(CLOSED) Disney's WILDERNESS LODGE and VILLAS Information Thread ~2012~

I confirmed with the IPO (for the second time) and they said that the Deluxe Rooms do have fans. I told them I saw a recent pic of the deluxe room and it did not have one. I hope they are right. My husband wanted to stay at the Cabins due to cost and was I able to talk him into Wilderness Lodge Deluxe room one of the main reasons being the stupid fan! He will not be happy if he spent thousands more on a room when they told us they have them.
IPO has confirmed the fan, the April 2012 Deluxe room photo I posted this morning shows the fan, the Deluxe room layout in post #2 shows the fan and the WDW booking site shows the fan above the queens in the Deluxe room slideshow: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/resorts/wilderness-lodge-resort/rates-rooms/ ...so I'm betting there's a fan::yes::

So this is kind of an odd question. We're booked in a deluxe room at WL Dec 29-Jan 10. 4 adults (mom, dad, grandma and great-aunt), 2 kids.
What's storage like in these rooms? I hate digging through suitcases every day on vacation.
Welcome! There are Deluxe room photo links on the first page/post #2 and many Deluxe room photos on the WDW booking site: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/resorts/wilderness-lodge-resort/rates-rooms/

They have the same storage as a STD room (armoire with drawers/closet shelves/coffee maker stand with drawers and fridge below), with the addition of one additional drawer which is in the table that holds the second TV in the sitting room with the queen sofa bed. In addition to AngiTN's great idea, make sure you utilize the closet shelving since it's going to be a bit crowded:crowded::crowded:

Sorry I am on my phone and thought I quoted. This is in response to the fan in deluxe rooms. The more I think about it the more I really don't remember if our room had one. Sorry I know not very helpful!

You know I swear ours didn't have one but I certainly wouldn't bet my life on it. I admit I am not the most observant person! I would just have the IPO include it on your room reservation in case maybe some of the rooms truly don't have them. The air conditioning in our room worked great... And we would leave both outside doors open in the morning to get a breeze so I didn't ever even think about a fan.

I am going to trust them and hope for the best. I didn't think to add it as a request because they said deluxe rooms all have them. We'll see!

Hopefully you will get a fan! Your question is driving me nuts. I actually just checked my trip photos looking for a fan! We apparently didn't take a ton of shots of the bedroom but what we did don't show a fan. My DH also swears there wasn't one. I can't believe I can't remember... shows I am getting old! Overall we LOVED our Deluxe room. I thought the layout was great and we definitely made the most of the club level amenities.

I thought the storage was good. We stayed in one in December and brought a ton of clothes. I was ready for 90 degree weather or 40! There are two dressers in the bedroom... One is more of a tall wardrobe that you can hang clothes and there are shelves with a couple of small drawers in it. There is also a long closet in the living room. You could request extra hangers and hang lots of stuff or also maybe bring one of the fabric shelve things that hang off a closet bar. I always like to immediately unpack out of suitcases and didn't have a problem.

We arrived at the lodge yesterday and were greeted at the door by a CM who knew our name. I was pretty impressed at that since we aren't staying concierge level, we are just staying in woods view room. Our room is on the sixth floor with a view of the castle. Our daughter is four doors down, closer to the end by the lake, and has an perfect view of the castle. She got an upgrade from a standard room. It is a great room. :)

We went swimming yesterday and the kids loved the slide. They have flotation vests for the children to use, which was great. We've ridden the boats to both MK and the CR, and really enjoy that option.

We really like this resort.

Great to hear from you!

What a wonderful upgrade for your DD and it sounds like everyone is happy. So, have you been looking over the BB offer?:rotfl:

We are here now. What's the BB offer?? What phone number do we call again? I have seen it here before but can't remember it.

Thanks

The BB offer, if there is one, should be in the packet you received when you checked in at WL. I believe the number is 8844.

If there isn't a (clock-shaped?)card on the table or dresser you can ask the concierge in the lobby or I believe the Bounceback phone number is: 407-939-1922. I don't know what the current savings offer is though, but it might be Free Dining.

Hi Everybody,

We just booked our airfare, finalizing out Sept BB trip to WL after a great trip last Sept. We thought we'd have to wait till summer to get a great deal, but we were able to book for less than half of last year's rate, so it is official now, we ARE going back to WL. :cool1:

The bounceback offer in in your packet that you get when you check in. It's in the middle of the Be Our Guest Guide. It's not in the room any more.

Pretty sure the current BB offer is a room discount. No free dining unless it just changed

We just got back last week from another wonderful vaca at WDW. Wilderness Lodge looks GREAT with the updates. Love the new furniture in the lobby, and the rooms feel more airy and fresh.

We had a bit of Disney magic happen...got an upgrade! We've never had that happen before. The room discount we booked months ago was just a standard view, so I expected to see the roof of the bus stop or something, which we didn't really care about anyway...we're hardly there. We ended up with a "courtyard view," but in reality it was a view of the entire BAY!! Was one of the end rooms on the 5th floor. It was amazing and we felt so lucky.

The BB offer was in the packet, and I think it was a room-only discount of 35%. But we always go in January, so those BB offers never really help us.

Mugs were the same design as last year and Roarin Forks had the same food choices. Only bummer was they no longer had the amazing chicken wings at Territory Lounge, so we only had apps in the bar once. The fondue with pretzel bread was just ok....wouldn't have it again.

But we had a terrific time with lots of Magic....like happening to be on the boat from GF back to MK to catch our boat to WL at the same time the MK fireworks were going off!! Amazing.

Already looking forward to 2014 :hourglass
