Pixie Dust Overload - the day I won One More Disney Day

Oh the look on your son's face on EE was funny they boy behind him...priceless. I hope his parents bought that picture. Topping bar ot PB sooo good. Everything I want on my burger and cheese for the fries. Can't get any better then that.

Oh I felt so bad that you forgot your photopass but then was glad to see some extra resort pics! Reading your TR is making me even more excited for our Poly stay in Sept! Thank you!

I know the feeling, I could not look at enough Poly photos when we were anticpating our trip too !! Luckily for you and any other Poly lovers out there, I took over 500 photos just of the resort.. so I probably will be posting even more photos!!

I hope you have a wonderful time on your stay. That place is just HEAVEN ! :cloud9:

Thanks for following along with my TR :)

So, I last left off with us about halfway through our day at the Magic Kingdom.. we seemed to be getting a lot accomplished today.

Photo0091FourBySixcopy_zpsc41df35b.jpg

We went over to Tomorrowland, and did a few things over there. We always love the Monsters Inc Laugh Floor! Oh, how we wish there was one in California. On our last trip (which was our first time seeing the show) I ended up as one of the targets, which was SO funny especially since we didn't know they did that to people in there. :rotfl: This time we got through the show without any of our mugs up on the bigscreen... I think DBF was relieved, however DS was WAY disappointed! :lmao:

Another Tomorrowland attaction I wish California had - the Peoplemover!

My happy Disney face ↓

DSC_0568copy_zpsf4bf84f8.jpg

I'm pretty sure I get this look a lot ↓ (especially when we're at Disney)

DSC_0564copy_zpse8aca0b5.jpg

On to Buzz Lightyear.. I love this ride, however I definitely prefer DL's version because the laser guns aren't attached and you can move around more easily. However either way, no matter what I do, I never manage to score that well on this ride!

EVEN after "cheating" and reading some tips on the internet , I'm STILL terrible!!!!!!

Photo0095FourBySix_zps8f709a53.jpg

Star Cadet? HUMPH !!!

The line for Space was too long, so we decided to come back for it tomorrow, and we went back over to Adventureland for one of our absolute favorite parts of the Magic Kingdom.

Is it a ride? nope.

Is it a character? nope.

It's an ice cream!!!

WDW soo totally exceeds DL with the legendary Dole Whip.. At Disneyland there's no swirl options.. just pineapple pineapple pineapple!! (which is so disappointing to us.)

I know, I know.. I know exactly what you're thinking, this place is SUPPOSED to be all about pineapple, D.O.L.E... DOLE !! I know. We do love pineapple, but but our usual order is two (vanilla) Dole Whip Floats and either an orange/vanilla swirl for a pinapple/vanilla swirl for DS.

DSC_0547copy_zps4f9b8216.jpg

The DL float version DOES include a really cute little umbrella/cherry thingy, which always adds bonus points to ANYTHING served in a cup, however we really prefer the custom flavor options at WDW.. PLUS the WDW float cup itself is a waaay cuter shape as well. (Ok, now I'm just being picky :) )

All this controversy aside, I did something that my family thought was way radical .... I passed up my beloved WDW order-how-I-want-it-dole-whip-float for.......

the magical CITRUS SWIRL !!

When I read all the hype about its return on the internet , I knew I had to try it out. It was really yummy!

DSC_0542_zps49cbe8bd.jpg

However, as good as it was, the best part of getting the Citrus Swirl, was definitely spotting this "bigger-Disney-fan-than-me" in line ahead of us there..

DSC_0540_zps4de02873.jpg

Yep, that's a MICKEY shaved into his hair. Not the best photo, because I was trying to be discreet, but it was hilarious!!!!

My boys clearly need to step up their game for me around here!!! :worship:

DSC_0555copy_zps817ea141.jpg

I always love photographing the castle, since it's so different than the one at DL. While this one is sure huge and regal, I might sort of prefer the quaintness of the smaller DL version...? I especially like how DL's is much more accessible. I always love walking over the drawbridge, around the wishing well area, and in the Sleeping Beauty walkthrough. I'm not a huge fan of the stage thingy here at WDW..

After a little while, we headed back to the Poly to rest a little bit before dinner.

Here's our VIDEO of the day. Click HERE

Back at the Poly, relaxing near our room...

"Next time" I definitely need to plan on having more time for more of this:

DSC_0626copy_zps07987eff.jpg

After our rest time, we took the monorail over to the Contemporary.

Here's our dining destination !! We had a 7:30 ADR.

It was a pretty good meal. Nothing spectacular or "life changing", but buffets are always good because you can get a little of everything , and usually lots of healthy stuff too. (Well, until you get to the massive dessert section, that is!)

