"PART CLVII !! *December 2012 Roll Call* Holidays, FLE & MVMCP!! A very, merry thread!"

Wow... It's a good thing that President Ashley Olsen and Prime Minister Bieber were able to fend off the combine might of the Mayans and Martians. Those Mayans... Just couldn't let it go that no one truly bought in that they thought the world was going to end back in '12. So they decide to team up with the Martians to try to make it happen 20 years later. Geez, talk about holding a grudge. They almost screwed up my vacation plans. But me and BDLsgal got to make it to the opening of the final phase of the FantasyLand expansion.

In another stroke of good news, The NHL and the NHLPA are now only 1 sticking point away from a resolu... Huh? They didn't? Damn! Never mind. Oh well... At least I get to see Mark Sanchez lead the Jags past his heated rival Teabow and the Lions, in the Super Bowl. It is a shame though that Favre came out of retirement and just missed the playoffs."

I know this thread is winding down, but wanted to post some exciting news here because I've been chatting with y'all for so long you feel like friends.

I've been job hunting in California for about a year now, and this morning I got a call from one of the counties I interviewed with right after my DisneyWorld trip. They needed another reference, since one was out of the office until Monday, and wanted to get the paperwork in to make an offer before then!

So it looks like we'll be living 3K miles closer to Disney World by the time our next trip rolls around! Such a relief! :woohoo:

Just wanted to say thanks for all the moral support ... this group was one of the few things that kept me sane and cheerful while going through this job hunt the last year. There truly is something magical about Disney friends ...

Yay!! Congrats on the new job!! :goodvibes

I totally agree about the group. :thumbsup2

Okay besides that being really funny ... does anybody else find it disturbing that one of the Olsen twins is dating the French president's brother? I think its Oliver Sarkozky?

OMGosh! I'm so far behind on this thread! It'll take me forever to catch up. I admit I'm still a little out of sorts since vacation. We returned home on Dec 17th and I think I've yet to cook a big meal ;) It took me a long time to get my photos edited and I just finished editing my photopass photos (and ordered my cd)! I'm still planning to do a trip report but gosh, I'm just now realizing the work that is involved with those. I'm waiting to get the energy. Another thing postponing my efforts is planning another trip! We won't be going to WDW but Disneyland instead! I'm excited for a new park (been to WDW about 8 times but never to the west coast park).

Okay, I'm off to read!

Hi Kathy! :wave2:

We've been to DL once - you'll have a blast. I really liked that we could walk back and forth between the 2 parks

funny - I just looked at mine and it says 11 months 4 week. Hope that's true. Been here 2 days with 7 left. So nice to be back at Disney. Everything is great so far. Off now to HS. Moving to BLt tomorrow. Rooms here at POR are great - we are in bldg. 14 - really close to main bldg. Great pixie dust since we were upgraded to a preferred room. Haven't seen any fellow disers yet but I am wearing my LGMH

I swear I never saw ONE LMGH! Not ONE! I wore mine on my lanyard the entire time but to tell you the truth I spent most of my walking time concentrating on trying to walk without pain. I had huge blister issues!

I *think* that we may have seen Sean and his bride though? I should have just asked if it was them sitting next to us at Via Napoli. But if it wasn't them then I figured I'd look like a huge idiot so I kept my mouth shut! ::yes::

You've been missed!! How was your trip and everything in between??

Yay on DL!!!

Fabulous trip. Really......almost too perfect. It will be difficult to top (but gosh it'll be fun to try)!

I learned a huge lesson though......never wear shoes at WDW without socks. :rolleyes2 My feet are still recovering! Happy to have tackled all of the character breakfasts we did (was really thinking it was too much for two ADULTS, and I use that term loosely).

Our trip consisted of:
Islands of Adventure and Harry Potter, Universal Studios (saw the Macy's parade and Manheim Steamroller there)
Osbourne Lights AND Fantasmic on our first night at WDW (and we were there when they turned on the lights for Osbourne Lights)
Loved the Counter Service at BOG, probably better than the Table Service (yes, we did both).
Candlelight Processional was fabulous.
Would have enjoyed our Illuminations cruise TONS better if it weren't raining that night....we docked under the bridge so we wouldn't get rained on but that limited our view considerably. We had great company on that cruise, tho!
Really enjoyed the new FP+. Mine worked every time but hubby's only worked about 50% of the time.
Dessert Party was wonderful. Our table was in the very front row.
MVMCP was loads of fun. It rained a bit but we were one of the first in line for the 7 Dwarfs and we were out of there by 7:15. Also got pics with the Tremaine's with Cinderella/Prince!
Really enjoyed Nemo show at AK and B&B show at DHS....so good!
LaNouba was very entertaining!
Very fun sleigh ride around the Ft Wilderness campgrounds to see the all the sites decorated and lit up for christmas!
Loved all the Holiday stories at every country.
Drinks around the World (but not all of them), Grey Goose slushie (YUM), avocado margarita (YUM), Tipsy Ducks in Love (at Japan, a yummy loaded coffee drink), beer in Germany and at our lunch at Rose & Crown.
Wonderful signature meals at California Grill and Narcoossee.

I won't even talk about the low-light of a lunch ADR at Le Cellier where we waited almost an hour past our ADR time :(

Must be busy at Hollywood studios today..or is this normal?? " Pulled TSM FP @ 9:27, return time 2:10-3:10"

Makes me sooo nervous..lol.

