Is $766 Worth it to Stay at a Value?

With the new code Hubby and I can stay at ASMU for approx. $800 less (incl. QSDP/pref. room at both) than POR. Is it worth it? I stayed at ASMU about 10 years ago and haven't been back since..have they upgraded it at all? We have stayed at Moderates ever since so I have no comparison at this point.

Is there another Value that might be nicer than ASMU?

$800 is a lot of cash today but I just don't know if it's worth it...Please any and all opinions! Thanks :flower3:

I like the values. I think that all of the All Stars are about the same nice wise, but you'll probably get varying opinions on that.

I think it depends what is more important to you - would you rather have a bit more spending cash with fewer amenities (sit down restaraurant, boat to DTD), or would you prefer more amenities.

We're almost never in our room, so values are great for us. My kids love the themeing, but now that we are a family of 5 we're heading to POR. If I head back with just 4 or less at any point, I'll go right back to the value.

It's just your preference. If you're in the room/at the resort more, I'd go with the mod. If you're not going to be there at all, I'd go with the value.

We love POP. The resort is fun and bright. Totally worth it to us. That extra money saved could buy a lot of groceries or better yet, put it towards another Disney trip down the road. Good luck and have a great trip! :thumbsup2

I personally don't see the point of paying more for a Mod (though I see the difference in a deluxe). The travel time doesn't seem to be any better for a Value vs Mod and I don't feel like I'm $800 more comfortable at a Mod.

However, depending on time of year Values can get loud and crowded so if you really want down time outside of your room when you get back to the hotel, maybe a Mod is better. I just want to be in my room on a bed watching TV before I fall asleep though.

I'll go out on a limb here ... We once rode out a hurricane after it shut down Amtrak to get home after 9 nights at the Poly at a value resort...

It was Pop Century, not knowing how long the service from Amtrak would be... Lets say we were deluxe vacationers for 40+ trips and our first encounter with a value....

Big big difference if you are used to anything better... Never again and certainly not for a whole vacation... Mood and attitude was not to our liking, same for amenities...especially the mob stampede for the buses, no organization or compassion for others... Just a total bad experience all together. Cured us of staying value no matter how much resort time we chose to spend ..

When we travel 1100 miles for periods of 9-12 nights, we gladly pay for better amenities, atmosphere and adult decor... It's our vacation and we're entitled to spend alittle more to feel pampered. We do spend considerable amount of time at the resort and wan the experience pleasant with over the top adult theming. We like being under one roof, inside hallways and different means of getting around.... Be it as it may, it's your choice and pocketbook, but we'll always book deluxe....

For our family, no it's not. During a 10 day trip, we like to have 2 resort days. We feel we get more value by staying moderate after 4 value trips.

I'll admit it- I'm frugal. DH just calls me cheap. :confused3 But I would still spend the extra money for the mod. We've stayed at a value before and really, really, didn't enjoy the experience. We like to spend a bit of time at the resort, outside the room. The mods make this an enjoyable thing to do. The values- not so much. And I really don't like how cramped the value rooms feel.

Pretty sure ASMU has full size beds and POR has queens. Does that matter to you? How many nights are you staying?

Liked POP for the price few times I have stayed there, but I didn't have a mini fridge (refused to pay extra for it but that may be already incuded now), no in-room coffee maker, standing in the sun for the buses was really hot on one of the trips and then, no one shared a bed so the size was fine.

I also stopped paying extra for views at the moderates and values. I have paid extra for a king at CSR and enjoyed that very much. Unfortunately, the preferred room locations I have received have never wowed me. I admit I basically accept whatever room I am assigned. I've asked if that's the best available and usually am told yes. I'm just so happy to be there I let it go.

How often do you go? I go enough that room location is hit or miss for me.

Good luck on your decision!

Think aaarcher86 said it best. If you are going to spend hotel/resort time stay in the mods. If it's mostly park time save the money and stay value. There is a point where my family of four got a little too big for the value and we needed just that little extra sq footage so it was mods mostly or Cabins in FTW.
You also may want to check if anything big is happening. We stayed once at ASSports when cheerleading comp was in WDW. 6am hundreds of HS cheerleaders were out practicing :crazy2: We survived though. It's Disneyworld .Beats working !

if the values had 2 queens or a king bed and sofa bed we would go value..2 doubles dont work for 3 or 4 people unless you are midgets.

We used to stay at the values. The last several trips were Coronado, Yacht, and the Dolphin. I spent 2 nights at Music as a last minute extension to my last trip and I hated it. HATED it.

Once you get used to certain levels of amenities, it really is hard to go back to a value.

:rotfl: We aren't midgets, and we fit fit just fine. It is all about personal preference. For us, we would rather save the money and go again sooner than later. We sleep and shower in the room and that's about it. :goodvibes

The answer to this question is so individual. Some people see it as just a place to sleep, others see it as part of the vacation. I fall into the later group and I do see a big difference between the values and the mods in terms of landscaping and overall atmosphere. If it's my one trip a year, it would absolutely be worth it to me to upgrade. We've stayed in values for one night here or there. They are fine. But fine is not what I want for my whole trip. Others LOVE the atmosphere and I totally get that. Just too busy and over the top for me:)

To each his own i guess, you guys are pretty small as I look at your pix..i assume thats your family, I'M 6 ft 3 and anyone sleeping with me in a double well wouldnt have any room. I hope using midget didnt offend, i think the term "little person" i hear sometimes being used instead is way more offensive in my opinion.

For us - yes. We stay at Value and use the $$$ otherwise. We're never at the room - only to sleep - anyway, so it's not worth it for us.

I stayed at Pop Century during my last stay- I had 5 month old and 4 yr old at the time. The room was too small for a pack n play, a stroller, and a 4 year old jumping around! The walk to the bus stop and cafeteria was almost unbearable! On our next trip tho April we decided to spend the extra $$ for some perks of a moderate - more than one bus stop - better beds - a table service restaurant on site - and a nicer pool! If you have older kids - and will really "just sleep there" why not save the $$.

I am The Queen of Value Resorts! I have stayed in each of the values multiple times, POR 5x, CSR 1x, CBR 4x, POFQ 1x, AKL 2x, SSR 1x and CR 1x. _I_ don't see the moderates (or really even the deluxes) as worth the extra money. The somewhat exception for me is during the summer, I like the moderates as they have more pools AND the pools have deep ends.

I have yet to have bad service at a value resort or issues with room noise (exception: AoA). The food courts are nothing special, but nothing terrible either.

It's usually just me and a GF, so double beds are not an issue. I'd rather save my money and put it toward a meal at Jiko or other signature dining! I'm MUCH more a Food Snob than a Resort Snob! LOL!

To save that much money...YOU BET id stay at the value. After all....you shower sleep and thats pretty much it at the resorts. I have stayed at a deluxe resort..and yes it IS nice. But, money is money....And close to 800.00 is a lot of savings for a room...Go with value.
