Whoo boy....Iheartthemouse I agree with everyone else, get up to the school and make some heads roll over this. I can't believe they were told about this before and nothing has changed. Thank goodness your little guy came to you.

Candace: boo for no bonus...but Yay for your great raise talk! I am hoping you get everything you deserve.popcorn::

Wookie: wow good for you for taking schooling along with every day life....:teacher::worship:

Jeanette: ok I will be majorly (is that a word?:confused3) envious if you and DH get a weekend away again!! ;)

Miss: sorry I haven't answered you yet about Girl Guides:hug:. The girls meet with their troops once a week, and there is about 25-30 girls per group. They get to work on earning badges, do work in the community, go on weekend sleepovers, have camp outs in the spring. Etc. They both love it, and littlest DD can join next year. It teaches them a lot of good stuff, and helps with self esteem too. Hope Miss M does well tonight!:goodvibes

Well, I was one of the foolish ones thinking some sort of discount would magically appear today. Totally wishful thinking on my part. Must be patient. :badpc:

I am never patient!!

Hugs to all

Thanks. It can be hard to juggle. Like when I was driving my mil to Andrews, TX from Justin, TX (about an 8 hour drive with all the stopping the mil has to do) so she could spend as much time as she could with her mother that has since died of cancer, and doing school at the same time. Luckily, I was in an online class and could do it. I didn't have a choice though. The DH drove me to the school he went to, and told me I could either get a full time job or go to school. I picked school, so I could get a degree where I could get a job working from home. Besides, maybe if I"m super lucky, I can get a great paying job, working for the Disney company from home.

....but.....but....I no wanna do patient!! I'm like Varuca Salt....I want it NOW!!!!

On a non-Disney note, anyone that is currently living in, or has lived in, the Chicago area ever heard of a pizza place called Rosati's? How is it?

Wookie Mine is the 25th, but I'm skipping it remember. Diabetes is a horrible disease. It can really destroy your quality of life if you don't control it. I don't think a lot of people realize when they are diagnosed all the things that can go wrong. I lecture my kids all the time about excercise, eating right etc etc. Of course you can do all the right things like my dh, and still get it. Most of my kids cousins on my dh's side are overwieght. It's sad to see since it runs in his family.

MM Sorry about the lack of bonus. I hope you get that raise. I know you will spend some of that extra money on Club level.:)

Pas I would not give up your summer family vacation. I really can't blame the PCP for sending him to the ED. At least he was concerned. The doc at the Ed could have cared less. You know what it's like dealing with doctors. They're all different. I think he will need to go on insulin for a while. I'm not sure why the PCP thought he needed to be hospitilized for this when I'm an RN and can manage it quite well. I've worked in ICU for goodness sake. Anyway going to PCP with him this time. Hopefully he can go out on FMLA for a while.

I can't decide what to do in May. The dates I want I can only get LV at YC. If I'm going to do LV might as well do CL. I really just want a GV room at YC. Hmm I have already changed multiple times. I also want to got to Dl in Febuary. They are getting rid of the airline discount at Dl. Ap discounts are only 10%, but a room at the Dl is only 275.00. That's cheaper than Poly with a 40% discount. Lots to think about.

Morning RC family! Kids have a half day today and I need to get to Target this morning to finish Hanukkah shopping. Feeling a little stressed this morning, have to tell Steven after school that he has another endoscopy tomorrow and he is going to freak. Plus I got an email from one of Steven's teachers that the county Autism Resource Teacher did come back to observe Steven and has requested a meeting with the principal. We've never had administration involved in our meetings. Not sure how to take this, and I just have to sit and wait to hear something.

DH mentioned that our friends asked if we wanted to go out tomorrow night which I REALLY DO!!! But Steven had a complication after his endoscopy in August that landed us in the ER, so I'm just not comfortable leaving him that night. I'm sure he'll be fine like the other times, but you know that motherly instinct takes over ;)

Padawans - YC LV is my favorite view so far!!! Sounds like you have a lot to consider but were here to help you sort through it all! Is it just DL getting rid of the airline discounts? that sounds kind of strange that it wouldn't be Disney wide.

Wookie - I think it's great that you're going to school! I can't imagine even try to do my own homework after helping the kids with their homework. I'm so happy I finished before the little ones were born, I actually finished my masters the week Steven was born :)

Jen - hopefully that magical discount will show up soon! Patience isn't my strongest attribute either ;)

Happy Thursday everyone!!!