I'm a little late with this response but our DHS day was 12/15 and at 9:15 am we pulled a 3:25 fast pass! The line was too long to wait at 9:15 so we took the fast pass. We had a FP+ for 10:20 so we knew we'd get at least those two rides in. When we arrived for that 10:20 FP+ guess what the new Fast passes were for? 7:20pm! I must say, I adored that ride but they really need to do something about getting people through that line!

Oooh, the dessert party is on my list of splurges for next trip in November, if I allow myself any (probably not since we'll be buying appliances and furniture this year).
So sorry your IllumiNations cruise got rained on. :guilty:
I'm super excited about FP+ and hope it works out that I get to try it on my next trip. Glad to see some positive reviews of it, it seems to be pretty mixed responses here on the board. Generally, it seems those that like ADR's and intense planning like it, and those that don't, don't.
Another thing postponing my efforts is planning another trip! We won't be going to WDW but Disneyland instead! I'm excited for a new park (been to WDW about 8 times but never to the west coast park).
You're going to love my home park! :cheer2: Its seriously much more laid back than WDW, and so compact you'll get twice as many rides done in the same time, just the walk in between is so much shorter, though the lines are less detailed. I love both, but they are different experiences.
Did you already read Hydroguy's DLR for WDW Vets thread?
You must eat at Blue Bayou. And get a corn dog from the Little Red Wagon. The corn dogs are so much better there. One of the few things we were disappointed with in WDW, we went hunting for a Disney corn dog, and they forgot to put the crack in it ...

Plan for a long line at Be Our Guest or eat an early lunch. We were planning on a late lunch there and at 2 the line was crazy & with a two year old we couldn't justify it. I hope it's much better for you!

On the day we wanted BOG counter service I went up to the check in for the sit down restaurant because I noticed someone inside. I just wanted to ask her if that was where we checked in for the table service (we were doing that the next day). While I was there I asked about the counter service too. She pointed to her left, which is where the line for the cs starts. It was 10 am and we made the decision to go ahead and get in line as they start serving lunch at 10:30. Boy am I glad we did that! It was warmish that day and we were probably the 15th and 16th person in line.....our kiosk wasn't working properly once we got inside when we tried ordering but a CM came and rebooted it......I must say that was the best counter service ever. The slow cooked pork was delicious and the atmosphere......when I think that is one counter service credit it's hard to compare it to a counter service at Casey's or anywhere else in MK, for that matter.

I fell in love with the GF the minute my mom and I walked in for our afternoon tea. The CM's at the Gardenview Tea Room were so friendly. I would love to stay there, but DS said he didn't like it.

We didn't feel under-dressed at all there. The only time I did was in the YC. As much as I love the outside, the inside made me feel like I was in a very :snooty: high class hotel. When I went to my spa appointment, I saw more guests dressed in suits than in plain clothes. I don't know if there was a business conference there or not, but it made me feel like I just didn't belong.

I'm going to agree with you on the YC. We had dinner ADRs at Yachtsman for 7:40......we had come from AK and were in pants and short sleeve shirts (from AK). I really felt that people were snobby while waiting for tables. We were both tired and actually still full from our Yak and Yeti lunch (1pm ADRs). Yachtsman was running behind schedule so we were over the moon excited when we heard some others talking about canceling their ADRs because of the delays. We canceled ours too after we learned that we would not be penalized. I was never so happy to leave a resort and we saved 4 table service credits by doing so.....we ended up eating at Boatwright's at our resort......and our dinner was delicious!

I would be okay with either another trip to Florida to use our APs or a DLR trip next winter to start APs, even if it was a short one, but we're probably not doing a DCL trip so I'm not sure I can not plan a Disney trip at all in 2013 ... also wondering if I should just plan a few "girls weekend" sort of trips for me and my companion from this last trip and our other sister-in-law so it won't be as expensive (w/o the kids, etc) and the DH's can't complain ...

Okay, so is there an AP out there that allows entry to both DL and WDW? Hm......can you hear me thinking here?

There is a bi-coastal Disney Parks Annual Pass called a Premier Pass, I believe. It can only be bought at the parks and I think its around $850 per person (It may have gone up with the last price change). You'd have to go to both parks at least 2x to make it worthwhile ... I think a lot of SoCal people who regularly keep a DLR pass get it every once in awhile when they add 2 WDW trips in 11 months.

Since a regular WDW AP is around $575, Premium is $699, and the DLR Deluxe pass is around $460 (Premium no-blackout pass is $650), its worth it if you're doing a few trips.

Now that we'll be flying from California this fall, we're just going to use our DVC PAPs that we picked up last trip for our Disney trip this year, which we'll let expire Dec 5, 2013 rather than renew.

Then in Fall of 2014 I'll get a DLR AP (probably Deluxe) that will be good until Fall of 2015 (which I already know will be an October trip since that's DH's and my 5th anniversary:cool1:). If I need to go to DLR before then (which I probably will), I have a friend who is an AP holder who is also military so I'll be doing a weekend here or there with her with a $125 military discount ticket.

Just out of curiosity how many days do you suggest for DLR - we plan on going out that way in 2 years or so to see my brother in law and his family. We thought a short trip there would be fun, especially if we can get them to go.
