About 50% of all the rooms at the resort are connecting, so you stand a pretty good chance if you put in a request in advance and are not too picky about other specific location requests (the more things you ask for, the harder it might become to find two connecting rooms at the same time). Remember to ask for connecting rooms rather than just adjoining by the way. It might also help to follow up your request with a polite faxed reminder about 3-5 days before you arrive.

Oh, thanks for that clarification; wouldn't have thought to ask :goodvibes

Really looking forward to our first visit to Disney :). One month to go!

I prefer top floors to limit how many guests go by my window and potentially disturb us sleeping or noise.

Id say approximately 5 minutes to 6 perhaps from the location you mentioned.

Thanks!

I am good with a 6 minute walk. Especially after looking at pictures of the mansion area of the resort! It looks like a gorgeous walk as well!

@ POR now and just saw the coolest thing. In the pond between bldg 16and 17 we saw and otter playing. It was playing in and out of the water, then when lots of people started to watch it ran to bldg 17 and walked the path back toward bldg behind us. Very cool and unexpected

Thank you for the reassuring words! Like I said, I am excited, but I guess just a little nervous. Probably felt the same way the first time I didn't stay at CBR after 3 trips in a row.

I'm very much looking forward to the DTD boatride, and now I'm looking forward to the food court, too! :) Thanks again!

Anyone else, feel free to chime in with your favorite things about POR, too :goodvibes

First, I really love your trip report from last time! Great food pics! We are going during F&WF & MNSSHP this year so it was fun looking over all your posts!

As far as favorite things about POR, I have only stayed once, in the Alligator Bayou section, but my family loved it! We have stayed at all levels of resort so far and we try not to "compare" the deluxes with the moderates but rather appreciate the uniqueness of each resort. That being said, the grounds of the POR are beautiful. We loved the boat ride to DTD at night. Not great if you are in a hurry, but lovely if you plan time to enjoy it! The food court at Riverside Mill is delicious as well! A lot of choices to please everyone of the five of us! I personally loved the make your own pasta dish station!

We also hopped over to POFQ one morning to enjoy beingets <sp?>. My dh and kids LOVED them and my youngest had powdered sugar everywhere!:rotfl:

Have a wonderful trip! Please do another trip report when you return!!!!

Just changed from AoA to POR so I have a few questions. Is the waterslide appropriate for a 4-year-old? She loves waterslides, I'm just wondering if it's really fast. Are life jackets & towels provided @ the pool?

That's so cool - I'm jealous! About a year and a half ago we saw flying squirrels by the quiet pool in AB. It was amazing!

Thank you so much for reading my previous trip report! So glad you enjoyed it! food and wine was an amazing experience. We will return for that in the future, no question. I love taking food pics, and I will definitely write a TR for this trip, too. I actually started my PTR for it today :)

We are planning to be more relaxed this trip, so I'm looking forward to spending time at POR and peeking around in POfQ, too. Thank you for your advice! :thumbsup2

Woooohoooo just changed our flight to a morning arrival rather than the original flight which had us checking in @ POR sometime after 9pm!!! More time at WDW!!!

Very nice! That's still an idea being thought about by us, though we really like the idea of having a very leisurely start to our flying day. We've done *early* morning flights time and time again and we've grown tired of them. :)

Ooh I'd just read about an otter living in the river there! Can't remember what site I found it on last night, but it's somewhere. How neat!

We don't get out much LOL
So our vacations-every-5-years mean that we NEED to take advantage of every possible moment!!!! Well at least i think so.......DH was happy to get to the resort and essentially send the kids right to bed!!! No way!!!

Staying at POR for a couple nights the end of Feb. switched from RGR to standard room (wasnt sure 10 yr old boy would like theme). Can't wait to stay here. Requested Magnolia Bend.
We bought mardi Gras decorations for NYE party ordered a balloon with confetti gonna put a note in to reveal trip to kids at midnight.

I stayed in a RGR in August with my 12 yr old nephew & 10 yr old daughter and he liked the room just as much as she did. I think because of the blues & golds its not like Cinderella princessy so they boys are cool with it too.

I surprised them at Christmas for a return trip next August. Love that Military discount!
Happy New Year

Well I am off for the night, Happy New Year fellow POR Fans! Please be safe but have a wonderful New Years!!!

Good night from WDW!

Happy New Year Everyone!!! ... and to celebrate, the January 2013 Recreation Activities and Movie Schedules are now available. The outdoor movies will start at 7pm and the daily campfires commence at 5:30pm this month.

See the main Recreation Activities Schedule page for more details and larger/printable versions.

Lots of kids of that age seem happy with the waterslide, but you do need to be aware that she must be confident enough to go down on her own as only one person is allowed to ride it at a time. There is a small dip in the middle of the run, which speeds you up a bit, but it's still pretty child-friendly. I would suggest having an adult at the bottom of the slide, just off to one side, ready to reach in and grab her as soon as she's down. Might also be worth trying the slide over at POFQ too, as it's a bit shorter and milder (plus it has a fun water-serpent design). Oh, and I'm sure you plan to anyway, but try it first yourself to get a better idea of how it feels.

Towels are available at the main pools, and life jackets can be picked up from the POR marina and borrowed for the duration of your stay.

Hi all,
We got a disney vacation for Christmas. I've booked POR for May 11-19th. Kids are so excited. We can't wait. Can't wait to see the new rooms...loving the murphy bed idea.

Do you need a reservation for the carriage rides? We wanted to take one after my daughter goes to BBB & dinner @ 1900 Park Fare. Idk what time we'd be back to POR

Happy New Year everyone....especially Andre and Venom...you are amazing! I've been lurking for a month or more now, and have read through all the threads...what an incredible group of you calls POR and this thread home! We (me, DH, DD11, DD7) are heading to POR 4/12-4/19, for our first visit there, and thanks to you all, I couldn't be more excited! With Christmas over, I am now going 100% into Disney planning mode and am looking forward to the continued threads, advice, and support that are ever present here! Happy 2013 to all!

They do accept walk-ups if there's a slot which hasn't been pre-booked, but to be honest I don't think I'd risk it as it can be quite popular. Even if you book it a day or two in advance once you know your plans better, that might save disappointing your DD.