We were upgraded from a GV CL to LV Cl at YC last year. It has by far been my favorite room. No I don't think WDW will ever get rid of airline discounts. WDW rack rate is so high they will never be able to sell the rooms without a discounts. Keep in mind most of the time I'm only getting 5-10% more off my room than the ap holders or the public. Dl is not giving public discounts at the moment. Ap rates are only 10%. I don't think Dl has ever had a specific Airline employee discount. The call it a corporate discounts which I assume includes other corporations besides airlines. That is what they are changing. It was 30% off this year. I guess Carsland is such a draw they don't need discounts right now. The good news is rack rate is semi-reasonable during value season. If we do make a return trip it would have to be in January/Feb or Sept. I paid 348.00 last week, and that was with 30% off. The price is the same in January and that's at rack rate. Dl has some big price swings depending on when you visit.

Finish drive to Orlando and check into the
CR with a TPV room!!
This is an excellent plan!!! I haven't eaten at CRT, BUT...my kiddos would fare much better with the Breakfast offerings!!

Did you check the rates on Orbitz? Really good rates and then you get the additional 15% off.
I did...checked EVERYTHING!! Best deal was the one I had already..All Star Sports...Called Frontier today about the flights...Did quick calculations, and it is not in my budget...Not so close to Christmas. I am working 1/7 nights, and that Friday night...so my dates are already inflexible. I had to switch shifts this month for Maddie's Orchestra concert already...:sad2: Guess it wasn't meant to be :sad1:

Well....no bonusAnd, I had my meeting with our director. I made my proposal and I was shocked to see the relief in his face when he realized I wasn't resigning, which he thought was the case. He completely agreed with all of the points I brought up and said I have worked hard and that he thinks I am totally reasonable in asking for more money.

He will be talking with our V.P. today or tomorrow for authorization and get back to me. :yay:
 Raise TOTALLY trumps a bonus!!!! SO.....CL?

:grouphug: to all of you. Quick hellooooooooo now that my internets fairy has returned from her midday drinking party. :crazy2: :confused3 About to pick kiddo up from school then she's off to GS and later, she'll have her ceremony where they present the Daisy to them and she becomes an official cookie hawker. .

:cool1: Good job Miss M!!!! :goodvibes

My poor DS8 got punched in the back of the head by a kid at school yesterday. He had already had a problem with this kid hurting him earlier in the year and the teacher did nothing after I told her. I thought it had stopped so I let it go.

This time I called the principal. The assistant would not let me speak to her but said she would handle it. Again, nothing happened. DS also confessed that this kid has pushed him down and kicked him in the crotch multiple times at recess. He never told me or anyone at the school because the kid threatened him not to after he told the first time.

I'm too mad to think straight right now and need some rational advice. WWYD?
Go to the school! Zero tolerance!!! They need to see Mom to REALLY move on this...IMHO  I've been through similar issues with DS...same thing, told the teacher...nothing...then it happened again and I set up an appointment with the Principal. Always keep a paper log, and any emails, etc...cc the Superintendent ;)

And  for you...it's hard on us Mama's to know are babies are scared and hurt!!!! Keep telling your DS he did the right thing telling you, and he should always tell you!

Jeanette - oh you are going to love Anna Maria!! We go to Siesta Key just south of Anna Maria and it is sooooo beautiful. The sand is amazing!!!! When are you going? We will be in Siesta for a week in July.
We are going the week before WDW...Aug. 18-25th :cloud9: We love St. Pete Beach, and this place looks am amazing. Patio with a walk off onto the beach!!!! The water looks very calm too :goodvibes

Jeanette: ok I will be majorly (is that a word?:confused3) envious if you and DH get a weekend away again!! ;)
Not likely...MIL is complaining about her hours at work...and we need her to watch the pups in August...not gonna push...Approached DH about taking just the boys this time...and :duck:

Docs are unpredictable, and as a nurse its frustrating when you know what needs to be done but isn't being done :headache: Is his PCP an endocrine as well?? When I had my hypoglycemia issues..my PCP wasn't concerned about my 29 Glucose but the specialist really helped me understand the cause and treatment...fingers crossed I've only had another episode once (totally my fault)....

DL is definitely more tempting at that price :cool2:

Sooooo, DH and I talked over the August trip, I'm keeping it as is for now...part of me thinks I should get rid of CL, or even change to CSR...BUT location is a huge plus...and we deserve a little pampering...I have plenty of time to pay it off!!!

