January 2013 car rental

I just got an amazing rate from Payless Car Rental. It's almost too good. Does anyone have any experiences with Payless, good or bad? Is there a reason I shouldn't stick with this reservation and consider myself lucky?
Thanks!

We used them in November, they are offsite. They really hard sell extra insurance and make you buy extra insurance or put a hold on your visa for $300.

I would use them again.

Looking for a mini van for 1/26 thru 2/2, the best price I found so far is $302 from enterprise.

Is that a good price or should I hold out?

Finally got our rate down, $145.00, full size @ Alamo for a week. Costco member. When I went direct thru Alamo same car was almost 100.00 more. This has not happened to me before. I must say I really, really do not like the "new Alamo" site.

Rates dropped to $128 direct thru Alamo. Like the price, still not happy with site. Check your rates:thumbsup2

I finally got a minivan on Priceline for those dates for $210 from Budget.

Our dates are the same, scored a full size through Budget for $102.00. We usually stay with Alamo or National, have used Budget once before and no issues. Another member of our party has a minivan rental 1/29-2/2 thru Alamo. Their price is 161.

Check Alamo again for a 10 day rental Jan 29 to Feb 4 (Costco and free day discount) out of Sanford, and we're at $300 now!:yay: Still hoping to do better and will keep checking.

Just got an intermediate with Budget for $91.38, all in, through Costco...under $100 all in was my goal, and I didn't think I'd get it this year, but yay!!!

Dates: 1/21 - 1/28

I believe with Costco, spouse can drive for no additional charge, right? I will obviously double check at the airport.

My original Budget reservation:

Pick up and drop off at the Budget in Kisimmee, compact car, January 26-Feb. 1. $144

My new Budget reservation:

Pick up and drop off at MCO, intermediate car, January 26-February 2, $107

Codes were (Costco) W852871/MUGZ034

So basically we got an extra day for almost $40 less. :cool1:

Do I remember correctly that there is no Standard aisle at Alamo in the MCO Airport? So by booking a Standard we will receive at least a Fullsize?

Alamo
Jan 26 to Feb 4 [9 Nights]
$159.26
Standard

Using Insider's ID and Visa Code AD2338FDF

Yes, that is correct.

Anyone else having a problem when trying to use the visa $30 coupon at Alamo this morning? It says the coupon isn't available at this time.

I just got that message too. I have seen it occasionally in the past and it seems like someone on the disboards said they only offer it to so many rentals on each date. But I have no idea if that's true.

Had the same issue last night when I tried. Even went through the Visa site, but got the same message.

Glad to see I'm not the only one! I hope there won't be a problem using it when I pick up my existing reservation. (That may just be my paranoid personality talking, though!)

I had the same problem, so I've just phoned Alamo. The person there confirmed that that coupon has now been used by the maximum number of customers, so it no longer works for new reservations.

He did confirm that it would be honoured on existing reservations. I was relieved to hear this, since I got an error message on the Alamo site when I tried to bring up a reservation I'd made several weeks back using this coupon.

Still, the price I have is double what Alamo gave us last year for the same week. Has anyone found any better new offers?

Priceline is tempting...page shows only Budget, Hertz, National, Avis and Alamo (all on site). Are these the only companies that I could end up with (MCO)?

Is there any disadvantage to low-balling, and then up the bid until it is accepted? Other than data entry time lost?

I tried to check in online and it would not let me. (something about the coupon) So I called and they said that I would have to check in at the counter and show the coupon ($30.00 off that is listed on this thread) I do not have an actual coupon, I was just going to pay with my visa. Is anyone else having this problem???
