My DF and I got away this weekend and at the restaurant we had dinner at, I had bread pudding beignets for dessert with a raspberry compote of some sort.......:cloud9::cloud9::love:
Literally I have no words, they were THAT amazing and I got them all because of this thread so thank you reporters who have enjoyed the beignets in WDW, I am going for those in May!! ;)

I did something similar, well maybe more food obsessed! We made a trip to Mall of America in part because I wanted to eat at Pardon my French because I was craving the flat bread and pastry because of all the Le Chefs Reviews ....... And I make my husband stop at a gourmet cupcake bakery on his way home about twice a month because its hard not to crave them when looking at all the great ones on here! Oh we'll 7 more days and I will have a real Disney Cupcake or four!

They did change the Napoleon! I noticed that earlier. Maybe it's better than the others ones! It looks a little better.

Just received a text from Niki Andiokno with a correction to the website address which includes discounts coupons for restaurants such as Il Mulino, Kimonos, Bluezoo, and Shula's at the Swan & Dolphin Resort.

Here is the correct address: orlandoconventionaid.com

I just checked out the website and it has discount coupons for several Orlando area restaurants. The ones for the four restaurants listed above are all for a 20% discount and are good thru 4-30-13.

Thanks again Niki for the great tip! :thumbsup2

Hi everyone! Can I ask a random food related favor? If anyone is going to Les Halles soon - can you ask if the pastries are made in house? Also are any of the sweets peanut free?
In looking at the new menu - nothing jumps out at me that says "peanut!" So I am hoping that maybe like the BOG cupcakes some of the sweets are made in house and are therefore peanut free....
A big HUGE favor - I know- of course I am also trying to contact disney dining - but I thought I would ask here too!
Thanks everyone for reading! I truly appreciate it!

Ok, it's time now for the rest of last night's updates, starting with one from Lauren (Giselle22).

She and her family had dinner on Sunday night at Animal Kingdom Lodge's Signature restaurant...

JIKO

A2609525-4F0E-418D-9F5C-E8E66960C95B-7880-000008DB68F0966C.jpg

Victoria Falls Mist - Van-der-Hum Tangerine liqueur, melon liqueur, banana liqueur, citrus and Sprite.

Lauren said, "I got a Victoria Falls Mist while we were waiting for our table."

Jiko1-13.jpg

Taste of Africa - African inspired Dips with pappadam, poppy seed lavosh and House-made Naan

Jiko1-131.jpg

"We started out with the Taste of Africa. Everyone loved this, and in fact I thought it was the best part of the meal! Everyone's favorite bread was the Naan. A couple of the dips were a bit spicy, but I am a huge wimp when it comes to spicy foods and I was able to eat them all, and liked them all. They've all got great flavor."

Jiko1-132.jpg

Jiko Salad - bitter greens, frog hallow pears, spicy glazed walnuts, aged goat cheese and citrus vinaigrette

"My aunt and uncle each had a Jiko Salad. They liked it and my aunt said the pears were really good."

Jiko1-133.jpg

Oak-Grilled Filet Mignon served with ancient grain pilaf, heirloom pole beans, South African Red Wine Sauce

"For entrees my brother and I each had the filet. I ordered mine medium and it was cooked perfectly, but DBro asked for his medium-well and it was definitely well done. The filet was very good, but not the best steak I've ever had. I didn't care for the ancient grain pilaf; the flavor was fine, I just didn't really like the texture."

Jiko1-134.jpg

Seared Barbarie Duck Breast - Potato and Spinach Masala, Royal Trumpet Mushrooms, and Port Emulsion

"My aunt, uncle, and other brother all had the Seared Barbarie Duck Breast. The spice rub on this was very good!
DBro thought the potatoes were too salty, but the others didn't."

Jiko1-135.jpg

Lauren's Dad with his Guinea Hen entree
"Doro Wot" braised leg and Berbere roasted breast, sweet potato, wilted greens and ancho jus

"Dad had the guinea hen and really enjoyed it. He especially liked the little sweet potato curls it came with."

