Boy it's rough to return to 4 inches of snow, since the week at WDW was 80's and mid 70's!!!!
We did the parks, the transportation and the restaurants and food courts....Any questions? just ask...We DID get a lot of attention with our "20th Visit" and "30th Visit" buttons!!!!

Sounds like a great visit! :) Did you happen to try Be Our Guest?

For our upcoming trip we will have 6 people in our party. My wife, my mother in law, my 2 daughters (9 and 10) and my daughters friend (11).

I'm thinking it would be nice to book a room with a king size bed (is this a booking category?) for one room and then the normal 2 double bed room for my MIL and the 3 kids.

But we really "need" connecting rooms, otherwise my MIL might revolt. So while I know they can't guarantee connecting rooms, I'm guessing I have less of a chance of getting them with a king room in the mix as there are so many less king bed room.

Correct assumption? Should I just go with two normal rooms? Or can I request a King room? Is that request-able vs booking?

Thanks!
Todd

King beds are not a bookable option at POP, but you can request one. There are few of them though, and most are the handicap accessible rooms so the chances of getting one are slim. But not impossible! :thumbsup2

Hi does anybody know which building is closest to the bus stop at POP Century

Here is a link to the resort map: http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/pop.htm

Probably Buildings 10 and 9 are closest to the bus stops, but some of it is a matter of perception. We've been in buildings 1, 2, 3 and 6 -- lake views are my favorite, so further from the bus stops. I never felt like it was a long walk to the stops.

As Sandi posted, bldgs 6 & 10 are close to busing, as bldgs 4 & 5 is you look at going thru Classic Hall on the way to the bus stops. It is a matter of perception -- and equally important would be your room location in each building. You could be in bldg 6 facing the lake (backside, closer to the end) and have the end room in bldg 5 (nearest and facing Classic Hall). The bldg 5 room is closer. :)

Like Sandi, we book standard and request lakeview, and we don't believe that it was a long walk to busing from any of the rooms we've had. Pop is a compact resort and most rooms are within a 4-8 minute walk to Classic Hall/Busing. :goodvibes

Just to add, since connecting rooms seem to be your number 1 priority, list that first, followed by the King room request. It can't hurt to ask, it could happen. :goodvibes

It will depend too on how full POP is at the time, are you going over Spring break?? Or earlier in the month?

If at check in, you find that you are not assigned connecting rooms including a King, ask the CM if they can find you one. :)

Thanks - we are going the first week of Spring Break - check in on 3/8 with check out on 3/16.

is sending the FAX still the best way to make a request, with 3 previous trips I scored exactly what I wanted 2 times...the 3rd not so much.

Suggest that you call Disney and have your requests added to your reservations (unless you booked thru a travel agent, then they can add your requests). Make sure the 2 room reservations are linked (if you have not already done so).

Regarding Faxes, from the FAQ thread...Disney no longer encourages room requests via fax. However, there has been a fluctuation on this issue throughout the resorts. If you would like to send a fax, please keep in mind to do so no sooner than 10 days prior to arrival or later than 4 days prior to arrival

We personally do not fax requests, electing instead to add our requests at booking or afterwards. With the addition of the online check in (when guests can make requests), Disney is streamlining the check in process, and in my opinion discouraging faxes. But do what you feel comfortable. :)

YES...we did~ I loved the idea of Quick Serve at lunch. Well worth the wait to get in...It was about 15 minutes to get over the bridge...not long at all. The idea of the kiosk to place your order...very smart. Just try to get behind someone with a small party, because a family with lots of kids might slow you down. They each have to choose their sides and drink choices, and it can get a little bit slow....The rooms are beautiful, and the fact that you can get your own drink is great, no need to wait for a refill on a hot day,,,Just be careful on your way to the drink station...the server carts are zipping by every minute from the kitchen ~ nice touch to keep the meals hot in transit. I highly recommend the Braised Pork at Lunch...Delicious...don't believe me? Ask the Dishes!!!:rotfl2:

We had a TS at BoG in January and we loved it!! We were seated in the West Wing, which was kind of nice (even though the room is dark) -- smaller room, less hectic than the main room (and agree the servers do zip around fast!)

We passed up lunch there, the line seemed very long... but i wonder if it would of moved quickly?? Oh well next time... I'll keep your pork meal recommendation filed away. :goodvibes

Did you.... Try the grey stuff, it's delicious, Don't believe me? Ask the dishes!! :rotfl2: BTW, the grey stuff très delicious!!! :thumbsup2

I haven't been to the World in a long time but am going with teens January 2014 and one of my sons asked abt BOG. Is lunch a quick service with no reservations needed?

We've got a laptop bigger than what will fit in the safe. Can anyone tell me if there's something non-movable in the room that I could loop about 4' of lock cable through/around/etc. to secure our laptop in the room? For instance, at work, it's looped around the countertop in my cubicle (there's a small gap between the back of the counter and the cube wall so it fits).

Obviously it won't keep it from turning on, so we'll password-protect it, but we're hoping the cable will work to make sure it doesn't go astray.

Thanks!
Sheri

We ate in the same room...preferred it over the rest,,loved the darkness and quiet...
The lunch line was over the bridge but moved quickly,,,got into the building and at the ordering kiosk within 20 minutes....worth the wait.
We did NOT try the grey stuff!...I forgot to order it...NEXT time!!! Thanx!

Your sons will enjoy it...Talking/snoring/ suits of armour in the Queue.....and go at lunch for sure...they get to input their own meals at the kiosk before entering your choice of 3 dining areas....Serve yourself drink area with refills also.....Loved the braised pork....Don't get the Pommes Frites (just ordinary cold french fries) Get it with the Mashed Potatoes!!
SORRY,,,THIS SHOULD BE POSTED ON THE DINING THREAD!!!!!! YOU CAN MOVE ME OVER IF YOU WANT!!!