It reminded us a lot of Goofy's Kitchen back at DL. The characters and atmosphere were a lot of fun, except for the one big kid, one table over from us, who stood up and started throwing up on the floor. I was treated to the whole scene, but luckily it was to the boy's backs. I told them NOT to turn around, but you know what happens when you tell somebody NOT to do something... Poor Goofy was also about one table away, and ran to go get help. Poor kid. Luckily Goofy was just far enough out of the way when it happened, because THAT could've been REAL bad! :scared1: The parents got the kid cleaned up, sat him down, and went back to eating! Ha Ha. I guess they weren't going to waste their $30/plate meal on a sick kid! :confused3 The CM's got it covered up quickly, so I guess it wasn't too bad, but not exactly the most appetizing or magical thing for us to deal with during dinner!!

So aside from the incident, while it was a good meal, we're undecided if we'd return to Chef Mickey's "next time" when we would be paying out of pocket for all our meals... What I totally LOVED was being able to get great photos with the characters, which was much nicer than having to wait in lines for them in the parks. However, as far as the food goes, we thought there were other places we feel like the food quality is better at that cost (like Ohanas).. Also, perhaps our perception might be slightly skewed because we're from Vegas, and we can get twice the buffet (minus characters of course) for only $5.99 about ten-minutes from our house. So, who knows. LOL. :)

With our bellies full , we left the Contemporary and went back to the Poly on the monorail. We knew we had a full day ahead of us tomorrow, so we happily headed right to bed !!

Great pictures!!! Especially love that first one of the 3 of you with Walt's statue and the Castle behind you. :)

How awful that you had to watch a kid get sick at Chef Mickey's, I think that might have put me off my whole meal. Maybe not though. ;)

Love your TR and the videos you have thrown in. Looking forward to reading about your busy day at MK and Epcot!

Today was our last park day of our trip............ waaah !!

I was already getting sad.

Way. Sad.

This was our final chance to see and do everything we didn't get to yet. (which is like impossible!! After two trips we still haven't done nearly everything we want to do!)

Today's plan was to go to Magic Kingdom first, then break for swimming, then spend the other half of the day trying to finish up Epcot.

Today the weather was just awesome, sunny with a high around 73.

First was our breakfast reservation at Kona Cafe.

DSC_0734_zpsafc37270.jpg

Tonga Toast!

DSC_0735_zpsca89e72c.jpg

After breakfast we head to the Magic Kingdom

DSC_0585copy_zps2ee0b561.jpg

We head straight for Space Mountain.

DSC_0747copy_zps2a137c3e.jpg

Don't worry, we did NOT forget our PP lanyard today!

Photo0129FourBySix_zpsbc76adb4.jpg

Next was Tomorrowland Speedway, a favorite of DS's.

I wanted to drive my own car, but he insisted that I ride with him. "You know mom, that way you can just relax and take pictures."

He loves driving me around.

DSC_0759copy_zps02d2401b.jpg

Here comes DBF..

DSC_0760copy_zps2a44816d.jpg

Next up was New Fantasyland, which I had been looking forward to this whole trip.

Little Mermaid..

DSC_0789copy_zps00959579.jpg

So beautiful !

DSC_0778c_zpsd02d9efb.jpg

Same ride as what we had in CA, however the version here was MUCH more detailed and pretty!

DSC_0786copy_zps2f8d72f7.jpg

Eating at Be Our Guest is definitely on the list for "next time".

DSC_0773copy_zps64be12f1.jpg

I loved the new circus area. Dumbo is always great.

DSC_0810copy_zps08951a58.jpg

Churro break-time. Having churros at Disney is mandatory. It's a rule.

DSC_0817_zps3e5179bd.jpg

Best meet & greet area ever...

The Great Goofini was so hilarious!! By far the best character experience we'd had.

I don't wanna leave!!!

Photo0125FourBySixcopy_zps7cfdcd95.jpg

Our plan was to be swimming by 3pm.

We had a quick lunch out on the patio at Captain Cooks. Still loving the Poly!

DSC_0861_zps9f49011e.jpg

Can't go to Captain Cooks without leaving with another Dole Whip !!

DSC_0866_zpsb81506fe.jpg

And finally here we are at the pool !

DSCN0465d_zps7e820c06.jpg

Here's DS coming down the slide. He loved it. All 3 of us did the slide.

DSCN0451copy_zpsd1f340f1.jpg

DS took the waterproof camera down the slide. Here's his funny video . It makes me laugh every time I watch it!!!

We had a great time!

