Hey everyone:wave2: Welcome to my very first PTR. I hope I do ok and you will enjoy reading my plans for what I hope is the most memorable first trip for my two lil guys!
I am starting to get very excited. I will have a lot of free time this month because I am using up left over vacation time that has to be used so I'm not working too much, so I thought what better way to pass the time than try out a PTR. Hopefully this will give me enough practice that I will be able to write an awesome TR when we get back. I love reading them and think I will love writing one of my own. I may not be the best writer but I will try my best to entertain you, and you can help me make the days until we get to the magic go by that much faster! :cool1:

So here it goes :thumbsup2

I guess we should start with some introductions.

That's me in the middle with my two guys. My name is Laura. Big Disney fan and am trying to pass on my love of Disney to my boys. I seem to be doing a pretty good job of it so far :woohoo: This will be my 5th trip to WDW 3 of those were when I was a little girl with my parents the first one when I was 5 years old. That fact makes this trip that much more special for me, my boys are 4 and almost 6 (will be 6 when we get there) so they get to experience it for their first time at just about the same age that I did. Let me just tell you I remember that trip, not all of it but certain big moments from it, so I can't wait for them to make the same kind of memories and experience all the magic for themselves.

Next up we have Jacob.....

He is 5 years old, about to be 6 here at the end of this month. He is an awesome big brother and just an all around happy, funny little kid. He is really into Star Wars and Avengers right now and cannot wait to ride the Star wars ride. He's a big dare devil and we have been watching some shows on Netflix about WDW and he can't wait to ride all the roller coasters especially EE.

Then there's my baby Dylan

He is 4 years old. Super awesome lovable little boy who laughs a lot, especially at his big brother. He was diagnosed as being mildly autistic when he turned 3 and has been in school ever since. It has done wonders with his development and went from being practically non verbal to being able to talk and tell us what he wants and needs. This makes me a little bit nervous about how he will do at the parks, he can burn out pretty quick. But I am sure he will be fine and I know he will love it he can't stop talking about it already. Everyday he asks me "mom can we go Disneyworld in february?". He too has been watching the shows with us and says he wants to ride everything. He is now really into star wars too like big bro so that's is what he says he wants to do the most.

Up next we have Grandmawwww and Grandpawwww (long story as to why the boys draw out the mawww and pawww but it stuck and it's super cute when they say it)

Karen and Rick are their names or mom and dad as I call them, they are the reason surprisingly that we are going to the world. They wanted to go on a vacation with the boys and I just assumed it would be somewhere warm and tropical because that is what they like to do.I've brought up WDW but always been vetoed so this time I didn't even bother :lmao:. First they said a cruise but then my Dad got it in his head that he wanted to do something extra special with the boys and decided WDW. They don't live in Vegas where we live, theyre in CA so they don't see the boys as much as they would like, so my dad wanted to do something that was just focused on having fun with them. This took a lot of convincing for my mom to get on board but she did. So this will be their 4th trip. However the last time they went was when I was like 8 years old so things have totally changed and it will be like new to them.

One side note that I should mention is that we are all DLR veterans, we were pass holders up until a year ago when they raised the prices and I had to start paying for Dylan so it was just more than I could afford. My parents only live about 25 minutes away from there so we would go at least 4 times a year. The boys love it there so much and have been bummed that we haven't been back in a while. My parents act like their not crazy about Disney but I know a few times that they took their passes and went to DLR for dinner and a couple rides even when the grand kids weren't there so they don't fool me:rotfl2: and I am sure they will have a blast on this trip.

I suppose that I will end here for now and in the next update we will talk about the when and where we are staying part :yay:

Hope you join me :cool1:

 Back for an update finally. I thought I would have lots of time on my hands with not having to work that much but boy was I wrong :rotfl2: But I am determined to stick with it and write this PTR :rotfl2:

Onward with the update. This will be about the when and where of our trip.

First we will start with the when....

Feb 2 to Feb 9 2013! Less than 2 months to go!! :cool1:
Picking the when was a little bit difficult because my mom's work likes to be tough approving vacation time. After a lot of back and forths it was decided that it would either be this week in Feb or we would have to wait until May. Thankfully we decided on Feb because I really did not want to wait until May :rotfl:
On a side note after booking the trip I said to my parents I am surprised you want to be in the parks during the Super Bowl. They responded with what are you talking about? Hello! Super Bowl is Feb 3!!! They were so focused on planning vacation they didn't even think of this. So now if the Patriots are in I will be on my own in the parks with my boys Sunday night :lmao: I love the patriots too but not enough to leave the parks early when I am at WDW plus could you imagine the boys being at Disneyworld and being stuck in the room watching football :scared1: I wouldn't do that to them or myself :rotfl:

Now on to the where. This took us awhile to decide. At first my parents wanted to stay offsite :confused3 I do understand why, I work for a timeshare company and get some pretty awesome travel perks so it would have been cheap. However after going through the little details like renting a car, gas, paying for parking and food it made more sense to go with the awesome deal my mom found with a travel agent to stay onsite which included dining! :yay:

What onsite resort would we choose... Well it was between a family suite at AS Sports, AoA or getting a room that has the Murphy bed to fit 5 at POR. AoA was out pretty quickly due to the price, that was really where I wanted to stay it looks so cool but it didn't make sense to pay so much more for the same room we could get at AS Sports. Then we had to debate Between bigger room for comfort or save a lil bit of money. Believe it of not POR was a lil bit cheaper than the family suite. So what did we choose??

