So excited to be joining this thread because it means I will actually be staying at the Yacht Club in August!!! Just got my confirmation on a super deal that could not be passed up. :cool1:

I don't think I am even going to tell my boys about SAB, just surprise them. They are going to LOVE it! They are pool/ cool slide obsessed.

Never visited and haven't even been near the Boardwalk area since 1998 when it was pretty new. So I now have to go back and read this whole thread! Pirate cruises, shipwrecks and secret doors...oh my!

Silly question for you...is there a door that separates the bathroom sinks from the rest of the room? We've only stayed at a mod before and there was just a curtain. I'm asking because I was wondering if I need to get my husband some ear plugs and one of those eye masks things so we don't bother him while we are getting ready. He gets a little cranky when he gets woken up too early in the morning:)

As others have said - no curtain, but usually tucked around a corner. Looks like this at YC:

And this at BC:

So while the noise is still a factor, we find the light isn't as much of a factor at YC/BC as at a mod.

For example, here's POFQ, with the sinks at the end of the room:

So the light goes straight into the room where the beds are located at most mods. But at YC/BC, the sinks are around the corner, so a little more tucked away. In this YC photo, I'm standing with my back to the balcony and the bathroom sinks are at the opposite end of the room, around the corner from the artwork hanging on the far wall:

Checked in to BC yesterday! Booked CL GV and requested a day bed. Forgot to ask abour request or room type when we checked in (too busy sipping pinot noir and eating seared tuna and bacon wrapped scallops) so was thrilled to see a great view of SAB and the lagoon. Stand only balcony but wide enough for several of us. We also have a day bed. When we had a Deluxe CL room last trip, the day bed was basically made up into a bed, but this day bed actually has a mattress (already withe sheets) sort of built into the back. You pull a handle thing and it all flips into place. Cool and comfy. No complaints fromDS.

Ate at Hacienda last night and loved it. They are not afraid of spice or flavor. Nice usual breakfast in CL lounge and fantaatic lunch at Tangerine Cafe which Id been wanting to try for years. Now chilling in the room before dinner at Flying Fish using our new Tables in Wonderland card!

Thanks for the pictures pixarmom! Hadn't seen any from that view. I see what you mean about it being tucked behind. I think DH will survive :). Have a great evening!

Excellent photo tour PixarMom!

You captured what I was trying to explain. Nice to have the comparison photo from a mod.

Looking at the BC/YC rooms, it's more like a standard hotel room we'd expect when staying elsewhere. I had never stayed in a hotel where there was just a curtain separating the wash area before staying at one of the lower level Disney resorts.

We're staying BC GV CL in May. Any room pictures, view, hallway, lounge,....ceiling, lol, pretty much any angle, would be appreciated so I can live vicariously through you right now!! Lol

I'm so excited to now have a reason for lurking on this thread! We booked BC GV for 10/21-25 (hoping to extend until the 26th but no GV available that night so far). This will be after four nights at AoA Cars suite. I've been a long time lurker to DIS and it has helped tremendously with our past three (four if you count just going to DTD during an offsite trip) visits. I will be traveling with my Army husband, 8yo DD and 5 yo DS, celebrating my 30th at F&W. My mom will be joining us for the first part of the trip at AoA and my dad for our BC stay. I've already learned tons after reading 96 pages and I can't wait to be able to contribute more to this thread! I'm looking forward to taking it easy on this trip after going commando (and therefore driving my husband crazy) on past visits. Thank you for such a wonderful FAQ and thread. Everyone that is active here is so helpful and welcoming! Can't wait to get to know you all more!

Have a blast!!! :) Could you do me a favor and see if they now offer donuts in the morning in the lounge?? We will be there in two weeks and hubby was wondering.

Holy Cow! Lots and Lots of new friends. And most of you are probably not imaginary!

I am going to run out of smilies, so I am going to have to give you all a generic

:welcome:

We are currently booked for GF for next month but think I am going to call and switch to BC today. I was really hoping the pool would open at the GF but the opening date is just getting later and later.

What time does SAB close, I thought I read somewhere that it was going to be the same hours everyday eventually?? Also I noticed that the kiddie slide is going under rehab the feb 12-18, are they usually pretty accurate on their dates?? I've lost hope in rehab dates after the GF (the pool was supposed to be done in DEC). Also I know breakfast is limited but they still have room service right.

Thanks so much, I'm just in a bit of a panic at this point, but think I'm going to be a GF runaway too :)

Let us know when you make the switch official!

:)

Wee booked at BC from August 24th to September 1st. First visit to BC. I have always wanted to stay here and now we are able to with the Magical Vacations Labor Day discount. Will be myself, dh, dd 5 and ds 8:cheer2:

Congrats!!!

So glad you you are coming to the BC. I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list on Page 1 of this thread.

:cool1:

I just booked my first say at the Beach Club. We have stayed at the Poly several times, and really love it (my son loves to see the fireworks over the castle). We wanted to try something different. We visited the Beach Club for the first time in December to go to Cape May (my new favorite place to eat at WDW). The Beach Club pool looks GREAT!! My DS8 and DS6 will love it. We think being so close to Epcot and DS will be good.

