Welcome!

We are now accepting requests for 3x4 and 4x6 journaling and filler cards for people wishing to create a Disney "Project Life" style book. Please read our rules before posting!

All request for NEW cards should be posted in this thread.

If you wish to see what cards have already been created or if you have created a card you would like to add please post it here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3072096 No requests or chatter in the completed cards thread please!

What do you do with the cards? With this system you would purchase plastic pocket page protectors which look like baseball card sheets that you then slip into a 3 ring binder that is either 12x12 or 8.5x11. You can find the page protectors at many stores such as Michaels, A.C. Moore, and Hobby Lobby. They are also available on line at Amazon. Many hobby and craft stores have 40% or 50% off coupons you can use to purchase these if you keep your eyes open.

You simply slide your photos into the 4X6 slots and add some journaling cards in the remaining 4X6 or 3X4 slots and quickly your Disney album will be complete. There are also protectors in other sizes which will allow you to include 12x12 or 8.5x11 scrapbook pages, park maps, menus, key to the world cards, ephemera, pretty much anything fairly flat you want to keep in your book.

Some people chose to do the cards digitally and others print them out and bring them to the parks with them. You can journal your memories each night so you remember all the fun little details of the trip. This is also a great activity for kids to do on the trip to get them to practice their writing and it will be a wonderful memory of your vacation in your child's handwriting! Another idea is to collect character autographs on 4x6 cards that can easily be added to your album (thanks for the idea lilsprstr). If you google "Project Life Disney" you will see some you tube videos of things others have done to give you an idea.

*Project Life, for those who don't know, is a simplified scrapbooking system. It was started by Becky Higgins, if you want you can google it.*

Thread Rules

This thread started out small but is blossoming nicely... so as it gets busier and our DISigners' lists get longer we have decided to follow in the footsteps of many of the other DISigners on this board and implement a series of rules for making requests. They are not complicated but they will make DISigning a smoother process for all involved, and most importantly, they will cut down on thread management issues for your DISigners, thus enabling us to spend more time making cards for you :artist:

THE RULES:

1. Before requesting… please check if the card you want already exists… there is a thread with all completed cards on it... the completed cards thread is at http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3072096

2. Please be clear with what you want… eg. if you ask for a particular restaurant… do you want a card for the restaurant, or for the character breakfast or for a sophisticated evening meal there?

3. At this time, we have to impose a maximum limit of ** 4 cards ** per request, that's 4 individual cards, we must insist on the request being limited to 4 in order to keep requests and waiting lists manageable.

4. Once your initial request has been filled, you may then request another set of 4 cards, and so on.

5. We will create one card for each card request, YMMV (Your mileage may vary). Some DISigners may provide both lined & unlined versions of the card and some may not as some designs do not lend themselves to variations. Some requests may even result in a huge shower of varied cards depending on the DISigner's inspiration. These extras are a treat, they are not standard. One card request = one card.

5. Please don't re-request your request within a short period of time. As requests come in a DISigner will "claim" them and give you an estimate of when they might be ready, We have several DISigners in several timezones, claims will not be instantaneous and may take a few days. If your request has not been claimed within 4 days then please do post again to mention it, as it may have slipped past on a busy day, but be sure to reference your original post.

6. Requests are not necessarily done in order so please mention if you have an urgent request & we will try to accommodate. Please do not get frustrated if you see later requests filled before yours. Some things take longer than others and the reasons for this may not be immediately obvious!

7. Finally, please remember we are doing this for fun! We all have busy lives and take time out of them to DISign these cards to add a bit of pixie dust to your vacation albums (and ours!). It is a fun hobby & very rewarding but it is a lot of work so please remember to keep an eye out for your cards and come back and say thanks to your DISigner after she posts them here for you, it means a lot to us! Also… if you use our cards we'd love to see the pages you make, we'll feel famous… feel free to post them on this thread!!

Thanks :cheer2:

ALSO.... if we have any budding DISigners on the thread who would like to join in... please jump right in! You can claim requests if you see any you'd like to work on, or if you'd like to share any cards that you have made - we'd love to see them. You can add your completed cards to the completed cards thread too.

Ok folks... lets get DISigning pixiedust:

I had to google this. I love this idea so I am waiting to see if you get any ideas. We leave in 11 days and this would be a great way to remember our trip.

I just saw on Becky's FB page the other day where someone had used the journaling cards to collect autographs. I thought that was a cute idea.

I think the idea may have been formalized by Becky (and glad she got this ball rolling) but I have been doing that for years! And the full size protectors as well as the baseball card style for larger items like the park maps. My 1987 book, for example, was done this way....and my "stuff" looks as good as it did then! And I can easily compare the price of the "passports" to current ticket prices :(

I'm assuming you are looking for 4x3" designs?

Are you looking for lined designs?

I love the idea but want your ideas before I start...