Jiko1-136.jpg

Spiced Autumn Squash Soup with fig crouton and chestnut butter

Jiko1-137.jpg

Za'atar-rubbed Lamb Flatbread with cranberry pear chutney and Point Reyes Blue Cheese

"Mom got the autumn squash soup and lamb flatbread. She said they were both very good. The soup is fairly sweet."

Jiko1-138.jpg

Jiko1-139.jpg

Jiko1-1310.jpg

"For dessert, Dad ordered a Cape Town Coffee (Van der Hum, Kahlua, and coffee with whipped cream)."

Jiko1-1311.jpg

Peppermint Crunch Creme Brulee
Mint Custard with Chocolate Ganache bottom

Jiko1-1313.jpg

Chocolate and Tea Safari
Vanilla Rooibos-Tanzanian Chocolate Cake, Free-Form "Kit Kat", and Green Tea Ice Cream

Jiko1-1312.jpg

Cinnamon-Chocolate Flourless Cake
Sesame Crisp, Chocolate Sauce, and Herb-Citrus Salad

"We all shared a peppermint crunch creme brulee, chocolate and tea safari, and cinnamon-chocolate flourless cake. The creme brulee had a nice consistency but we all agreed that peppermint is sort of an odd flavor for custard. The flourless cake had a very pronounced cinnamon flavor; I thought it was pretty good but Dad didn't like it at all. Everyone agreed that the Chocolate and Tea Safari was the best dessert. The green tea ice cream also has a hint of mint in it and it is wonderfully creamy yet refreshing. The cake has a rich chocolate bottom layer with a vanilla-rooibos tea mousse on top; delicious!!
We left a bit of the other desserts but finished every bite of this."

Next is an update from Niki Andiokno.

She and her DH had dinner last night at...

KIMONOS

Niki said, "We dined at Kimonos, another great place with a 20% discount for both DVC and orlandoconvention.com. We started with cocktails. DH was boring with a Pinot Noir. I had a small pitcher of Sake Sangria all to myself. For $13 this packs quite a punch."

10D7F25C-B0B3-49A0-8D01-1F17DC1EB016-8914-000009F19CD8C4BF-1.jpg

Beef Satay

"We started with this. The sauce was super spicy and super yummy. So tender and medium rare."

6802B514-FE97-4A1E-AE2B-9492CFA8133B-8914-000009F1A1D777AA-1.jpg

Spicy Tuna Roll and Banzai Roll (with avocado, spicy tuna, and eel)

"Next came the spicy tuna roll and Banzai roll. We also had yellowtail sashimi. This was really great sushi."

"We decided to be gluttons and asked for the menu again. The waitress asked "you still hungry" and giggled in the way only tiny Asian women can. I am used to it, as in Asia anything bigger than a size 8 shops at Fat Fannies plus size store. Anyway, here is a shrimp tempura roll and tuna roll. I was about riced out so I just ate the glorious tender tuna inside, as if it were sashimi. I was in heaven. :cloud9: We were finally done. Time to stumble home after my humongous Sake Sangria." :lmao:

"We also had a hard, bland pretzel earlier in the day from Anaheim Produce [at DHS] to watch Fantasmic. So bad that only half was eaten."

And our last update from yesterday was sent to us by Lauren (Giselle22).

This was from her dinner at Epcot's...

Restaurant Marakesh

"We had originally planned on going to DH's favorite restaurant, Raglan Road, for dinner to celebrate his birthday Monday night, but since he isn't here with us, we cancelled the reservation and decided to have a sit-down lunch in Epcot.
We chose Restaurant Marrakesh, which I always enjoy because I love couscous." :)

Marrakesh1-14.jpg

"Mom got some hot mint tea. They brew the tea in a pot, then pour it over some fresh mint leaves in a glass.
It's very good and very minty!"

"They start you out with some bread and butter, which is pretty basic. My brother had beef brewat rolls for an appetizer. These were okay, but the beef didn't have a ton of flavor."

