Have a Christmas rant? This is the place for you!

My rant is my husband KNOWS he has to get a gift for his sister and her husband but he is just dragging his feet and not doing it. We need to mail the package to them by Saturday (I think) and I've been suggesting stuff, like a box of See's candy or a game or something from the sale ads on Sunday, but he just half-responds with an "I'll think about it" or completely ignores me. I know I will end up being the one to get them their gift, and I don't really like them enough to get soemthing "good" without grumbling about it later.

I didn't mind picking out a few toys for the almost 4 year old nephew, and I get stuff for MIL and FIL. Heck, I even tell DH what to get me for my big present. I am just asking him to take care of this ONE THING by himself. UGH, MEN!

I don't understand why some men are so averse to buying gifts. Is it because they don't know what to buy? Is it because they hate shopping? Is it because they think Christmas will wait for them? :confused3

I feel so petty after reading some of these other rants, but the only thing that has really bothered me so far this Christmas season:

Trying to find Christmas cards that actually say "Merry Christmas" on the front! I dug through an entire lot the other day that all said "Happy Holidays" or "Season's Greetings" !!

I could probably post a different rant daily but as for today's rant...

My son's 6th grade teacher assigned a big project due the week before Christmas break. Ugh. As if we don't have enough going on between regularly scheduled activities, holiday festivities, and life in general, now we have to find time to get to the library and the craft store, great... more shopping!

OMG...I have too many rants to list this year but I had to respond when I saw this one. My DS's teacher did the same thing to us. One of the two biggest reports of the year is due December 20th (when my DD was in the 4th grade, her report wasn't due until January 20th). :rolleyes2

And add me to the group with a DH that only has to buy for me (and I buy for everyone else) yet he contributes no additional money to the household fund so I have to pay for it all. And I have to give him a detailed list of what I want and where he can buy it or I won't get anything. Oh..and I do buy my own stocking stuffers to make sure I have something.

He isn't a bad guy...he is just shopping impaired.

OK...I have too many more rants. I would need my own thread. :rotfl2:

But I am blessed that my family is healthy and we will all be together for the holidays. My thoughts and prayers go out to those dealing with the loss of a loved one this holiday season

I am fully aware my rants are petty, shallow, fill-in-the-blank, and yes, I have many things to be thankful for, today and every day.

Doesn't mean those things don't bug me, though and I knew I wasn't the only one irritated by those "little" things. :)

I work in the nations leading electronic store so my rant is the same as it is every year at this time:

It's not my fault that we don't have the xyz that you need in stock. I just work here, I don't place the orders for merchandise.

It's not my fault that there is a line at the register. I left my area to come to the registers to help out as fast as I could. I apologize for the wait but I don't make the schedules.

It's not my fault that you don't know the name of the video game, CD or DVD your family member told you they wanted. There are about 25,000 different titles that it could be. Could you singe a little or act it our for me that might help. Please don't tell me it is the one that they are playing on the radio, you saw an ad for or little Tommy's friend has it. That doesn't help me help you.

It's not my fault that you may not get your item in time to put it under the tree since you waited until today to try to find it. I will do the best that I can but I am not Santa and cannot guarnatee Christmas delivery.

While I love helping customers, please understand that store employees are just that: we don't make schedules, order merchandise or are mind readers. Please be patient and help us help you. A little thank you and consideration goes a long way. And we do apprieciate the opportunity to help and your business. Please just keep your expectations real.
Thank you

You have my complete sympathy. I worked retail last holiday season. Never, ever again.

Wow, so weird because yesteday I was looking for some that say "Happy Holidays' or "Season's Greetings" and all I could find were "Merry Christmas" cards!

FYI: Walgreen's in particular had tons and tons of "Merry Christmas" cards.

I used to work for a national company that had a huge headquarters and many branches in several states. One year about two weeks before Christmas we were informed that there would be NO Christmas parties paid for by the company (in past years the Christmas parties had been very nice). We were instructed to cancel all plans and see if we could get any deposits back from the venues where the lunches or dinners were planned, etc. We were not even to have any "pitch-in" parties if they were being held during office hours. Well, Bah-Humbug. But the breaking point came when it was announced that the national headquarters would still have their big "Winter Carnival" because "so many people would be disappointed if it were cancelled". Needless to say, office morale hit a all-time low over that. Talk about feeling like a red-headed stepchild....