Tom

Thanks Tom! I was planning on making some too but I have no clear idea yet. I don't want you to go through too much trouble cause i think i can make some but if you want to make them and think others would like them that would be awesome! The DISigners totally made my first trip so much more magical! I thought maybe someone else had done the 3x4 cards already but I guess not. I know I want to make cute blank lined journaling cards with maybe some Disney characters or Mickey heads on them or park theme icons. I was also going to come up with some journaling prompts on some cards to get my thoughts going. I was going to make some food themed type cards to record what I ate at each restaurant. Maybe some I can fill out on the plane about our flight. I thought if I did my cards each night and slipped them in pockets I would remember what I did each day and after printing my photos I'd be done with my book. I definitely want the cards to be 4x3 and I don't plan to round the corners. I want them to have a vertical orientation. I was going to see how much clip art is available for specific things like the logos for the restaurants we are planning on or the Soarin logo to put on the journaling cards. Things I know I'll want to journal about specifically and then just general Disney stuff. I'm not going till the end of October so there is tons of time for us to brainstorm. Let me know if there is a specific aspect you want to work on. I kind of know how to use Photoshop Elements but I'm definitely still a beginner. Still I can definitely take a stab at it and I'm totally willing to share anything I make for myself. Let me know your thoughts and thank you SO MUCH!!!!

I had never seen Becky Higgins info before so thanks for posting this! I love this simple idea for layouts and with this type of format would be easy to incorporate traditional 12 x 12 sheets into that type of album as well.

I would definitely love to see 4 x 6 cards for titles and 3 x 4 cards for journaling with Disney themes! I will have to try and make some and maybe we can all share when we are done!??! :)

Here is a couple of links I found that is offering a free download of Disney cards would be great for this type of journaling I believe you are referring to:

First let me apologize if I shouldn't post this here. I have no idea what I'm doing! :confused3 I decided to just try to make a super simple card just to see if I could. I think this looks ok and would work fine if it was printed out on card stock and cut out to be used for journaling on. Let me know what you think. I have to see if the lines are spaced out well but my stupid printer refuses to work so I just eyeballed it for now. If anyone likes this and wants a specific character with just lines like this, let me know and I'd be more than happy to try it as long as you you know, like I said, I have no idea what I'm doing! I do plan to make some with journaling prompts, borders, logos, and maybe faded background pictures.

IloveEliot,

This is really cute! Great job!! :0) I'm pretty new to the boards here. I have thought about taking a stab trying to make a few cards, but just haven't had the courage lol. Your bravery inspired me. I think I'll try it.

I wrote an article on the album(s) I did using Project Life products for Capturing Magic Me: http://capturingmagic.me/dcoumenting-a-disney-vacation-with-project-life/

And of course, there's the amazing Project Mouse collection out right now. http://the-lilypad.com/store/Project-Mouse-BUNDLE-No.-1-Basics.html I'm working on a gift album using this collection. So cute!

Thanks for the info! Really cute ideas!

Iloveeliot - Really cute Kermit journaling card! Thank you for sharing!

Iloveeliot, love the Kermit card... very cute :) tiggergalttfn, your Magical Moment card is lovely!

While I'm not technically doing PL, I do a lot of digiscrapping, mostly double pages full of photos that look like they are strewn neatly-ish at slight angles on top of each other (like Yin Designs kind of style). I love the Project Life fillers & journal cards & use them to tuck in amongst all the photos on my layouts as pops of colour or titles or journalling spaces.

I've started making some for our upcoming trip, here they are...http://s1279.beta.photobucket.com/user/pixiesprite/library/Dis_Journal_Cards_Fillers

There's only a few there at the moment, but I'll add more as I make them. We're heading to AoA, hence there will be quite a few Cars cards appearing in there over time:)

If anyone would like to use them feel very free to download them, I'd be delighted :cheer2:

Hmmm.... methinks I need some pirate-flavoured cards next! pirate:

... I love these... I don't use the Project for Life style but I may print these just as journal squares for my scrapbook...

I'd love to see some generic park ones
HS
Epcot
AK
MK

and some of the special events - The Lion King, Finding Nemo (shows at AK), Beauty and the Beast, Indiana Jones and Lights cars Action at HS...

I would also love some for the dining places (Ohana, Chef Mickey, Crystal Palace, Askerhus)

Maybe some for the Parade... with just the parade name and clipart (Block Party Bash, Celebrate A dream, Jammin Jungle Party)?

What about one about Autographs?

Just some thoughts! To keep the creative juice flowing

Tigger i luv DISNEY, I've added some cards for the 4 main parks to photobucket, I will add the water parks etc. to my to-do list :) Great ideas... I'll get working on some more of your suggeestions, this is helping me get my stash organised for our holiday too - I ran out of ideas for cards!

I would be happy to make some cards with specific characters if people would like. I wasn't sure if all of the above requests have already been filled. Maybe we should start a Disney Project Life Request thread or something so others can see it. I wasn't sure if it is ok to just post a request thread since I'm not really a DISigner. Does anyone know?
