Disney's ALL-STAR SPORTS RESORT Information & Questions

Hi everyone! I'm reporting live from All Star Sports. We checked in on 12/23 and will be here until 12/30.

Great news!! We are staying in Surf's Up building #6. The room has a privacy curtain!!!

Here are some pictures:

Wow!! How bright and cheery the room is. It has been awhile since I stayed at the resort.

It looks like they added a cushion to the chairs, new carpet and the privacy curtain. Everything else looks the same as the last time I stayed there. I guess it was a mini-rehab.

Thanks for sharing the info and pics it looks great. Now I wonder if all the rooms have the privacy curtain? I always brought my own. I love that they got rid of those gross comforters too so I don't have to fold it up and put it in the corner and hope they don't put it back on the bed anymore.

Thanks for the update and pictures. We are in a standard room so I hope the other buildings have the privacy curtains too.

LOL about the comforers. I do the same thing.

I hope they don't have the chips in the cups when we go. I don't think my dad could handle that. :)

The chips in the cups and the machines that read them are long gone so your dad's experience with refills should be frustration free.

I'm here now.. the RFID locks are continuing to be installed, yesterday they were working on the first floor of building 6 - Surf's Up. I'm in 614X so I expect they'll be around here in the next day or so.

I noted that Tennis seems to be pretty much complete. And while I haven't yet checked Basketball, Football or Baseball, I can get that done this morning.

:D

thanks for the new updated info!

i had posted earlier in the thread where i read on another site the goal was Jan 17 or so for completion.

sounds like it will be done soon.

i'm glad you confirmed this CanadianGuy.

We're back from our stay at ASSp. Room 9228.

Was not one of rehabbed rooms with the little coverlets and the privacy curtain though.

Some observations we thought might be helpful...

We noticed in the food court, only one station was open during the early morning hours. Lead to very long lines with sports groups at the resort.

Our room (building 9) was actually closer to the Music bus stop and food court. We walked there through the building 9 parking lot. Also, all of their food court stations were open in the early morning.

We also took the Music bus back home from the parks.

Bus service was excellent. Much better than our August trip at Boardwalk.

Does anyone which rooms / buildings haven been updated with the privacy curtains? From some recent posts it appears that building 6 (Surf's Up) had the privacy curtains but Building 9 (Homerun Hotel) didn't.

We will be staying at Sports at the end of the month and the privacy curtain would be GREAT for our family since we have some early risers that get up to shower and get ready while the other sleep. We have two rooms and I'm not sure the cost to upgrade to Surfs Up would be worth it.

TIA.

I am wondering the same thing about the privacy curtain.. I like to get up before the rest of the family and the curtain would be a big help. If anyone knows which parts of the resort have them- I would greatly appreciate the info. (We check in on 2/9/13)

Digging this up from the grave:lmao::lmao: So I am not going crazy fellow AS Sports fans. I changed my dates once again. I had knee surgery a couple of weeks ago and the end of February is too soon to visit the world. So I am going the first week of May. Good time to go though as I believe it is Flower and Garden Festival at EPCOT.

Flower and Garden will be beautiful! Good luck on your recovery! You will enjoy it so much more by waiting I think.

I check in 2 weeks from tomorrow! I am so excited to see the look on my son's face when we get there. I requested the Homerun section because he lives for baseball. Fingers are crossed!

Got 122 days till we arrive at ASSp! :cool1: driving 27 hrs to get there! with 4 kids!! :scared1: i feel like i have so much to do before then!

just saw this posted on another site:

Surfboard Bay Pool (All-Star Resort – Sports) closed 2/25/13-3/6/13 for refurbishment. Pargo service to Grand Slam Pool will be available.

I've read all 170 pages but I didn't really see any information on this. Is there a pool bar? For anyone that has stayed at pop can you compare the 70's section to the baseball section at sports distance wise to the main building? Just one more :) How easy is it to get a king bed? Thanks for the help.

Yes there is a pool bar. We have stayed in the baseball section of Sports and the 70s section (just across from the Mickey phone) at Pop. Our walk at the baseball section was shorter. Sports overall is much smaller than Pop. We like both resorts but Sports is our favorite of the two.
