Disney's ALL-STAR SPORTS RESORT Information & Questions

Checking in on Feb 3. I love A/S Sports and have always had a great stay there! What's making me a bit nervous this time is that - although I booked with a great AP in November - for over a month now there is no availability, even at rack rate!

I am hoping maybe it has something to do with the refurbishment. :confused3

I've read all 170 pages but I didn't really see any information on this. Is there a pool bar? For anyone that has stayed at pop can you compare the 70's section to the baseball section at sports distance wise to the main building? Just one more :) How easy is it to get a king bed? Thanks for the help.

The pool bar at Sports is connected to the food area but the pool is closer to the main buidling too. I agree with the previous poster that the baseball section is about as far as the 70's building at pop. You do have the football building length and then the baseball buildings are on angles to the end of the football building. The buildings at sports are set closer to each other and have 2 less rooms on each end of the buildings making them shorter than at Pop if that helps. I would think there are as many King rooms at Sports as at Pop. As for how likely it is to get one I have no clue but you can ask for one at check in. In my experience Sports is more accomodating than Pop when it comes to room requests.

Thanks. There are five of us so we will have two rooms. I was just wondering about our chances of getting a king room connected to a regular double room. The pool bar is a must for the hubby. That would be a deal breaker. With three boys a resort themed around sports is ideal. I also like the idea of a smaller resort. Thanks for all the info.

There are dance and cheer competitions. I am staying at Sports on the 2nd for 1 night before our cruise. I was considering booking a night or 2 on the 7th and 8th, in case we can't fly home due to weather, but there was NOTHING at any of the Values or Mods. Then I found out there is a dance competion at WWOS on the 1&2 and a cheer competition on the 8-10.

Thanks! I couldn't find any information, but figured it had to be some type of organized activity or the refurbishment! It will all be good, I'm sure! :thumbsup2

Laura, spend time at the pool bar.
you won't notice anything that is happening then.

you won't hear any noise after your second glass of refreshment........::yes::

Darn - not this year. We're doing Food & Wine the first week of November. Cruising to Canada the end of September/early October. Some other time then! :flower3:

My family and I are staying here for the first time - we'll be there in one week! I'm really excited. This is a surprise trip for DS. He is a huge sports fan, so I know he'll love the theme. I've requested to be in the Home Run section, as DS's favorite sport is baseball, but we'd be happy with any section.

DS and DH are also staying here for a night in May when they take a quick trip to go to a Star Wars Weekend at DHS.

I have some questions about All Star Sports. I've done Pop Century before and enjoyed it, but looking for a break from such a large resort. Is this the first resort of those three resorts for pick ups (used to Pop Century and dedicated buses)? The decor looks cool to me as a big sports fan. Is there a map of the place to see which building I should request? Also, Are there any big sports groups from February 28-March 4? Thanks for the help on it.

if the buses would share, sports would be the first pick up and drop off.

there has been very few times (4) that the sports bus was shared while i was staying at All Stars.

i have had 25 stays at Sports.
all have been in the Surfs Up or Touchdown buildings.
but have visited friends in Tennis and Home Run Inn.

this link from Allears shows the basic structure layout of the buildings:

this link will show the locations and names of all the buildings:

scroll down to get more info about Sports in the above link.

the tax for the All Stars Hotels and the AKL is 13%.
that is a bit more than the other resorts.

if you want to shop for treats, buy them in the park to take back to your room.
if not, you will be paying .5% more in the tax at ASSP.

All Stars hotels are smaller than Pop.
also, the buildings only have 3 stories, not 4 as Pop has.
they also have two rooms shorter than Pop length wise.

i really prefer the smaller buildings.
it is not far at all to walk from one place to another there.
for me, i feel it is more quiet at all stars sports rather than at Pop.
less people and less spread out than Pop.

you can also eat at the other 2 sister hotels.

And it is not that long of a walk to visit the other All Star resorts.
Kind of fun to see the other resorts.

I am typing this from my bed at the All Star Sports Resort. :goodvibes

We are staying in Surf's Up Building 1. Our room has not been refreshed with the privacy curtain / bedding. We are enjoying the hotel. The food court is smaller then Pop but I think that is because the resort is smaller. It has not been a problem for us.

We have stayed at Movies, Music and Pop on previous trips and are as happy at Sports as we were at the others.

I know most ask for rooms closer to the foodcourt, but I guess I'm different, it doesn't bother me to walk, I like to ask for a room farther away facing away from pools towards the parking lots...seems to be quieter...we've stayed at the other 3 values,we're hoping to stay here next month if it works out,if not offsite is what we have ressies for now and maybe one day we'll get here!;)

Have all the rooms been recently refurbished? We haven't stayed at Sports for several years but my DSis and I are thinking about a trip in April and wondered if they were going to refurbish all the rooms. My DH and I have been staying at POR because we enjoy taking the boat to DTD but my DSis and I thought we would try to do a budget trip and try Sports again.