This might sound silly, but my biggest concern about staying there is the shortage of QS breakfast options. My sons both love getting Mickey waffles for breakfast (which isn't available at the Beach Club QS), and DS8 is a picky eater and has very little "breakfast" food he will eat. He will eat chicken nuggets for breakfast before school, which is fine with me because at least he ate before school. We have reservations for breakfast at the Captain's Grille for the days we are not going to a park (so they can get their beloved Mickey waffles), but don't want to spend that kind of time on a park day for breakfast.

What does everyone think about the breakfast options there? Does the QS have really good baked goods in the morning (the ones at the Poly were not very good)? Do they have lunch type foods in the pre-made selections available in the morning? I appreciate everyone's advice.:goodvibes

When is your trip? Late May or early June?

I agree, your kids are at great ages to enjoy SAB.

:goodvibes

Just booked 5 nights at the BC club level for our end of Sept food and wine trip! We will have our new born with us who will be a couple of months old, can't wait. MIL will be joining to help with the new baby!

Congrats on the new addition you will be welcoming to the family!

I'll add you to the BOG list.

:banana::banana::banana:

just booked a last minute trip this weekend to yc cl!!

Have fun!!!

:cool1:

Hi everyone :wave2: I'm new to the YC/BC world but I've been busy reading this thread today in an effort to catch up. My eldest daughter is graduating from high school this year:banana: and she has chosen a Disney vacation as her present! We're driving down to save some costs (and aggravation) and originally decided on a split stay with 5 nights at the Dolphin and 5 nights BWI CL. Our last trip we stayed at the BWI and loved it, so that's all fine but....when I added up the price of the room at the dolphin, plus tax, plus resort fee, plus parking it looked like we could stay in a standard view at a deluxe for the same amount assuming AAA discount (for now - hoping for some Disney discount in the future :surfweb:). We wanted to stay somewhere we've never stayed before and so, voila, we though YC or BC (love the Epcot area). So, here's my question, and I'm sorry I'm so long-winded: which resort has the better standard view? Or the least crappy standard view. The decor of both appeal to us so that doesn't matter too much, but a balcony is always nice as long as it's not on top of a rooftop AC unit or something. Any suggestions, or persuasions, all opinions welcome !!! Thanks.

:welcome: and congrats to your daughter!

Let us know if you book at the Yacht or Beach club!

:hyper:

We are booked! August 20-30. What is this labor day special you are all talking about though? I booked rack hoping for a deal lol. Pease let me know if you have some secret deals! Are these dates on an American holiday? Will it be busY? Would I be better off a week earlier?

we are bringing my 15 year old sister with us this time. Her first time ever out of Canada, let alone to Disney world! Over the moon to have her come with us. She's very excited about the pool!

That is so cool that you are bringing your sister for her first trip. What a blast that will be.

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:yay:

Just booked YC CL standard view, do these have daybeds? I was told by CRO that they did so I did not make request.

I believe I responded to your question in another post.

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list for February. :cheer2:

Just made BC reservations for May 26 - June 1.
Our second visit to the Beach Club, but first time with the kids at this resort.

The kids are going to love it!!!

I'll add you to the list.

:)

Well I'd like to thank you and everyone else involved in this thread, its great and you're all so helpful :). I still can't book at the moment, DD is going to be a CM on the ICP during the summer and we've got to wait to find out how we can book to get her discount. I'm 90% sure we'll be staying at the BC, if not that it will be the BW where we stayed last year.

Let us know if you decide to book here!

:woohoo:

Thank you to your husband and to your family for his service to our country!

We're running late this morning, so I have to be brief.

Only one word can describe yesterday - crowded! Went to EP & MK, and we were stunned at how crowded both parks were. It actually felt as crowded as when we visited around NYE! Apparently the Brazilian tour groups have arrived. While I know a lot people complain about them in the main parks section, I didn't find them to be rude or witness anyone misbehaving. There just were a LOT of BIG groups. Hoping for smaller crowds today, but I wouldn't bet on it.

On a positive note, we had a chance to see the PoC "Pirates Training" show for the first time. It was hilarious. I highly recommend it.

Off to DHS this morning & MK again tonight for resis at BoG!

Have a great day.:wizard:

Wow that's a lot if "Diser" families staying in August, how cool!!

Hi All!!
My family is coming back to the Beach Club May 18-25, staying CL for the 3rd time. We stayed CL the first time and have never looked back. Traveling with me is DH, DS12, DS8, and DD6.
This a special trip for my DS12. He has a medical condition that is causing him to lose his hearing, and will be having surgery this summer to try and salvage some hearing. He is very nervous about this so we are hoping to use this trip to distract him. He is planning the whole trip with me and he will get to surprise his siblings the night before we leave, we are not telling them until then.
Thanks so much to all who post in this thread! I have learned so much and laughed so much as I have lurked :goodvibes

Thank you to everyone for the awesome information about CL...ninja mom, your trip report convinced me to change...thank you!

We will be at the BC CL in Oct. This will be our first time at BC. We usually stay at WL or GF, so excited to try an Epcot resort! Our group will be myself, DH, DS-18, and DD-15. My sis and her family will be in the villas there too.

Thanks for posting the pictures! I know what is in those cabinets under the beverage cooler! That's where they keep the trays you can use to transport plates and beverages back to your room.

I miss that cabinet!
