only request. 58 days to go!

I love this question and the answer!

Heretofore, all distances will now be given in terms of relationships between Disney attractions!!!

The differences in distances between the YC/BC and EP/HS are insignificant- no more than 5 minutes in either direction- much like the walk-on time for Journey to Imagination.

I always like to use comparisons with something most Disers know about. Especially when one family's "5-minute walk" can easly be another's 15.

I think a good rule of thumb for a first haircut is enough hair that they can cut off a big enough lock for you to save, and not have her be bald when they're done :) Neither of my DD's had enough hair to cut until they were two! (Parents of bald daughters, unite! :) )

Poppy- thanks so much and for even finding an available one on Etsy! Although I spoke about it with my wife, and now we are pretty high on the option of making our own. What better authority to bestow privateering authority at disney than either the king/queen of wdw themselves, mickey and/or minnie? So instead of a rendering of King George, some mouse ears? (Our guy recently is on a minnie phase so we may omit mickey from the document- he rotates through the fab five- for our first two trips, he was all about pluto and donald).

And Jemh- thanks for update on online checkin- we will be there may 11-17, close to yours. We have multiple requests for our room, but they literally have no overlap with the premade choices, so we will likely do online checkin, then followup on phone to ensure our choices still there. I will be (likely) bearing the yc/bc pin and maybe also pirate gear (with a 3 yr old running around probably saying some gibberish word he has picked as his anthem for the week, often a variant of a real world only we understand.)

Will be on lookout for adorably dressed 3yr old being chased by a pirate. I am anxiously awaiting my pin in the mail and will be sporting it as well. Our older DD is doing pirates league on the 10th so we will have a pirate with us as well.

Thanks for the sunken treasure recipe!!! I've been craving one - even though I had no idea what it tasted like!!!

Happy Birthday Grace!!! (sorry I'm a little late with that)

I hope you had a big slice of that beautiful cake WITH a Sunken Treasure :cool1:

Enjoy your stay
