POR should be fine. POFQ has a few rooms, but since it is a smaller resort there typically aren't too many.

Yes we missed out on the lastest offer for free dining due to Sandy. I'm hoping that something is offered in the near future. I'm going in Apr for a quick 5 day trip w/my neice and her DD's 1st ever trip to ALL the parks. She visited MK last yr as part of her Disney Cruise option....:cool1::cool1:

Why did you miss out because of Sandy? :( Were you supposed to go and had to cancel so you could not get the bounceback free dining offer?

Sandy was devastating I hope your trip is wonderful.

Do the bookings need to be done thru Disney or can they be done thru an agent ?? am I still eligible for free dining if it is offered ??

Assuming Disney releases FD, you can book either online/thru Disney or through an agent. Eligibility for the promo depends on when you go (you qualify if your check-in date falls within dates specified by Disney) and where you stay (Disney specifies which resorts qualify and some fill up faster than others).

Good luck.

I want to book the mermaid standard rooms at AOA late August and already know that there will be no FD or discounts offered. I don't want to wait to long in case they are not available later on.
So if FD is offered at say the Port Orleans Riverside I should be able to upgrade to that hotel over the phone and would they cancel and rebook?

Thanks

Hello All,
This is our first trip to Disney for most of us. Oct 26-Nov 3, 2013:love:
When the FD is announced where is it announced at?
What package is it?
Should we book now? Should we book a moderate and a value to cover our bases for FD if available?
If we have ressies somewhere that does not offer free dining should we move our ressies? Is it worth it?
There will be 9 of us...two under 10-all others adult.
We want to have an amazing time and need answers on many things..LOL
Many of you are old hats at this and I need your expertise!
Thanks in Advance!

If you have a package booked at AoA you can switch it around without an issue (pending availability). If you have a room only you'll have to cancel and rebook regardless of which resort you're at.

FD will be listed on the WDW special offers page. If they release FD to Visa card holders first you'll see a thread about it on the Resorts Discounts board.

I don't really know what you mean by 'what package is it?' FD is a resort/ticket/dining package. You're paying rack rate for the resort and tickets and getting the dining plan at no additional cost.

I wouldn't book a mod and a value - 2 different deposits... too much irritation for my taste. Regardless of where you book, when you're adding a promo (and even if you aren't) you can check out the costs of other resorts and possibly move it around. Even if you didn't want to move, you might have to. There are a certain number of rooms allowed per resort per promo.

You have reservations somewhere they will either accept the dining plan or they won't. FD has nothing to do with that. If they do not accept the DP it would be up to you to decide whether paying OOP is worth it or not.

Booking now does not give you any guarantee of getting a room at a discounted rate. The discounts offered are based on inventory available (unbooked). So if you want to book ahead of time, only book at where you most likely want to stay. Then once (if) a discount comes out, you check to see if it is available for your resort. If it is not available, you can ask what resorts are available and switch it, if the discount is more important to you than where you stay. They will tell you how much it saves you, so you can decide whether the savings is more impotant or the resort of choice is more important. We have never been all that picky about where we stay, so we have had to switch resorts for a discount in the past. :goodvibes

On 12/6/2012 I was staying at CS before a DCL cruise. In the room was a paper for free dining with dates. (don't remember the dates)
Was told that the dining was NOT for the Art of Animation regular rooms only suites.
I made a reservation for POP 8/22 - 9/1 and upgraded to regular dining :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2