DSCN0474copy_zpse9210f73.jpg

Of course when you travel in the winter, your pool time is definitely dictated by how lucky you get with the weather. We were so glad to have this beautiful day!! There sure weren't many people at the pool and it felt so good to have some relaxing down time! DBF said we should've extended our trip another couple days to have some more time like this. OH SURE, suggest that now!!!!!!! Where were you six months ago, when I was trying to plan this whole thing?!

We headed back to our room to get dressed & ready to go back to Epcot

(continued in part two............)

Enjoying your trip report as it is snowing once again here. Last weekend Blizzard this weekend more snow. Last weekend I couldn't even follow as we were without our power for a couple days. Today enjoying the warm thoughts and never can get enough Disney! When we ate at Pecos Bill on our trip in January we had a lunch guest. One of the white Crane's I believe it was decided to jump onto the empty table next to us and see what we were eating. Of course I stopped eating to take very close up photos of him since he was like 2 ft from us. I have enjoyed all your photos. and there were a couple of the castle and a couple others that I found myself looking at and saying to myself, "Okay where did she take that from?" Enjoying all the great shots. Sad to hear we are getting toward the end as I am enjoying your trip report very much. Your comment about not getting to see everything you wanted on your list....The other side to that is I find when I get home I add more to that list of things I think of after. Whether I have seen something on here or something I saw there but in the hustle and bustle didn't really register and now that I have time think about it I want to go see. Especially with photos I want to try to capture. Keeps us coming back for more. That Disney obsession just grows larger!

Another great installment! We were at the Poly in August and the pool didn't look anything like your pictures! :crowded:

That is too funny about the bird, some of them are really crazy :)

I'm not a bird-lover (scary random rooster attack in my early childhood), so I probably would've had to move! Large birds STILL scare me !!! LOL!

Wow, with all that snow!! No wonder you're enjoying all the photos of the tropical Poly! Stay warm :)

:) Another great update! I agree about Chef Mickey. We do it for breakfast EVERY trip because it is tradition, but it kills me to spend that kind of money. I guess I need to look into that Goofy meal in California for our trip just to compare. I'll be comparing the ice cream too, as your description of the pineapple ice cream with the cherry sounded good. Do they have floats because that is all my kids will care about and since we will be in Disneyland in AUGUST I know there will be ice cream consumption!! :rotfl:

So glad you got some pool time on your trip too. Fabulous!

Yes, they have floats at DL. The Dole stand is right in front of the Tiki Room. :)

Goofy's kitchen is good , however, the 3 of us prefer the Chip & Dale critter buffet at the Grand Californian over Goofy's.

All this DL talk is making me want to plan a quick trip there now!! ha ha. :upsidedow

So we walked over to the TTC, took the super convenient Epcot monorail and were there in no time.

DSC_0892_zpsd0fc6b3b.jpg

I felt like we were still playing catch-up from our 2011 trip, where it rained so much that we never got to half of Epcot. There was still so much left that we hadn't done yet!

"oh well, whatever we don't get to, there's always NEXT TIME"

DBF just loves how much I say NEXT TIME. :rotfl:

We did a few rides and things around Epcot that we'd never done before.

DSC_0898_zps9f151ab1.jpg

Crowds were great today. (It's ALWAYS that way on our last day, I swear!)

We headed back to the World Showcase to finish up the countries. DS wanted to do another Agent P mission, but we just didn't have enough time. :guilty:

In Norway, I can't believe I didn't take a photo of this.... I wanted to find and try the Schoolbread, which I read a lot about on the internet. We found it and it was sooo good ! Definitely will return for that snack again "next time".

Germany:

Time was flying by so quick... boo! We were all sad. Our park time was coming to an end.

DSC_0929copy_zps7ad2388a.jpg

I was sooo sad to leave. Too bad we had a dinner reservation waiting for us.

DSC_0931copy_zps2b7fec34.jpg

We must've gotten our second wind, because we were definitely wishing we could stay at Epcot until closing tonight!

Photo0185FourBySixcopy_zps5bf349b8.jpg

On the positive side, the reservation we had tonight meant we were going back to 'Ohana again! :yay:

Earlier in the trip I said, 'Do we really want to go here twice, or is there somewhere else we'd rather try?'

DBF said, 'We definitely should do it, I mean, we love it so much and we're only here once every two yea...r...s... Umm I MEAN..... we are only here once every... LIFETIME........'

Too late mister, you did it now! I immediately said, 'We get to come back in two years!?' :cool1:

DS immediately started singing a song whose only lyric was "2015"

" 2015 2015 2015 2015 2015 two-thousand fifteeeeeeeeeeeeeen... "

Ha Ha. Poor DBF.

