So we walked over to the TTC, took the super convenient Epcot monorail and were there in no time.
I felt like we were still playing catch-up from our 2011 trip, where it rained so much that we never got to half of Epcot. There was still so much left that we hadn't done yet!
"oh well, whatever we don't get to, there's always NEXT TIME"
DBF just loves how much I say NEXT TIME.
We did a few rides and things around Epcot that we'd never done before.
Crowds were great today. (It's ALWAYS that way on our last day, I swear!)
We headed back to the World Showcase to finish up the countries. DS wanted to do another Agent P mission, but we just didn't have enough time.
Mexico:
Mexican Donald
In Norway, I can't believe I didn't take a photo of this.... I wanted to find and try the Schoolbread, which I read a lot about on the internet. We found it and it was sooo good ! Definitely will return for that snack again "next time".
Germany:
Time was flying by so quick... boo! We were all sad. Our park time was coming to an end.
I was sooo sad to leave. Too bad we had a dinner reservation waiting for us.
We must've gotten our second wind, because we were definitely wishing we could stay at Epcot until closing tonight!
On the positive side, the reservation we had tonight meant we were going back to 'Ohana again!
Earlier in the trip I said, 'Do we really want to go here twice, or is there somewhere else we'd rather try?'
DBF said, 'We definitely should do it, I mean, we love it so much and we're only here once every two yea...r...s... Umm
I MEAN..... we are only here once every...
LIFETIME........'
Too late mister, you did it now! I immediately said,
'We get to come back in two years!?'
DS immediately started singing a song whose only lyric was "
2015"
"
2015 2015 2015
2015 2015 two-thousand fifteeeeeeeeeeeeeen... "
Ha Ha. Poor DBF.
He tried to come up with a weak comeback... 'Well, when
"I" win us our next trip,
"I'm" going to pick where we stay and we're going to have to do everything that
"I" want to do.....'
Oh PULEEEZE, like that scares me one bit !! Bring it on !!!
Back to 'Ohana. While we waited, I took some more photos of the lobby from the 2nd floor. So beautiful.
Our meal was fabulous yet again. We got the same waiter! Ha. We got a table by the window and got seated just in time to watch Wishes from our table...
DS got a HUGE portion of ice cream tonight.. He was in heaven!
After dinner, we shopped for a minute in the Poly gift shop. I actually hadn't bought anything on our trip so far.. What's wrong with me? Perhaps after moving last year, I've become way too practical with trying not to accumulate more clutter stuff I guess? My 2000 photos will be my souvenirs!
However, all the Poly merchandise was pretty tempting, they even had a Dole Whip shirt that DS was sure I needed !! He ended up buying me a late birthday gift (with MY money
) - a cute Polynesian/Minnie Mouse keychain that I really love. I also bought a Disney scrapbook album.
Next, we needed to go downstairs to the front desk to settle our room charges. During our trip, instead of walking around with $1000 of Disney gift cards in our pocket, we had been locking them up in our room safe, just charging all our meals to KTTW card, and then planned on just applying our gift cards to our account before check out.
We'd been roughly keeping a mental tab of how much we had spent and knew we were real close to coming out right at zero. Our two add-on nights at the Yacht Club ate up quite a chunk of our gift cards, but we were still really happy with our decision to stay there!
So after we applied our gift cards, he said our remaining balance was.....
$863.32 .
WHAT !????!!!
Well, they were charging us for the room for two nights .. ARGH! I told him about our prize, and that ALL our Poly stay should be no charge.
I figured I knew exactly what had happened. Our prize was for 4 free nights at the Poly, and the 2 additional nights we had at the YC were to be paid for with our prize gift card.
The Poly people obviously mistakenly read our reservation as as 2 "prize" nights at the YC, and another 2 "prize" nights at the Poly, leaving us with two Poly nights we still had to pay for.
The guy helping us said he would have to call the Disney prize people and work it out, but unfortuntately they weren't open at this hour, so he would have to do it in the morning. AND of course, he was off the next day, so he would have to hand it off to his partner, "Christine". (we started to have a bad, bad feeling about all of this!!)
I told him I had all our official prize paperwork, if he needed that for reference. He asked us if we could bring our paperwork back up so he could make a copy for "Christine". So we walked all the way to our longhouse to get the paperwork and all the way back to the lobby (where was that golf cart now!? ha ha. It's alright - I'm sure it was good for us to walk off some of the zillion calories we had just eaten at 'Ohana!)
So, back at the lobby again, I gave him a copy of our YC checkout, showing we had already paid for our YC stay (even though he said he didn't need it, because "they had all that in the computer" - I wasn't taking any chances!), PLUS the copy of my our final prize paperwork with all the costs and details of who was paying for what clearly broken down. (Again, thank goodness I had brought all that stuff with us!)
He promised he would leave "Christine" all the info and said she would "definitely" get on it first thing in the morning and then call me on my cell. He was really nice, but we were skeptical... All this confusion was a little stressful & not exactly magical !
Speaking of other not-so-magical things, a little earlier that day I started to feel no-so-great.... nooo. sore throat. We had notice quite a lot of coughing/sick-sounding people around us during the week, I guess I had one too many germs land on me!
nooooo. I sure hope I wasn't catching something bad! Getting sick at Disney, plus during my fantastical once-in-a-lifetime trip is just soooo WRONG....
"next time" = more hand sanitizer and vitamins !!
We headed back to the room AGAIN. At least we do enjoy that beautiful tropical tiki-torch lit walk around the resort. I blogged a little, and checked in with "The Group" on Facebook. Unfortunately we never were able to arrange any meet-ups with any other winners during our trip, darn!
We headed off to bed for the very last time...........
