(CLOSED) Disney's WILDERNESS LODGE and VILLAS Information Thread ~2012~

It's in a big pot on a hot plate similar to the cobbler.

The breakfast selection remains the same everyday, with the exception of oatmeal which is available in the winter. The Epcot resorts offer oatmeal (and sliced hard boiled eggs) all the time.

No fun. It wasn't there in November last year, that's why I asked. Odd tho that they only bring it out in the winter at the OFC. When we stayed over in the GF CL they had oatmeal like that in the middle of August. I LOVE oatmeal so I had been excited about that.

Helped two people book a trip in the past month and convinced both of them to stay at our beloved lodge. :)

We've gone to WDW the second week of December for the past two years, and just requested the week off from work again. Once I get it approved, I think we'll go ahead and book airfare since it's as cheap now as it'll ever get. I asked DH where he wanted to stay -- the Lodge, of course! :yay:

I've been waiting to see airfare pricing for that time of year too, but not all the airlines are out yet....

I guess they think it's a seasonal item, but it fits perfectly with the Lodge theming, I think. The Epcot resorts always have oatmeal and sliced hard boiled eggs and GF and AKL have afternoon tea and scones. I don't know if Poly has oatmeal all the time or afternoon tea, but I think I recall CR having it in the summer, but I may be mixing it up with YC.

That's a great feeling to be able to share the joy of the Lodge with others - you know they're going to love it and you helped them:thumbsup2

I hope you get your approval soon and can start planning your trip:goodvibes

Three more sleeps (as we say to our kids) and we'll be in the Lodge! Any other Princess Half runnners going to be there this weekend who want to meet up for the bus to the start?

Now only two more:goodvibes. Happy running and good luck!

Currently at VWL in a 2 bedroom. Loving it!
That's great to hear as we don't often get 2-bedroom reports. Enjoy and feel free to post photos anytime;)

Subscribing to this thread for the first time. We have never stayed at WL, but about to book concierge for August. (We have stayed at AKL, GF (RPC), BWI, and when I was a child I stayed at Poly and Dixie Landings).

count us in September 14-21 woods view with a requesting for Magic Kingdom side high floor, but will take what we get. Last room was woods view, but we overlooked the quiet Villa's pool. Just rebooked from October to september to save some money. We stayed at WL for our girls' 1st trip last february and of course they don't want to stay anywhere else. Hoping to have some down to to explore the lodge a little more this time around. Anyone know if Whispering Canyon Cafe has chicken or chicken nuggets on their kids menu? My daughter wanted to go again, but wasn't liking what's on the menu now. Also need to remember to ask for Flag family at the beginning of my trip since we missed it last time by 1 day.

I have pictures from our trip this month. Here is the view from room 6018. You can barely see the Contemporary and the castle. The Contemporary was much more obvious in person, looking like it was really close to the WL. You can see Cinderella's castle by looking under a branch. The view of the fireworks was a little obscured by branches. My daughter had a perfect view of the castle and fireworks from room 6010, but I don't have a picture of it.

and some towel critters from our room and my daughter's room. They brought the Mickey and Minnie with them. We only got the towel creations during the weekday, none on the weekend. Flowers above the heart was from the lei we got at O'Hana's.

The first three are from our daughter's room:

Thank you for the photos and menu! That is the same menu I had looked up. Maybe I can share something from the skillet with her since she will eat things from that. We only got 1 towel animal the last time and it was a mouse. Maybe this time I will have my girls leave some of their disney toys our in hopes of some added magic.

Thank you for posting your cute photos, Wood Nymph:thumbsup2. Looks like you had such a fun mousekeeper.

Congratulations on booking your trip - I'll add you to the Lodgers' Log. Could your DD bring nuggets from RF to WCC?

Can someone tell me what view we are likely to get if we book concierge? Should we request something specific?
There are two possible views when booking CL: Woods or Courtyard. Woods can be either on the North side facing toward CR, MK or South side facing toward VWL. Courtyard can be either WL or VWL. If you have a preference, make sure its noted in your reservation and you can email the IPO to do that. Bunk beds are also by-request only.

Thank you! I'm pretty sure my husband won't agree to bunk beds, though :D

I could have sworn I once read that any TS location (or almost all of them) will have Mac and Cheese and/or Chicken Nuggets, even if not on the menu. You just have to ask. But for the life of me I can't remember where I read that. It was back during the planning for our 2011 trip.
