Mousekeeping Issues

YUCK....you are correct, the covers are not washed every time a new guest checks into the room. I push them down to the bottom of the bed, so they don't touch me. As we just got back from Disney and we drove 3 days to get there, we stayed a few hotels along the way. We don't use the glasses either except when they come sealed individually. Yes, one hotel HIE I think it was had plastic glasses that were sealed one to a pkg...I used those for sure. Getting back to the mouse keeping issues, I'm afraid our trip last year and this year we had some issues. Last year it was a very dusty room and we are talking killer dust bunnies. This year, the shower did not get wiped down the whole 14 days we were there but the biggest issue was the condensation on the windows. Which ran down to the window sill, then down the wall onto the carpet. The carpet was soaked and you could see black mold around the edges where the wall met the carpet.

No it's not. That's a myth.

Not a myth. Urine is sterile if taken directly from the bladder. Unfortunately, the stuff on the OP's bedspread had to pass through the body before it got there, making it definitely not sterile and generally really gross. :)

When we arrive in any hotel, the beadspreads come off the beds and are never touched again. I don't care if they are covered in a thin sheet; they are still disgusting. We also travel with our own blankets so something clean is up by our faces!

Yes comforters/blankets are generally NOT washed between guests. I worked as a house keeper (not at Disney) for 3 years and generally comforters were only washed twice per year or if there was an obvious spot on it. This is why whenever we stay at a hotel I being our blankets from home.

They should do away with the covers. When we stayed at the Beach Club we had the duvets with the sheets over them. I liked that a lot better than the nasty covers at POP. Liked POP but did not like the covers. Same at POFQ.

My family thinks I'm nuts but I take my own sheets & blankets & yes, pillows & cases too. :lmao:

First thing I do when I enter the hotel room is check the beds for bed bugs. If it's ok (and luckily it always has been) I take off the bedspread/comforter and leave it on a chair then put on my sheets & blankets.

OP, I'm curious as to what happened. Did the housekeeping manager come to speak to you? How long did it take for you to receive a new bedspread? I'm sorry this happened to you, it's so gross!

For those who have commented that you don't think housekeeping at WDW has gone down because all your rooms have been ok, count yourselves lucky you have been blessed with clean rooms. Some of us haven't been so lucky. Even multiple times at different resorts. I don't personally think it's totaly gone down but, I do think (from experience) dirty rooms are occuring more often.

From what I was told by a housekeeping manager at WDW going forward, when a textile refurb is done, they will not be using the duvet with sheets over them. It's become too combersome to clean & change out. They will be doing the triple sheets with blanket in between.

Finding bodily fluid like that on any bedding is really gross. If they are not going to change the covers they should at least be checking to make sure that there are not stains like that and if there are removing the cover and replacing it with a new one should be the procedure!

Just stayed at CSR. Had the sheets with the blanket in them. It was cold over Christmas and we froze one night. Called Housekeeping and they brought us the duvets for the beds. Made all the difference.:goodvibes:goodvibes

Funny you mention this cause when the housekeeping manager told me about this I said to her, those aren't warm enough! This is another reason why I'm glad I bring my own blankets! Some nights got down to 30 when we were there!

Had the extra blankets too! Free Dining wasn't enough to keep me warm! :rotfl::rotfl:

I watch too much TV.

The one thing I remember from the Hotel Impossible show is, never use bedding that isn't white in color. They rarely get washed, and when they do, they do not get BLEACHED.

I kick the bed cover to the floor first thing in a hotel.

in all honesty...the only thing we do is lysol the door knobs...remote, you know, the things you touch. Other than that....I dont even worry about the sheets. Go and have fun, dont get ocd over things that are irrelevant. And, sometimes i even forget the whole lysol thing. But, i enjoy vacations..i sleep very well in a bed that may or may not be "clean"
When you spwnd 1-2 years in afganistan..you realize there is nothing really dirty in America...We, and the rest of the civilized world are pretty darn clean.

Amen to that. We live in Naples, Italy right now (Navy assignment) and it has made me realize that we in the States are spoiled. I regularly have to drive on streets piled high with garbage, they burn their trash and the air smells so bad of burning plastic that I have to leave my windows shut, and is just an overall very dirty place. People leave their cars unlocked not because it's safe but in hopes that the people breaking into them won't break their windows. There is a 30% unemployment rate here and people are desperate. Urine on a sheet would not make me happy and I would have it addressed but we as a society in general need to relax. There are many people in this world much worse off than we are. It is just hard to imagine if you have never seen it. I think that is the problem.

I will say that the new 'sheet-blankets' we had at All Star Sports last week.. I was like "I don't know this is enough to keep me warm.

BUT.. thru a combination of adjusting the room temperature on the new thermostat and that sheet-blanket .. I was quite comfy in the room.

Your mileage may vary.

In 2007 we were staying at ASMo, and my youngest DS (just 1 at the time) was having a hard time from the plane ride. He was walking in front of the TV and just vomited on the floor. It wasn't a little spit up...it was full fledged hangover vomit. I called Mousekeeping and they said someone would be up shortly. No one came. I ended up cleaning it as best I could with what we had in the room (towels, hand soap...). I cleaned up the...uh...solid part, then blotted it with water and soap and blotted that up. I put a towel on top of it to help suck up anymore water. Then ext day we went to the parks, came back for an afternoon nap and the towel was gone, but it was obvious that the stain was not touched.

We transferred to ASMu to a suite after that.

I always check the beds and all around the room before we unpack. That way if there is an issue, we can (hopefully) have it resolved before we get comfortable. As PPs have mentioned, I wipe everything down with clorox wipes. I also bring my own dish soap and rag from home to wash the glasses.:thumbsup2

It most certainly...is. Im in that line of business. It is 100% sterile and disease free. Cant hurt anyone or anything.....even though it is kinda pungent...:)

It is until it reaches the urethra. If it's drawn directly from the bladder it's sterile, if it passes naturally it is no longer sterile.