I would stay home with Steven...but I'm paranoid anyway....:rotfl:

Happy Hanukah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ahhhhhh homework, I'm starting a Master's program in January  Another reason I can't do a January trip...ugh....it will take me forever...but it will go quick I am sure...my ultimate goal is to get my Doctorate in Nursing...we will see

Hopefully the resource teacher is just looking to adjust the classroom environment...and will make school life better for him

We have ARD meetings for both our boys. At their old school district, the assistant principal was the one that was over the meetings. I had school this year the only day they had the meetings this year, so I don't know who was over them. I know exactly what you mean. I remember when John Michael was getting tested and having blood work done. I hated telling him he would have to get more done.

I don't blame you, I would be nervous to leave him as well. Then again my DH has always thought I was super paranoid when it came to the boys. I only left them with his mom or my mom, who both had infant CPR and first aid training. I preferred leaving them with the mil b/c she's a nurse.

Thanks, it can be a real pain. I keep telling our boys that we did it the wrong way. I have it easy compared to my DH. He worked full time and full time school.

Hi Peeps!! :wave2: playing catch up again....:goodvibes

IHEART: Agree with the others, demand a meeting with the principal. It's time they practice what the schools preach on zero tolerance and stand up and DO something.... they tell our kids to be the difference, stand up for what you believe, the SCHOOL has to do so too. You ARE your child's biggest advocate. Let us know what happens.

Sarah, You know we will be thinking of you tomorrow and wishing you well and a speedy recovery.... you have the holidays and WL CL beckons ... :goodvibes You so need your Disney time after the last few months!

MM.. sorry about the no bonus but yay for the director pitching your case for a pay increase!!

Padawans, Agree with you 100% that most people don't understand the seriousness of diabetes....sorry your DH has been having problems, hope he gets it under control and keeps excercising and eating healthly. He has you so he will get the best possible support at home. My DH has been a Type 1 Diabetic for 27 years now.... it's a horrible disease that can fraught with complications even when you do all the right things. The best of luck to you and your family.

Pas, Poor DS having a meltdown over glasses  ... hopes he can realize how much better it will be to be able to see cleary ... and maybe the other kids will like his glasses .... Now my Sam wants them, somehow she is the only one that has escaped so far. :flower3: And :yay: for YC CL... really it was only a matter of time ... Where to after this??? :upsidedow

Pop preferred....save the extra $$$ for cab fare if that tootsie starts aching!!! I am biases as my BFF is the "Queen of Pop" ;) But I just can't love the mods...that's just me. Second choice would be WL :goodvibes

Pas, you are my biggest fan  Bandit, if you are reading along, sending you a PM with info ...:cool1:

Melissa, Hope you are feeling better today. I would stay home with DS too; maybe you can re-schedule with your friends?? And Happy Hannukkah!! :flower3:

I'm so sorry. I hope your DH is able to get his blood sugar (I thought about just typing bs, but then kept think it looked like something else other than blood sugar) straightened out. Out of my parents and my DH's parents, my mom is the only one that is not a diabetic. We have a lot of history on both sides of the family.

Wookie, the "bs" comment made me smile ... same reason Sam didn't get the middle name of "Olivia" didn't like the initials of SOB for her ... :rotfl2:

Now Diabetes is not a smiling matter ... it's a silent killer... make sure you all do the best you can do with diet and excercise.

CRT ...we did lunch and liked it very much ... we were there in August, and we preferred getting early to MK to do rides before taking a break from the heat for lunch ... worked out well for us. :) Would youR younger DS really want to order off the kids menu?? No problem with leaving you car at CR for the day after you check out. The parking permit is good until midnight on the day you check out. :)

Ahhhhhh homework, I'm starting a Master's program in January  Another reason I can't do a January trip...ugh....it will take me forever...but it will go quick I am sure...my ultimate goal is to get my Doctorate in Nursing...we will see

:yay: for the master's program!! It's okay to take it slow, you will get there in the end! You too Wookie!!

We won't book any hotels on the way there and home, since we don't know how far we'll drive each day. I just don't want to be driving at 2 AM like we were this last time. Also, I need to start looking at places to stay after the WDW part of the trip. It needs to be directly on a beach (not across the street from it), have a great pool, be near enough for us to drive to KSC, and not cost a small fortune.
I'm thinking mine would do better with breakfast as well. It's just getting the DH out of bed early enough to make sure they are still serving breakfast when we order.