He tried to come up with a weak comeback... 'Well, when "I" win us our next trip, "I'm" going to pick where we stay and we're going to have to do everything that "I" want to do.....'

Oh PULEEEZE, like that scares me one bit !! Bring it on !!!

Back to 'Ohana. While we waited, I took some more photos of the lobby from the 2nd floor. So beautiful.

DSC_0724_zps7872c246.jpg

Our meal was fabulous yet again. We got the same waiter! Ha. We got a table by the window and got seated just in time to watch Wishes from our table...

DS got a HUGE portion of ice cream tonight.. He was in heaven!

DSC_0953copy_zpsfb98beae.jpg

After dinner, we shopped for a minute in the Poly gift shop. I actually hadn't bought anything on our trip so far.. What's wrong with me? Perhaps after moving last year, I've become way too practical with trying not to accumulate more clutter stuff I guess? My 2000 photos will be my souvenirs!

However, all the Poly merchandise was pretty tempting, they even had a Dole Whip shirt that DS was sure I needed !! He ended up buying me a late birthday gift (with MY money  ) - a cute Polynesian/Minnie Mouse keychain that I really love. I also bought a Disney scrapbook album.

Next, we needed to go downstairs to the front desk to settle our room charges. During our trip, instead of walking around with $1000 of Disney gift cards in our pocket, we had been locking them up in our room safe, just charging all our meals to KTTW card, and then planned on just applying our gift cards to our account before check out.

We'd been roughly keeping a mental tab of how much we had spent and knew we were real close to coming out right at zero. Our two add-on nights at the Yacht Club ate up quite a chunk of our gift cards, but we were still really happy with our decision to stay there!

So after we applied our gift cards, he said our remaining balance was.....

$863.32 .

WHAT !????!!! :scared1:

Well, they were charging us for the room for two nights .. ARGH! I told him about our prize, and that ALL our Poly stay should be no charge.

I figured I knew exactly what had happened. Our prize was for 4 free nights at the Poly, and the 2 additional nights we had at the YC were to be paid for with our prize gift card.

The Poly people obviously mistakenly read our reservation as as 2 "prize" nights at the YC, and another 2 "prize" nights at the Poly, leaving us with two Poly nights we still had to pay for. :sad2:

The guy helping us said he would have to call the Disney prize people and work it out, but unfortuntately they weren't open at this hour, so he would have to do it in the morning. AND of course, he was off the next day, so he would have to hand it off to his partner, "Christine". (we started to have a bad, bad feeling about all of this!!) :guilty:

I told him I had all our official prize paperwork, if he needed that for reference. He asked us if we could bring our paperwork back up so he could make a copy for "Christine". So we walked all the way to our longhouse to get the paperwork and all the way back to the lobby (where was that golf cart now!? ha ha. It's alright - I'm sure it was good for us to walk off some of the zillion calories we had just eaten at 'Ohana!)

So, back at the lobby again, I gave him a copy of our YC checkout, showing we had already paid for our YC stay (even though he said he didn't need it, because "they had all that in the computer" - I wasn't taking any chances!), PLUS the copy of my our final prize paperwork with all the costs and details of who was paying for what clearly broken down. (Again, thank goodness I had brought all that stuff with us!)

He promised he would leave "Christine" all the info and said she would "definitely" get on it first thing in the morning and then call me on my cell. He was really nice, but we were skeptical... All this confusion was a little stressful & not exactly magical ! :scared:

Speaking of other not-so-magical things, a little earlier that day I started to feel no-so-great.... nooo. sore throat. We had notice quite a lot of coughing/sick-sounding people around us during the week, I guess I had one too many germs land on me! nooooo. I sure hope I wasn't catching something bad! Getting sick at Disney, plus during my fantastical once-in-a-lifetime trip is just soooo WRONG....

"next time" = more hand sanitizer and vitamins !! :thumbsup2

We headed back to the room AGAIN. At least we do enjoy that beautiful tropical tiki-torch lit walk around the resort. I blogged a little, and checked in with "The Group" on Facebook. Unfortunately we never were able to arrange any meet-ups with any other winners during our trip, darn!

We headed off to bed for the very last time...........

oh no... I would be soo mad about all these "issues" with a free trip! lol... How hard is it to make sure your ressie is flagged.. Hope they got it fixed with no problem and maybe some pixie dust thrown in?? :) (although Don't get me wrong.. I would put up anything for a free trip to WDW )

Wow! It looks like you had a spectacular trip, but I agree with ampc3. I would not have been happy to have so many hassles over something that was supposed to be an awesome free prize! I would expect far better from Disney.

