I'm so excited! I finished my 5K Pocahontas costume last night and will test run it today. 36 and sunny in Chicago with a high of 44. :cool1:

Before the holidays and through them life got a little crazy and I missed more training runs than I should have. With the start of the new year I decided to get myself back on track. I went for a run on the 1st that was supposed to be 6 miles and barely finished three before I threw in the towel. I have been feeling majorly discourage since and if I’m honest downright terrified of the race.

This morning I am happy to report that I am in a much better place. I’m so glad that I was able to read everyone’s posts about not letting one bad run get you down. Last night during my short run I was able to run for a whole mile and a quarter before taking a very short walk break (granted it was on a treadmill), normal I run one minute walk one minute. Not going to lie, im feeling a little proud of myself. Thanks for all the support everyone! I hope your training is going well and everyone is getting excited, I know I am!

Anxiously waiting to see!!!

We fly in Friday 2/22 early (arrive at 9:30 am I think) and are staying until the following Saturday, 3/2.

Yay you are staying a whole week! I wish..

Last year I had the 6 AM flight out of Midway on the Friday and that Thursday we got snow, so SW canceled my flights. All flight the rest of the weekend were full. I had to fly to Texas then to Orlando. I got to Orlando about 5:30 PM on Friday. I said NEVER AGAIN. That is why I am flying Thursday if we get snow I have at least an extra day to get there.

I did hear that some princess's from Chicago had to drive to Orlando because they could not get a flight.

Way to go!! :) Yay for getting back on track with a great run! I'm a 1:1 run-walker too and I found that switching it up lately to include longer/shorter intervals helped me over my winter slump.

I fly in Thursday home Monday

My DBF (whose coming for emotional support) and I fly out Friday after work. We don't arrive til 1am on Saturday!! I wanted to come earlier, but he was nervous about work schedules. Oh well!

We'll then stay until Tuesday afternoon, so we can get in at least one park day on Monday.

My BF and I have to do those late, after work flights alot too because we work together in the same small department and have to be careful about the number of days we're off together...it stinks rolling up at the resort at 1am, doesn't it? Plus...I always hate the thought of arriving at 1am and still having to pay the full amount of that day (or really the day before!) for the room...seems like such a waste! This time we're doing it a little different though...I'm gonna go ahead and fly out first thing Friday AM so I can get the expo/packet pick up over with and he's gonna do the late, after work flight that evening. Then we'll fly home together Wednesday evening. We're doing the same thing next week for the Tink half too!

OMG...thanks Princessontherun for teaching us how to use multiple quotes. This is much easier!

Good for you. Remember Dead Last Finish is better than Did Not Finish which is better than Did Not Start. You started this and you're going to finish it with us.

When is everyone arriving?

I fly in Thursday home Monday

In Friday, home Monday. If all goes well with weather and flights, I have an 11AM ressie for my family at Whispering Canyon at the Wilderness Lodge for a deliciously carbo-loading breakfast if anyone would like to join. It would freak my DH out a bit, but hey. It would be fun to see folks.

OK. I'm dumb. How do I upload photos? When I hit the picture icon with the little mountain, it asks me for the url of my image. I just have the pics in iphoto.

We get in Friday evening, need DH to work Friday and get the kids home from school then leave. I am flying home Wednesday. DH has to fly to St. Louis on Monday, but will fly back to Orlando Monday night. We will do parks again Tuesday, then he flies to San Francisco, and I fly home.

Good job getting back out there!! :thumbsup2 I have also been slow to train since the TOT and having some foot issues. I got on the treadmill yesterday and watched Biggest Loser while I ran. I felt sick all night, but feel much better today and am glad I did it.

Yes, waiting for pictures and a report of how it went!

Thursday afternoon through Tuesday night. I will hopefully be changing my flight in to mid day if they drop the price. My running buddy has to leave Monday 7:00am for a conference, so she if arriving at noon on Thursday now.

That would be very stressful to have a flight cancelled! Sending Pixie dust that nothing happens this year!

Has anyone made their own running skirt out the sparkle material? It looks like it would be a simple circle skirt pattern. I have some remanent fabric, I might give it a shot. I bought toule to make a tutu, but am not sure I really want that. Sigh, too many things to consider.:worried:

Funny you say that, I'm in Schaumburg for a last minute business trip and the weather while cold is beautiful. Flying back to PA tomorrow and then off to FL on Friday morning.

I just got a sparkel skirt for the 5K. for me I would spend more money trying to make it then just buying it.

My group and I are going to be Tink and Friends for the 5K. I am Iridessa.
I have a gold sparkel skirt. Any ideas on what to wear on top?

We are having great weather right now. Much warmer than it should be.

You aren't dumb! :) I had a hard time figuring it out too...when I finally asked for help, someone pointed me to a DIS link that had a step by step instruction. Sorry, I have no clue where it is! But basically, what you have to do is upload your photo to an image hosting website...the instructions I used at the time suggested Photo Bucket so that's what I use now. Once you do that, each photo you upload there will show several different codes (links) for that pic that you can click on to copy...for this website, chose the IMG code, copy it and then paste it in the box on this website that asks for the URL. Beware though, I normally have to go in Photo Bucket and edit the pic to resize it, otherwise the pic that posts here is ginormous. If you try it, just preview the post before you submit the post and you'll be able to see if it worked or not. Maybe someone else here knows where that thread is that explains how to post photos? Or maybe there's an easier way that I'm not aware of?

Great job getting back to training. I've been a big ol' slacker. I finished my first half marathon back in Sept. Did a few training runs and then did a 6+ race on Halloween and then did nothing until a Thanksgiving Day 5k. Since then I've been more off than on and no long runs. This past weekend I did 6, and this weekend I'm shooting for 7. I figure if I can get up 9.5-10 miles in training, I'll be good. I doing this race with a friend who's walking so my goal is to finish with her and have a good time on the course.

I'm arriving on Thursday and flying back home on Wednesday. I was afraid of a snowstorm messing up my flights, so I figured I'd give myself the extra day too.

I made one for a race this past July. And I can't sew much more than a straight line. I looked online and found a video that was helpful. I think I searched for 'how to make a running skirt'. Actually, I just did the search again. It's a YouTube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e_uF_O6QkI0

She says you can make it in 15 minutes but because I don't sew well, it took me a lot more than that.

Has anyone been following the Marathon Weekend thread? Looks like they're in for a little bit of warmer weather for their races this weekend. Hope we have cooler weather!

Wooooohooooo!!

Did 8 miles this mornings with almost no pain. Finished in 1 hour 35 minutes. I had to do some walking but I'm fine with that. I've had several injures in the past few months and I wasn't sure if I was even going to get to do the PHM. But thanks to Physical Therapy and lots of PT Tape, I'm back baby!!

This post made me smile all over! :goodvibes Congratulations on feeling the groove again! :thumbsup2

When is everyone arriving?
I'll get to WDW sometime the Thurs. before and leave sometime the Tues. after. (Driving from Tampa Bay area, so no firm times - I'll just check Google traffic before hitting I-4 and go from there!)

Has anyone made their own running skirt out the sparkle material?
My DIS friend and Tink & Princess runner Disneyland_Mama made one based on the Team Sparkle-style - it looks great!

I'm LIVING in Marathon Weekend weather down here in FL! And I can't lie... I'm looooooving it  This Floridian Princess just isn't able to handle the chilly mornings. But based on my 20 years in Fl, I'd say temps in the 40s or 50s at race start are far more likely than what we've got going now. Even if it is like this week, trust me - it's not hitting 80 until later in the day; mornings are still comfortable and it's really the afternoon sun that makes it feel warm, so early morning won't be bad.
