Thank you! The kids are being so great - they are making breakfast and staying positive and just wanting their Dad to be safe. I talked to the manager at Alamo at Reagan and she was so wonderful and is going to switch the reservation for us. So there's pixie dust!

DH just called, he is back on the plane and they are pushing back AGAIN. I won't breath a sigh of relief until he is airborne.

Bright side - I get to meet Teena tomorrow :cool1:

I like the bright side :cool1: I keep talking about this thread to my family, they think I've lost my mind, but I told them about Teena!! I said (and it's a long way off) that maybe we will get to meet her too when we are there!!!

:cheer2: Yeah for kids who are understanding, you are blessed!!! Now, may your DH make it home and your family will be complete once again!!

Can you please send GALLONS of that?
He NEVER got in the air!!! They went back to the gate; Security breach - was swarmed by agents who took 3 guys off the flight - then they all had to deplane and the plane is being combed over by bomb sniffing dogs.
YOU SERIOUSLY CANT MAKE THIS STUFF UP!!!!!

We just want him home safe and sound...:scared:

I am truly so sorry that your family is going through this!!!

On the bright side................you could contact a writer and have a book written??? Sell it as a "Suspense Novel, Disney Style" Think of all the future Disney Vacation funds you could make from it!!! Just kidding, hoping to crack a smile out of you in such a crazy situation.

I do hope the rest of your vacation time runs smoothly.

Oh ALMinVA, I'm so sorry that you are having all this drama right before you are suppose to be having a magical moment departing to the happiest place on earth. You are right, you can't make this stuff up!!!! I hope this vacation is ALL you hoped for. I also feel SO bad for your babies and hope they get special treatment for their brave faces during the turmoil. Stay strong!!!! xoxox

Well my friends,
DH is in the air, kids are back to excited and I called the YC CL folks to inform them of our late arrival. I happened to ask if our room had been assigned and they said YES, that we were placed in a lagoon pool view room with 2 queen beds and day bed.
Now - correct me if I'm wrong but isn't that a bit of pixie dust?
I paid for a garden view room ::yes::
Also, I had requested a day bed and that wish has been granted!

Must be all that pixie dust you folks have been sending our way :thumbsup2

So once you get on the road, you have such a great room to look forward to and a wonderful relaxing vacation ahead.

So glad to hear everything is starting to move forward and you will be enjoying your fun in the sun soon. :goodvibes

Take your husband out for a grey goose slushie, or a stop at La Cava. He's going to need a drink after all he's gone through!

Have a great trip!

We are so excited because we are planning the best Disney trip ever!! I've always wanted to have extra time to enjoy the parks without exhausting myself and it looks like this year will be that trip. We are going with a friend for 8 days at Port Orleans Riverside, then my daughter and I are taking the 4 day cruise (our first cruise!), then we will be spending 5 nights at the Beach Club! I can hardly stand the wait!! I love reading this board and I look forward to hearing all about your trips.

It is chilly and icy here in North Carolina tonight so I thought I'd think warm thoughts by posting a quick review of our BC CL stay. This was my 4th stay at BC, 3rd CL so I knew what to expect. We were greeted on arrival and escorted to the 5th floor. I love sitting down and being offered a beverage while I check in. The kids went straight into the lounge for the hot evening appetizers which included bacon wrapped scallops and seared tuna that night. As I mentioned earlier, we were upgraded to a water view room (5687) but that was never mentioned to us when we checked in. Our room was very quiet. We did hear some quiet elevator humming- not sure where it came from as we didn't see any elevator nearby. When I walked to the lounge, I realized that I was glad we were not in the first span of hallway off the lounge as I think this could be noisy in the mornings.
Thanks for the review.

pixiedust: Yeah!!!!!! Glad to hear he is in the air and soon you will be on your way!!! I even have my husband asking me now about how things are going for you!!! :cool1:

Hi! booking yc cl for next week. What gets better results, emailing the ipo your room requests or calling the regular disney phone number and having them add them? TIA I love YC CL and hope Shakira is there again!:cool1:

Some day you'll look back on this and laugh and say "remember when......". At least this will be a vacation you will always remember!!!:cheer2::cheer2:

I'm contemplating whether or not it really matters to go with garden view or not. I'm booked in a standard room at the BC right now for our split stay in May. Going Deluxe is a HUGE splurge already which is why I only did a standard room. It's only $40 more for Garden View, but I'm finding I keep saying that about everything and am afraid of it all adding up at the end.

For those who have stayed both standard and garden view, did it really matter? Was the view from a standard room that terrible? Or did GV really enhance the experience?

This is a really big trip for us and we are doing lots of things we normally don't, like the deluxe resort, and signing up for extras like the pirate cruise and pirates league and I'm hoping to have a specialty cake done up for dinner one night, etc. My usually very frugal self is starting to freak out-lol. :scared: I almost panicked and went back to staying moderate but I've calmed down now.

So, what do you think? Is GV going to add to the magic?

TIA
Heather

That sounds incredible! Enjoy your trip!

Teena is back on shore, and headed home. Hopefully she is getting her balance back after 14 days on the ship, but if you meet her in the next day or two and she seems unusally wobbly, you know why!

I'm headed out now, but when I get home, I'll post the pictures she sent to me and some of her comments about the cruise.

Yeah, what she said... and if Teena thinks she is at Pop Century while at work this weekend then just humor her until she completes the mental check in process after returning to shore.

No more Chateaubriand, Caribbean pretzel bread or a big something chocolate delicious for her! It's back to the low life for Teena, peanut butter and jelly crackers and good old Florida tap water, yum, yum, yum! :faint:

(who is existing on peanut butter and jelly crackers and tap water herself these days!)

We have stayed both standard view and garden view. The garden views that we have gotten have been the side facing the trees along the Epcot side of the resort. I like that view because it is relaxing and a great shortcut to Epcot.

We had a standard view room of the courtyard that faced the villas which was fine. We didn't have a balcony in that room so there really wasn't any reason to look outside.

The other standard view room was a view of the parking lot above a huge flat roof. It would have been better if it was a higher floor because it almost felt like you were sitting on the roof. The nice part about that room is that it had a full balcony and it was very quiet over there. You couldn't hear any traffic or buses. And it was very private. No one was walking by looking up at you, which you often get in the garden view rooms.

We have always booked either a standard view or a garden view and have gotten free upgrades many times. One time we got a junior suite!