Marrakesh1-140.jpg

Beef Brewat Rolls
Baked layers of thin pastry filled with seasoned minced beef, eggs, fried and sprinkled with cinnamon and powdered sugar

"Other brother had the beef kebab (pictured), and mom had the chicken kebab. They both liked them and DBro said the meat was very, very tender."

Marrakesh1-141.jpg

"My aunt ordered the seafood bastilla appetizer as her entree.
She said it was good, but thought it tasted more like meat than fish."

Marrakesh1-142.jpg

Seafood Bastilla
Baked layers of thin pastry filled with grouper, shrimp, mushrooms

Marrakesh1-143.jpg

Sultan's Sampler - grilled brochette of either beef or chicken served with a Beef Brewat Roll and Chicken Bastilla served with vegetable couscous

"Dad got the Sultan's Sampler. He wasn't very impressed with it; he liked the kebab, but not much else.
I think he just wasn't a fan of the pastry shells."

Marrakesh1-146.jpg

Harira Soup - traditional hearty soup flavored with tomatoes, lentils and lamb

"My aunt also had the Harira Soup. When I asked her what she thought of it she said it was "interesting."

Marrakesh1-147.jpg

"My uncle had the chicken bastilla appetizer for his entree, and he liked it."

Marrakesh1-148.jpg

Couscous M'Rouzia Fassi - braised beef served with prunes, balsamic vinegar, honey, sesame seeds and eggs

"My brother and I both ordered the Couscous M'Rouzia Fassi. It was excellent; in fact, DBro thought it was the best thing he had eaten thus far. The beef was very tender, could be cut with a fork, and the couscous was cooked perfectly. In addition to the prunes there were what we thought were small strips of onion; these were all stewed in honey. The prunes and maybe-onions were very sweet, but getting a bite with some beef, prune, and couscous was perfect."

Restaurant Marrakesh was a great meal, and of course everyone enjoyed
watching the belly dancer too." ;)

We made a trip to Mall of America in part because I wanted to eat at Pardon my French because I was craving the flat bread and pastry because of all the Le Chefs Reviews ....... Next up is an update from Niki Andiokno.

She and her DH had lunch today at Downtown Disney's...

Lobster and Shrimp Roll - Maine lobster, rock shrimp, celery, red onion, mayonnaise, on a toasted New England roll

Niki said, "DH had this. It was sorry and small. They only gave you half a hoagie bun and no top. There was about a quarter inch of meat and the meat tasted like antiseptic. :crazy2: Very sad. The chips that came with it were so bland and boring I didn't even take a photo."

EEB6F3CF-CDE3-4CDC-BC60-7B45D12612C1-9673-00000A38932B0D65.jpg

Fish Tacos with cajun spice, pico de gallo, queso fresco, and guacamole

"I have been dreaming of the fish tacos for 3 years. Last time I had a nice saltwater fish like grouper or mahi mahi. I don't recall which one. This was very thin bland whitefish. It tasted like it was straight from Lake Michigan, which I get at home. And they were so wet and dripping. The tortillas were soggy. I gave it to my husband. He said I gave it to him only because I hate him. That's how bad it really was. I don't really hate him." ;)

"The only good thing about this meal was my 20 percent DVC discount."

"I had the omelet. It was very good, well cooked and had plenty of ham and cheese. The potatoes were good too.
The biscuit, however was maybe a bit stale?"

Multigrain French Toast with raspberry compote and sausage

"DH and DSis both had the French toast. This was delicious and the toast with the compote tasted like a jelly donut when combined. Overall, we had a good breakfast!"

"The strawberry parfait had a nice cheesecake flavor but not overly rich."

Amanda said, "I don't know why this place gets such a bad reputation.
It was the same quality as all the other QS places we ate." :confused3

Next we have an update from Niki Andiokno from their dinner last night at...

Niki said, "I had the Turkey Brie sandwich. I didn't put the cranberry mayo on it since I am not a cranberry fan.
Good sandwich. You could really taste the Brie."

"Overall, ESPN was a solid choice we would go back to for DH. Oh, and btw, we got a 20% DVC discount."
