SMASH thread!

I'm kind of irked that they did the two hours, which was really two episodes, and then they are skipping a week.

I *loved* the premiere! Those two hours went by so fast - BAM! There was an awful lot going on.

I actually got weepy when the bartender guy was playing the piano and singing the song about getting to Broadway (my brain is semi-frozen today, forgive me).

Ivy does look more natural this year, I agree with whichever PP said that. I also think she looks physically different - like her face is more full or something? :confused3

So bummed that there's no new episode until the 19th.

Is there no show next week?

Nope. It will be back on the 19th.

This week is the start of February Sweeps Week on TV, where the networks compete with the best episodes of their shows to sweep the ratings wars and bring in all the advertizing dollars for next season. Splash had to make a "splash" in the ratings this week. I wonder what they are sticking in the time slot next week? :scratchin

I liked the show. I'm glad they got rid of Julia's family AND the Michael Swift character. That whole story line made her a week and whiny schoolgirl. I'm glad that Tom kicked her butt in gear about it all.

I was surprised that Karen is acting a bit diva-ish. Firing Ivy? Wow!

I don't like the two new boys. And that's what they seem like, two adolescent boys. I don't get a sense of history between the two. I was surprised when the one said they grew up together. And I'm not sure what he does as part of their composing duo.

The other one is just an arrogant @**. I don't see any chemistry between him & Karen. He looks younger than her and certainly acts immature. He can sing though!

As someone else said, Eileen needs a new hair style. :headache:

I liked this episode. I was afraid they'd go in some stupid soap opera-y direction with Julia's character. They seemed to have realized the show works best when they keep it about Broadway. :thumbsup2

i enjoyed this episode!

i'm glad they're giving Karen some backbone, but they didn't have to make her such a jerk. i understand why she hates Ivy, but WOW.

Eileen DEFINITELY needs a new hairstyle. it makes her look so odd.

i'm just glad they kept Derek. :lovestruc

as it is right now, i don't care a BIT about the two new guys. and why is Karen suddenly some "big deal"?

I am a bit bummed it got really bad ratings for Tuesdays show.

kae

I love the two new guys! Jerk though he may be (and unrealistically so ... of COURSE anyone would jump at the chance to have their music heard by a famous director, why else live in NYC and write?) but he was AMAZING on the piano. Jennifer Hudson killed it too. Love the new talent!

....I'm not 'feeling' those two guys either, but mebbe they'll grow on me....as for Karen, I guess we are supposed to believe that they got rave reviews in Boston and she therefore got 'big' and became an overnite sensation....:confused3

So ... there was a Bombshell CD signing at Rockefeller Plaza yesterday. And I was there!!

There were probably about 100 people on line; it only took me 1/2 hour to get to the front. They had TV screens with SMASH playing all over the store, and I gabbed with the guy behind me the entire time.

Marc Shaiman, Scott Wittman and Megan Hilty were signing CDs. On the whole, a very nice, gracious group of people. Megan was taking pictures with everyone who asked (I did not! I hate the way I photograph). I congratulated her on her success, and she is very, very nice -- more Glinda than Ivy. I babbled to Scott Wittman, who said his lyrics would be nothing without Megan (how gracious is that??) Marc Shaiman is quiet, but I have a weird connection with him (many years ago, our parents lived together in the same gated community and our fathers played cards together) (I told you it's strange). So we talked about that.

All in all, a fun event and I have a signed CD! :cool1:

....ITA, AND I don't think he can sing all that well - okay, yes, fantastic, NO. Not even that cute either....:confused3

Awesome event. So that cd your talking about is also available on a website called...
https://mymcpl.freegalmusic.com/users/sndlogin

It is a public library site that allows 3 free downloads a week. The new cd is one of the new titles they added. You just have to join and be a member that doesn't have any late fees from your library. It really is a great deal. I saw this at my library on a flyer and took a look and really couldn't believe the great deal it is. It is basically any Sony released artist/label stuff.

I've downloaded music from there! I wouldn't have bought the CD if I wasn't going to get it signed. You had to buy something at the store.
