(CLOSED) Disney's WILDERNESS LODGE and VILLAS Information Thread ~2012~

We just got back last week from another wonderful vaca at WDW. Wilderness Lodge looks GREAT with the updates. Love the new furniture in the lobby, and the rooms feel more airy and fresh.

We had a bit of Disney magic happen...got an upgrade! We've never had that happen before. The room discount we booked months ago was just a standard view, so I expected to see the roof of the bus stop or something, which we didn't really care about anyway...we're hardly there. We ended up with a "courtyard view," but in reality it was a view of the entire BAY!! Was one of the end rooms on the 5th floor. It was amazing and we felt so lucky.

The BB offer was in the packet, and I think it was a room-only discount of 35%. But we always go in January, so those BB offers never really help us.

Mugs were the same design as last year and Roarin Forks had the same food choices. Only bummer was they no longer had the amazing chicken wings at Territory Lounge, so we only had apps in the bar once. The fondue with pretzel bread was just ok....wouldn't have it again.

But we had a terrific time with lots of Magic....like happening to be on the boat from GF back to MK to catch our boat to WL at the same time the MK fireworks were going off!! Amazing.

Already looking forward to 2014 :hourglass

Loved reading this..I can hear your smiles. Can't wait to go

Hot off the cutting room floor! A great WL video (with FW music:scratchin) featuring dining, the Mercantile, arcade, pool and a Deluxe room:

Where'd the skillet go?

In the 'resort photos' it does show a ping pong table. It it on the beach? Or is the photo an error?:beach:

What a wonderful upgrade for your DD and it sounds like everyone is happy. So, have you been looking over the BB offer?:rotfl:
We took our 3year old granddaughter back to her room for bath and bed while the rest of the family enjoyed Epcot. They have the most amazing view of the Wishes fireworks from their balcony, better than our view from when we were inside the park. We also caught the fireworks as we were leaving Hoop Dee Doo yesterday. We love the boats.

The bounceback offer in in your packet that you get when you check in. It's in the middle of the Be Our Guest Guide. It's not in the room any more.
That's right - forgot it was in there in August - thanks!

Pretty sure the current BB offer is a room discount. No free dining unless it just changed
:thumbsup2

Thank you for posting about your stay! Seems like it was a special vacation and you brought home great memories. Hope you get to book your '14 trip soon:)

Thank you! I noticed that, too and could not place it. The photo makes it look like it's right in the middle of the woods! My only guess is that like BLT, it's a DVC feature and must be nestled in near the VWL pool area like at BLT:confused3

It must be so much fun seeing WDW though the eyes of a 3-year-old - except if they have a melt-down:upsidedow

BWI Saturday, then to the lodge on Mardi Gras!!!
:yay:

Eeek, I'm so excited. Just made our final payment on our WL vacation for October. After hearing/reading chatter about the price of booked packages possibly going up in price if not paid in full, I didn't want to take the chance. We got such a great deal I didn't want it to end up costing more money. It was hard enough talking my DH into upgrading to a deluxe for this trip! Now I just need to wait for the tickets for MNSSH to go on sale and we'll be all set. This is going to be a long year counting down the days! Quick question for all you WL pros... I've booked a bunk bed room woods view - is there a particular floor or area I should request?

Just popping in to say :wave2: to the Lodge Temptress and see which beach on Bay Lake she would be found :beach:

Here's our PiF (Paid in Full) dancer for you!

:dancer:

DH won't have any misgivings about upgrading once he walks into the lobby and sees the view out back.

mousemommy1 had a great Woods View bunk last year that had a castle/Wishes view:

:rotfl: I am holding on to The beaches of Ft. Wilderness. I can do this! Must.be.strong.

WDWKOOK- I admire your resolve to keep the cabin plan! It must be very hard being here so often and helping people with their WL questions, knowing that your next trip will be across the lake. Also, I know I have said this before, but I love how you answer everyone's questions and no one ever feels ignored. There are also so many regulars here :) who do the same. It all adds up to a very nice place to hang out-just like the Lodge!
My 180 ADR experience on February 3rd: I ended up calling at around 7:30 a.m. Got BoG for our arrival day dinner within 20 minutes of my planned time and also got all my other ADRs on my exact days and times. The only problem was linking to my DH and DD's My Dis Exp app. I ended up doing that manually, one ADR at a time, on my laptop. I had no wait time on the phone and the CM was very nice. My ADRs: BoG, Boma, Via Napoli, Yachtsman Steakhouse, Raglan Road, and Artist Point (all dinners) and Trail's End for breakfast. No Tokyo Dining yet. Since we are staying in the villas we will have breakfasts there and also lunch/snack foods. On the nights we don't have dinner ADRs (only 2) we will either do QS or add something later. We can't handle big dinners every night and have canceled ADRs in the past because we actually felt full from the night before!

You're so sweet, thank you, bluecastle:goodvibes. You're so right that everyone here is helpful and polite and never judgmental about my changes:upsidedow. I'm getting pretty excited about the cabin. The unknown can be both exciting and worrisome, but I'm looking forward to seeing for myself what it feels like to stay over there. I'm still on the fence about a golf cart though:scratchin

Your Boma ADR made me think of Zebra Domes:goodvibes. I'm glad to see you're trying Trail's End; I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. I'm looking forward to your BoG review! Hope you'll file a TR with us.

I hope all our northeastern/New England Lodgers are OK. What are your snow totals so far?

5 inches here, not bad at all, but I'm only in PA. Mousemommy you're in CT - how much did you get?

Kook- I think I answered you on the RC thread...the mayor said we had 23, but with the drifting it is hard to tell. I would say between 18-23 inches! The drive is clear and we are heading out soon to see what's open for dinner.

We booked our Bounce back for December. :) We really love the lodge but haven't had very much time for exploration. We are looking forward to a more relaxing trip here next time. We haven't been to WDW at Christmastime in a very long time.

We'll be at the lodge in December also!! Yay. I'm super excited for that trip!

We're actually a wee further up in NH...and we got 24 inches!!! :scared1:

It's fine, no power outages or anything. But, we are New Englanders...it was just another day....:rotfl:

When they say that here in CT I always laugh because we said it in Michigan too!!
Supposedly we got 23 inches, but it's hard to tell with the drifting...

Our drifts are as tall as me....I'm 5'3" :headache:

I'm willing to believe that 24 inches actually fell...this time anyway...:rotfl:

We ventured out to Bertuccis for dinner, the roads we were on were cleared to the pavement and it was pretty smooth sailing:) Hamden CT got 40 inches!! Glad we weren't them:)