Geez. At least I don't know what I'm missing. Nothing like letting all the rest of the company know how valued they are <insert sarcasm>

We don't get a Christmas bonus, we don't get a Christmas party, we have to work Christmas Eve and they DO NOT heat our building, you should see me sitting at my desk with a sweatshirt, scarf, hood up, gloves and a blanket over my legs with my space heater on high under my desk. Tomorrow I need to bring a beanie, it's about 20 degrees in here!!

Maybe you could ask Mr. Scrooge for some coal for the fire. Also, seriously, check out the usb heated mice for the computer.

I ordered my own Xmas gift from DH last night. Probably the only thing I'll get this year.... last year he gave me nada and was quite fine with it. He said that he doesnt need presents... I told him I do. :)

To get out of going to my sisters house Xmas Eve, he said I dont have to go to his parents on Xmas Day..... I told him no just to make him suffer......

Gonna be a great holiday!:lmao:

Here's my rant:

I've been doing a lot of shopping, as usual, and I have to say, im sick (SO SICK) of every store playing the same flippin Christmas song! This is why im sick of xmas music, cause they tend to play the same ones all the time in every single store! :headache: WHY!? Cant they do a mix of regular & xmas music? Does it have to be ALL xmas music?

Also, I hate wrapping. This year im sticking everyone's gifts in gift-bags. Dont care. I might wrap the gifts for my DS12, but thats it.

I would love not having to wrap anything, but Sophie (our cat) thinks bags with tissue paper are her own personal toys, so yeah, you see the problem. :rotfl:

Have you tried stapling the top of the bag all the way across? No way they'll get inside the bag then! Sure its not as pretty, but at least it prevents the gift-reciever from peeking as well. im considering doing that this year. :lmao:

While I'm thankful to have many generous friends and family, I'm tired of spending the past month trying to come up with gift ideas for my kids (and worry about who we might have already given the same idea to so as to not get a bunch of duplicate things).

I was at the mall yesterday, and can I just say I cannot believe how disrespectful customers are to mall employees?!?!? I mean, some were just downright RUDE. Finally, after standing in line to check out (for 40 minutes at Nordstrom's) I finally got checked out. I just don't understand the need to be rude? What does that accomplish?

Okay my rant this year is very rude shoppers. If I am looking at something on aisle 1 please do not come stand so close to me that you are almost touching me, I wont be too long. If you are where I want to look I go to the other aisle and wait.

What???? usb heated mice????? OMG you may have saved my hand from serious frostbite. LOL My left hand is usually OK because the heater warms it but the right hand is frozen all the time and I have a hard time typing and using the mouse if I wear gloves so.....lol I'll be looking to add this to my next supply order! :) I ordered coffee, 2 containers, and they took 1 off and only send 1.....LOL It's pretty much ridiculous.

Not so much a rant, but an observation. Yesterday, I was standing in a check out line with DH and this older woman (older than me anyway) joined the line behind me. The line was a little long and and new lane opened up with the new cashier asking for the next person in line to come forward. I was thinking that the next person to be served deserved to go, but the woman behind me pushed her way to the front. That seemed a little rude, but felt that she may be late and needed to leave. However, after she checked out, she started to leave the check out area without taking her goods with her.

The cashier called after her and told her she didn't want the woman to leave without her purchases and was then told by the woman that she would have discovered her missing package soon since she had to wait for her friend who was still shopping in the store. By the time I checked out, this woman was still standing by the door waiting for her friend.

If you're just going to end up waiting for a friend, why not do the polite thing and allow those who have waited the longest to be checked out first instead of pushing ahead? I don't get it. :confused3

Mine is less a rant and more a wish. I just wish my kids understood the mystique of Christmas. To them it'll just be another day. They don't even notice the tree we put up.
