So 110 days to go, another payment made today and I snagged a BOG reservation the other day. I cannot wait to experience BC. Thanks to everyone here for the awesome information and homey feel. Next up booking Pirates League and First haircut at Harmony!

Awesome! We snagged a BOG res for April and Re super excited :). Down to 86 days...

Good morning all,

Yesterday we arrived at WDW for our first stay at the YC CL. Here are a few random thoughts:

1) Don't travel on a plane with a team of college-aged cheerleaders! Apparently there is a big cheering competition at the Wide World of Sports. Well, to our initial amusement, a rather high percentage of college cheerleaders have never flown before and, to our chagrin, become irrationally terrified when either taking off or landing.

2) Love using the ME, but, when 7 teams of cheerleaders arrive at MCO at or neat the same time, it gets crowded & loud down in the waiting area.

3) The YC is definitely quieter than the BC, and it is beautiful. Sorry BC fans - we've gone completely over to the dark side, as we've found our new home.

4) The CL has the best lobster salad! Living in MA, we're seemingly spoiled, in that you can find it pretty much anywhere. However, the chefs that cater to the the Regatta Club are truly masters of their craft.

5) It is so much quicker to walk to DHS than to take the launches. We starting walking just a one of the Friendship boats arrived a the Studio dock. We on the bridge at the Boardwalk & Swan before it we could see it going under the bridge for the road (Buena Vista Drive - I think). I guess we're going to get tons of exercise this trip! :cool1:

&, the final one for today:

6) This morning for DS's & my morning jog it was FREEZING. 41 degrees!! What's up with that FL? It was warmer in MA on Tuesday! Come on Mickey, please turn up the heat a little. :worship:

:thumbsup2

Don't worry it is absolutely freezing here in MA today:sad:

Just booked YC CL standard view, do these have daybeds? I was told by CRO that they did so I did not make request.

MeThatsWho, thanks for the report and continue enjoying your trip. Looks like slightly warmer weather is around the corner!

5) We have raced (and beat) the HS boats twice in July, and it was brutal in the heat, but I would be all over that in January!

We ALWAYS beat the boat. And we're walking with a tiny just-turned-6-year-old.

Thanks for posting the trip update. That's alright about going over to the dark side... the Yacht Club deserves some love too! I like to think of the Beach Club/Yacht Club as a married couple, like Lucy and Ricky Ricardo. The Beach Club is all Lucy, adventurous and loud, where as The Yacht Club is totally Ricky, stately and refined. The Yacht Club knows better but the Beach club likes to PARTY!

Not nitpicking or badgering here. We love it!

In MY opinion and as a BC fan I think the gazebo view at YC are some of the best in all of WDW. Not sure about convention times? Maybe someone else can answer that one.

Rumor has it that conventions of Cheerleading and Dance groups have booked every week for the rest of the year! ;) :lmao: Pack your pom poms and prepare for the invasion!

We ALWAYS beat the boat. And we're walking with a tiny just-turned-6-year-old.

I am one of those people on the boat that looks at the people racing on the shore and thinks "Boy do they look hot. They must have had too much coffee this morning". I'll be the one waving at you as my hair blows in the wind and I pretend I'm on my own private WDW yacht! :boat:

Just booked YC CL standard view, do these have daybeds? I was told by CRO that they did so I did not make request.

I'm not sure that they all have daybeds. CRO is notorious for giving incorrect info. I wish they would just say "I don't know" instead of making up answers!

My advice is to contact IPO or the CL CMs and ask them. If the answer is that they do not all have daybeds, I would add the request to your reservation. Remember, if you do not get a room with a daybed and none are available, you can request a rollaway cot, free of charge.

Quick question. We usually stay at BC, and one or two mornings during our stay we take a walk and get some munchies at the Boardwalk Bakery before heading to the parks. Since we are staying at the Yacht club, do we walk towards Swan & Dolphin to get there, or take the same route past BC to Boardwalk? I've been looking at the maps and I can't figure out which way would be quicker.

Just made BC reservations for May 26 - June 1.
Our second visit to the Beach Club, but first time with the kids at this resort.

The reason I asked about conventions is that the YC appears to be booking up fast for that first full week of August compared to the BC. At the YC there are no standard regular rooms and only standard CL rooms available. Okay, so the gazebo view it is - (if the family decides on YC - still wavering) - is one floor better than another? Told you all I'd be a pain in the tuchus!

Someone will know the answer to this- I don't.