Thanks for taking the time to write this, I really enjoyed reading it. I am so glad you were organized enough to bring all of your paperwork! I really hope it all worked out smoothly and didn't cause too much stress.

So here we are on the day I've been dreading for so long.. our last day! BOOO!!!

We woke up to this interesting sight... super fog !

DSC_0957_zps2e94de01.jpg

DSC_0956_zps61eeea5d.jpg

We originally had a breakfast reservation for this morning, but as our trip went on, we we decided to cancel it as we would rather like to have a more relaxing morning to pack up our stuff and maybe spend a tiny bit more time enjoying the Poly. We were tired today. We were really feeling all the walking and excitement over the last week..

The weather is always at its best whenever we leave Disney, I swear. They do that on purpose to make it harder to leave. It was going to be about 75 degrees today, just beautiful! Evil Disney!!

I was not feeling all that great today :( waah. Sore throat and cold sore. I think my body is definitley telling me it's worn out! Disney vacations are hard work!!

DBF was sad that we had all that confusion at the lobby yesterday, and now our trip was coming to a close and I wasn't feeling well. He said he was also afraid now I had nothing in my life to look forward to, since I've spent nearly the last year having so much fun planning this trip... I told him not to worry, because after all, we still had 2015. LOL.

We finished packing and I tearfully said goodbye to our wonderful room. We walked to the lobby, checked our airplain luggage in to the Magical Express counter up front, and they printed up our airline boarding passes for us. They make everything so easy. We checked our carry-on bag into bag check for them to hold until we were ready to leave, which was easy and quick as well.

We didn't have to catch our Magical Express bus until 4:30, so our plans originally were going to Downtown Disney, and a round of mini-golf. However, since the weather was so so nice, I was really tempted to make it another pool day. I put our swim stuff in our carry-on bag, just in case...

We headed over to Captain Cooks for breakfast.

We ate outside on the patio, which was lovely as always.

I'm so sad already. I'm going to miss this view terribly!

DSC_0970copy_zpsa0d38475.jpg

After breakfast, we walked to the bus stop. On the way, I tried to soak up as much pretty Poly scenery as I could...

DSC_2353_zps7fc1b30c.jpg

DSC_2359_zpsed7de42e.jpg

Then "Christine" called. She was a real, actual person! :rotfl:Thank goodness! She said all our charges were indeed fixed, and my "real" balance was no $130.12 (which was indeed correct, as we doublechecked our charge sheet really carefully last night). Yay for only being $100 over our spending! PHEW. I am so glad all this is finally taken care of. So relieved!

We took a bus to Hollywood Studios..

DSC_2371_zps56b73a03.jpg

Our plan was to take the boat from there to the Swan, then a short walk over to Fantasia Gardens Mini-Golf.

Might as well take a few more photopass photos as we pass by the entrance of HS...

DSC_1023_zpsfbff55e4.jpg

DSC_00132_zps36011812.jpg

While we enjoyed this Fantasia course, we decided we liked the Winter Summerland course better (we did that one on our 2011 trip). The Fantasia grounds were much prettier, however the theming of the W/S was much more silly and fun. The only drawback from the W/S is that the location can be much more of a hassle. It is located right next to Blizzard Beach. On our last trip, BB was being refurbished, but the bus drivers assured us that the busses would still be running because of W/S. Let me tell you, that huge empty parking lot at night was pretty desolate! We were the ONLY people there , and we were thinking a bus would NEVER come 'rescue' us. We were feeling a little stranded for a while out there.

Either way, we always enjoy our golf time, unfortunately we don't have places like this back home anymore, so we were glad we checked it out.

Here we are on the boat ride back.. Ha Ha. This pretty much sums us up at this point of our trip! :)

(to be continued in part two...)

Really enjoying your trip report. I am so sad that it is the last day. I agree that it always seems like the perfect day on the day we have to leave. Total torture. :sad1:

Love all your pictures and looking forward to the last installments.

Very happy that you get to start planning for 2015!! :cool1: Thought it was great when your DBF made that slip and Tyler started singing the 2015 song. :rotfl2:

Your DBF sounds just like my DH and you sound just like me. We are always saying next time and they are always battling it even though we will win in the end. LOL Loved the colors in your Swan photo they were beautiful. I don't think there is anything about Disney that I don't love. I am already making notes for my next trip. Sorry to hear about the bill issues again. Thank God you had everything with you to show. My DH at times questions why I bring the things I do. I tell him I hope I don't need them but I have them if I do. Perfect Example! I will be reading this to him. :thanks:
