Next in this morning was an update from CaliBear.

She and her DBF had dinner on Thursday night at...

'Ohana

CaliBear said, "I'm sure you can guess from this first photo where we ate: 'Ohana! This was DBF's choice. It was a late dinner, 9:20 ADR and they were running 20 min. behind."

"The bread was good. It tastes like King's Hawaiian but heartier." ;)

"This photo doesn't do justice to how much salad is in that bowl. They gave the two of us enough for 4 or 5. I took the fruit (mango? I think) out of my portion and it was delicious without it."

A20FD1AA-53CD-4702-9F13-C6D3414207D2-21519-000014EB67AD7AC1.jpg

"Here are the chicken wings and potstickers. DBF loved the potstickers."

AC2E83F8-2D59-403C-A5EA-EF3518CA1160-21519-000014EB6C159EEA.jpg

"Next the noodles and stir-fried vegetables, which was mostly broccoli. Very good!"

"This is why DBF wanted to eat here: meat! I loved the pork and chicken the best. His favorite was the shrimp, but it was the potstickers that he liked best of everything."

Then we received an update from tallen429.

She and her mom and DS had breakfast this morning at...

"Mom and I shared a Western Omelette with home fries and a side of sausage. Our omelette was actually really good and the home fries were cooked really nicely. We enjoyed all of it. And of course, you know we had to have beignets!"

I will be there 2 weeks from today! Still haven't completely finalized our ADRs due to my daughter's College Program work schedule. I have to wait until next Sunday to know when she will be able to dine with us while we are there. This is not good for a planner like me... I'll keep you posted!

I just wanted to say thank you Barb for all your hard work on this thread. It must be a lot of work but I check it multiple times a day and get so much enjoyment out of it. It truly makes me feel like I am right there in Disney and is helping so much with upcoming trip planning. This thread is like a mini vacation.:goodvibes

I don't often comment but I just want to let you know how much I appreciate it even if I mostly lurk. I am so grateful for your hard work!:flower3:

Hey Barb! The GoofySon and I would love to report live during our short March trip ... March 22nd thru the 26th! I love this thread and hope you are able to keep it going but I do recognize the amount of time you must spend! Again, I bow to you! :worship:

Love this thread! I'd love to contribute if you decide to keep the thread going. We'll be going April 30-May 10, 2 adults & 1 child (he's 4), and we're on the DDP. Thanks for all your hardwork!!

I'm so glad that you are enjoying the thread. It is posts like yours that keep me going with this. Thanks so much for coming forth to comment! :goodvibes

Thanks Vicki! :) I am still hoping to take that week off, if you know what I mean. ;) But if not, then I would love to have you doing live updates again. It would definitely help me get over my disappointment. :worried:

Now for a final update from AlohaPolynesian, who's trip ended on Thursday.

She said, "Returned to work yesterday and was swamped so I never had a chance to send a final update. Per my 5 year old niece's request, my last lunch with them was at Pizza Planet at DHS! I have only eaten at the Pizza Planet in DLR, so this was new to me."

Toy Story Pizza Planet

"I asked the CM to get the veggie pizza without cheese, and she huffed and puffed and said "yes but it is going to take a really long time....". I said that was fine and she huffed and puffed and said it will also take a really long time to put the order in and am I sure I just don't want a regular one with the cheese?" :rolleyes2

image-1.jpg

Vegetable Pizza (no cheese) ;)

"Our order also included a kids meal with cheese pizza and an adult pepperoni pizza. I got a non-Caesar salad with Italian dressing instead of the normal Caesar salad. Everyone enjoyed their food!" :thumbsup2

"Also wanted to show a photo of my soy latte being made at the Poly Kona Island coffee/sushi bar. They use the same tube they use in the regular milk, which I can't believe and think is gross. She just shoved the tube in a box of soymilk."

image1-2-2.jpg

"This caught my eye so I watched her make the drink. I never saw her put in espresso, so I asked to make sure. She said she did. My drink tasted super sweet but I thought maybe it was just the soymilk they used or something. However right around 4PM I got that lovely caffeine withdrawal headache. So I was right - she did forget the espresso! Had to get some Nescrap from the Lunching Pad in MK to attempt to save myself!" ;)

And since that was AlohaPolynesian's final update, it's now time to say...

Hi Barb! We are headed to the World, May 21st- June 1st staying at BLT! I mentioned it months ago lol that if the thread was up still I would love to text some updates! I think we have a pretty good dining line up and I have my snack list ready to go :rotfl: We are also getting married the 27th at the Royal Pacific (I know the dark side haha but such a beautiful resort) and we are hosting a dinner after so I should have some nice pics from there, considering we have about 30 people who will be with us at the wedding and throughout various days of our vacation! :cool1:

PS Thank you again for this awesome thread!! It's my nightly Disney food fix!
Nicole :goodvibes

Next we have the first update from a new reporter, arbolita.

Theresa and her DH, Scott, arrived at Disney World and their first meal was at Downtown Disney's...

Beefy Brisket Sandwich & Onion Rings
Braised beef brisket on multigrain roll with caramelized onions & horseradish cream

"I had the Beefy Brisket. It was delicious, except the menu said it came with a horseradish sauce, which I saw on the sandwich but didn't really taste. The beef was fantastic though!"

And some close up shots...

Keen eye for the Shepherd’s Pie

"My husband had the Shepherd's Pie. He enjoyed it, but not as much as during a previous trip. I think he's gotten used to my recipe and doesn't like anything as much as mine, haha."

IMG_6389.jpg

"For dessert, Ger's Bread and Butter pudding. It was my main reason for coming here, and it was delicious, as always!" :thumbsup2

"I also took a picture turning myself into Mickey Mouse." :lmao:

Then we have a lunch update sent by tallen429 from Magic Kingdom's...

Sleepy Hollow

Tricia said, "I had the idea to get the waffle sandwiches from Sleepy Hollow and surprise mom and Logan. We all shared one prosciutto ham and Swiss waffle sandwich and one Nutella and fruit. And also got one iced mocha."

Nutella and Fruit Waffle Sandwich

Tricia said, "I liked the Nutella but only a couple of bites. It was very sweet. Logan liked it! The ham and swiss is good but the cream cheese type spread they put on it I didn't care for. I can't pinpoint why. The iced mocha was very refreshing and not too sweet."

And now we have a great update from CaliBear, regarding her attempt to "Eat Around the World" yesterday at Epcot.

Let's see how they did, shall we? ;)

She said, "We had already eaten in Canada, and they don't have anything quick and easy anyway so our plan was to do 10 countries. Originally we had planned to begin with breakfast at Les Halles since they open early, but we slept in and puttered around the resort so it was lunchtime by the time we got there."

"These were both delicious. The churros did not need any sauce, as they were wonderful as is, but we enjoyed the sauce as a bonus." ;)

Tipsy Ducks in Love - Creamy Cold tea and coffee combo

"It turns out they have an assortment of bao there and we wished we'd tried them instead of the potstickers, but we needed to save room. We had yueng yang at Joy of Tea, also called "Tipsy Ducks in Love". This is tea and coffee mixed together with milk. You can also get this with whisky and with whipped cream, but mine has neither. I liked this a lot. I'm sure it's great with the whiskey too."

Bratwurst served with sauerkraut on a roll

"I don't like the sauerkraut so DBF took it off and ate it as a side. He said it was good. I had my portion of brat with that gulden's mustard. He had his with ketchup. The sausage itself was yummy. The bread seemed a little stale."

From Italy's Via Napoli...

Arancini - fried risotto balls filled with mozzarella and meat ragu

"The Italy pavilion really needs to sell pizza by the slice. But it doesn't so we had arancini from Via Napoli. I'd never had this and I thought it was very good. DBF thought there was too much risotto, not enough meat and cheese, but he liked it for what was there."

Cream Cheese Stuffed Pretzel

"We tried the cream cheese pretzel, not the jalapeno one. We thought this was disgusting. Half of it went in the trash. The pretzel itself was yummy, but the cream cheese filling was way too sweet."

"At this point it was 5:00 p.m. and we had 2 1/2 hours until our ADR at Teppan Edo, so we decided to stop and go shopping for awhile."

Stay tuned for Part III :thumbsup2

So what do you think, did CaliBear and her DBF admit defeat and call it a night after their dinner at Teppan Edo? :confused3

HECK NO!!! :thumbsup2

They forged on to Morocco, where they picked up this from the Tangeriene Cafe...

They chose...

Cheese Plate
(Also pictured is the shortbread they bought from the UK's Twinings Tea Shop)

"We had the baklava for breakfast this morning, along with the cheese plate from Les Halles and the shortbread. We felt bad cheating with the shortbread, but the only "to go" option we could find was a cheese plate from the pub. Sounds good, but maybe next time since we already had the French cheese plate. We liked all 5 cheeses, but especially the blue cheese. The baklava was good too."

"So we didn't get them all in one day and we have one pre-packaged item, but we had fun and now we know where we want to try more from next trip (France and Mexico in particular) and where we want to skip (China, at least Lotus Blossom)." ;)

Well that's all for tonight folks, but I'll be back tomorrow with the rest of today's great updates. There's also an excellent dinner update from Jiko sent by tallen429, as well as the final update from CaliBear, who's trip ended today. :sad1:

Much to look forward to, so be sure to check back tomorrow! :thumbsup2