But I wanted to add a question- who knows the dates of the Boardwalk Bakery refurb? I'm sure I could find it if I looked, but hoping someone knows without having to research.

Thank you. How do you reach the CL CMs ?

Here's an email address. This should only be used by guests who have a confirmed Club Level reservation

Yacht.Beach.Club.Itinerary.Planning@disneyworld.com;

Don't ask me why there is a space between the o and the m. I don't know and I can't fix it and it drives me crazy!!!. (I'm a teeny bit sensitive about this)

But the email address works.

I'm pretty sure that it is quicker to walk counterclockwise around Crescent Lake (toward Swan/Dolphin) then to walk clockwise, toward Beach Club from the YC to get to the bakery, although I don't think the difference in either direction is very significant. Either way, the walk is lovely.

Thanks! According to Allears it is set to open April 26th (and hoping it actually does open that date!!) I'm sure we will test it out when we go :rotfl2:

We are booked! August 20-30. What is this labor day special you are all talking about though? I booked rack hoping for a deal lol. Pease let me know if you have some secret deals! Are these dates on an American holiday? Will it be busY? Would I be better off a week earlier?

we are bringing my 15 year old sister with us this time. Her first time ever out of Canada, let alone to Disney world! Over the moon to have her come with us. She's very excited about the pool!

I booked a deal through Magical Travel Vacations. I got CL at the BC for just under $290 a night, including taxes. (no passes) This was cheaper than the standard room at rack rate. They had/have blocks of rooms at the YC/BC and the GF for the "Labor Day" deal. I just googled them to get the web site and emailed them for a quote.

I think you are booked the right times. If you go earlier in August it will be more crowded. :thumbsup2

Now that is....HILARIOUS! What an awesome, and strangely accurate, description Ninja Mom! :thumbsup2

OK, here's what I think I'm going to do.

I have a description of the 3 view categories in the FAQ Section on Page 1. I don't have any pictures, depicting the actual views you may have from your room, so I think I will put up a couple of samples- maybe an awesome view, a nice view and the worst view I can find for each of the categories.

I have been "collecting" some views for awhile, so I need to take a look to see what I have- I may be asking for your help if I need a particular view.

For now, if you have what you consider a "horrendous" view for the category, for example:

Standard- overlooking a dumpster or air conditioning unit

Garden View- trees or other foliage in desperate need of a pruning

Water View- peek-a-boo view of water

please email me at beachclubdee@yahoo.com

Recent pictures only, since the reclassification in view category: 1/1/2011

I love, love, love this idea!

Oh, if only I had thought to snap a picture of the dumpster view we had at the YC in 2010. Luckily we were only in that room for a mere 10 minutes. I think the CMs on club level saw the faint glisten of a tear in my eyes and had mercy on me and my husband. We were celebrating our 15th anniversary and our only request had been a "pleasant view". They very graciously upgraded us to a nicer view.

And, Dee, I've always wondered....you do such an AWESOME job on this thread. If you don't mind me asking....how did you get the role as caretaker of the YC / BC thread?? However it happened, they certainly picked the right person for the job!!! And, if that question is too personal, just ignore it and I'll never ask again. (But, I'll still continue to admire your quick wit, your responsiveness, and your accuracy...so there!)

Hello fellow New Englander! :wave2:

Looks like our dates overlap! Maybe we'll bump into each other in the lounge! :goodvibes

Here's hoping!! I'll be the one with the tall DH who will most likely be wearing a Yankees hat, and the two perfectly behaved children. :rotfl2: Ha, Ha, Ha!! In reality, it was just last night that I put my hands on my hips and said, "Now, how are we supposed to take the two of you to the club lounge when you can't stop fighting every night at the dinner table?!? You know, it's not too late to take both of you off the reservation." Aahh...not my finest mothering moment. (But, it did the trick :thumbsup2)

Ha! Well, my hubby will either be decked out in RED SOX gear or his famous Jack Skellington t-shirts...and my girls will be trying to stuff cookies in their pockets (politely, of course)...:lmao:

She drew the short straw. Taking care of this thread is part of her work release program from the PTA prison system. She served hard time in the bake sale unit, was moved to school trip chaperone... and after she didn't try to make a break on her one trip she was given the yellow jump suit and made a trustee of the thread.

She twitches a lot, especially after her fourth cuppa coffee, but prison officials don't believe she is going to get paroled any time soon, so I think we are safe!

That's my story and I'm sticking with it! ;)