Port Orleans Riverside!!! I am very excited for this resort. I have always wanted to stay here it just looks so pretty and the theming looks amazing!
We will be staying in one of the rooms in the alligator bayou section as these rooms can fit 5 people because they have a Murphy bed. It will be tight but honestly how much time will we actually spend in the room anyways... I say not that much  We are on the DDP for this trip, never done the dining plan before so I am excited, but we'll talk about the food later.

Here are a few pics I found online of the room....

I bet the boys are going to fight over who is stuck sleeping with mommy and who gets to sleep in the cool little bed :rotfl:
I am hoping we get our request to be in buildings 16, 17, or 28 so that we won't be too far from the main building!

I am excited to go see him one night while we are there it looks like a fun and entertaining show! popcorn::

Well that is the when and where of our trip. Hope you are enjoying my PTR as much as I am enjoying writing it!! I'm thinking the next update will be all about the Food!!!

Oh just for fun I wanted to put the boys Santa picture up, it turned out way better than I thought it would and gives me some hope we will get some good pics in the parks, which doesn't usually happen. :lmao:

Here it is.....

Thanks for reading. :)

Joining in! Looks like a great trip. I've never stayed at POR but I've heard great things about it. The boys' santa picture turned out great as well, hopefully that is a sign of great WDW pictures to come!

That was my first thought as well! :rotfl2: You'll just have to make them alternate nights, that's what.

Considering some football fans I have known, I can imagine the boys being stuck in the hotel room for the Super Bowl, but I'm glad you're not going to do that to them! :goodvibes

Thanks for joining :) I am excited about POR I had a guest staying at my resort this week who has stayed there and says it is his favorite so the got me even more pumped!

We will be at POR Feb 6-16- maybe we'll run into each other!

Wouldn't that be fun to run into each other! If not I hope you have an amazing trip!!

Love your pics! :)

Thank you!! :)

I know they fight over who gets to sleep with me at home sometimes and then when a cool lil bed is involved i'll be chopped liver :rotfl2: oh well like you said they'll just have to take turns :thumbsup2

I could never sit in the room at WDW no matter whos in the superbowl :rotfl:

Yeah, I'm chopped liver as soon as grandma shows up. Pretty sure it would be a tad more annoying to be upstaged by a bed! :lmao:

So it's been awhile since I've updated this. I told myself I would not give up and I won't :) I've made it through the holidays so now I can get on here and continue with the PTR :thumbsup2

We left off on the when and where of our trip. For this update we will go over the all important FOOD popcorn::

We booked this entire trip already well within the 180 day mark so I had some work cut out for me trying to maneuver around making ADRs. We got everything that we wanted except for 'ohana :rolleyes2 which was the one I wanted the most because I've always wanted to try it. I keep checking everyday for cancellations, so far no luck but I will not give up!
We are on the DDP, never done this before so I am excited to see how it works out for us I think we will love it though.
So here are our ADRs.......

Sat Feb 2: arrival day will just be using CS as we need to save a TS credit for another day.

Sun Feb 3: lunch will be a CS somewhere and we have a dinner ADR at

As you can see all ADRs are for dinner. Therefore the plan is to use CS credits for lunches and for breakfast we are going to bring somethings for in the room and use snack credits.
I am really hoping to get 'Ohana for Sunday!

Well there you have our ADRs for our trip. I would love to hear what you think about our choices and if you have any suggestion I would love to hear those as well! :cool1:

A little late to the party but I caught myself up!

I always say next time I go moderate I'd like to try POR (either one.) They both look so beautiful so I'm sure you'll enjoy yourself. Will you be on the boat route there?

I'm a huge fan of the DDP. I know other people complain its a waste of money, and not a savings, but I find that if you really utilize everything it does make for a savings. I personally love being able to sit down at a table, order whatever you want, and not having to worry about carrying around money for dinner, or continuing to throw it on the card. I've heard Ohana is great! I haven't gone, but I want to try it as well!

I agree already paid for just feels better. Just knowing I can go in and order whatever I want off the menu and have to think about the price will mean nice and relaxing dinners :thumbsup2

I'd like to do the DDP with hubby for just this reason, but another nice possibility is Disney gift cards. Our last trip I used those for most of my food, and I'm thinking we'll do them for tips when we have the DDP. With the DDP and gift cards for tips, then it's ALL paid for ahead of time. ;)

That's truly the way to do it I think :)