I thought, for about a second, about getting a Master's in programming. The DH has one in something to deal with networking and is one class short of his MBA. He thought about taking that one class, but it's extremely hard, we would have to pay OOP for it, and he really doesn't need it since he's working for the family business. He doesn't think Master's degrees are as important in the programming field, so I probably won't do it.

You're right, it isn't. The DH and I need to get in better shape. He had the lap band surgery several years ago. He was getting close to 500 lbs and the doctor told us he had 3 options. 1. Have lapband 2. Have gastric bypass 3. Have a widow maker of a heart attack before he was 40, but he wouldn't know he had one b/c he would be dead before he hit the ground. He did good, for a while. Then he stopped getting fills, b/c they hurt too much and he pushes to eat more. He's back up to 450-ish, I would guess. I don't care about him looking like Channing Tatum, I just want him healthy and breathing.

He's pickey about food and some of the sides on the adult menu have me worried. Although he would eat the chicken pasta, as long as we could take everything but the sauce, chicken, and prosciutto out of it before cooking. Mainly I was thinking of the desserts.

Thanks!! I am taking mine slow. Like only 1 class every 8 weeks. When we get back from WDW in June 2013, I'll start taking 2 class every 8 weeks. I am a little over half done now.

Wookie - Love your plan CR TPV will be awesome! :cool1:

Mousemommy - Sorry about the bonus. Still keeping my fingers and toes crossed on that raise. It sounds promising.:thumbsup2

Jenny - I think May discounts are pretty common. Hope they are released very soon! :goodvibes

babyberger - I don't blame you for not wanting to leave the night after Steven's procedure. I'd feel the same way, although I'm sure everything will go smoothly

pas - St Pete's beach! :thumbsup2 I've never been to the gulf coast but I would love to someday. It looks beautiful and relaxing :cloud9:

Janet - Too funny that Sam wants glasses. I'll bet she would rock a nice faux pair just for fun! ::yes::

Jungle Cruiser - Good luck tomorrow.

Thank you so much for your advice and words of encouragement regarding DS. :grouphug: It is so nice to have such an amazing support group. You are the best!! ::yes::

So, I followed your advice and went down to the school this morning. Apparently, I got blown off because the principal has some big meeting today that she was preparing for. She had forwarded the matter to the teacher and trusted it would be handled. She will not be at the school today at all. :crazy2:

The assistant principal offered to call the principal of the Intermediate school over (it's right next door) to speak with me and the kids today but I declined. I'd rather our principal handle it as she knows and adores my DS and knows the other kid's history too (he has been suspended for violence before)

I did pull out our school's Code of Conduct and it does say acts of violence will result in an automatic suspension with possible expulsion. I will accept no less with this kid. I also think the teacher needs her head examined. She's retiring this year so I think her give a darn is broken. :rolleyes2

Anyway, I'll keep you updated as I get more info. Oh, quick question. Does anybody think I should have the other school's principal called in? Does it look like I don't care if I wait one more day to get results? If so, I'll go back up there this afternoon.

When I see the the abbreviations BS or SOB the first thing that pops into my mind is "blood sugar" and "shortness of breath". I guess I've been a nurse too long. I forgot about the double meaning.

:grouphug: to all.

I_Heart: Oh. My. That is totally unacceptable; they'd best fix it. Wow. :sad2: I'm so glad he came to you... poor kiddo. Please let us know how it turns out.

Melissa: Careful at Target! I'd with all the "stay home" votes... count me in the paranoid category too :-)laughing: Jeanette.)

Jen: Doing a discount dance for you... I know it'll happen. :cheer2:

Jeanette: You. are. amazing. :goodvibes Masters program! Seriously, I don't know how you find the time. :worship:

Wookie: That hat is so pretty! Love the colour. Can't tell from the pic, but is it a soft, fuzzy yarn? Kinda looks that way. Also, I can give my verdict on Rosati's. (Mind you, I'm an east coaster so I don't consider Chicago-style deep dish as even being worthy of the pizza moniker.) I've only had Rosati's regular crust and it's pretty good. I don't have pizza very often but we've recently had Jet's (a Michigan based company) open in the area and I'd take their pizza over any of the other local offerings. They've got a nice Sicilian-style thick crust which is quite yumm-o.

Candace: Minimal ADRs. Yeeeeeeah! :thumbsup2 I kinda feel a bit bad about the one we do have for such a short trip but it is for our first Le Cellier lunch. Figured we couldn't try it without!

Janet:  I'm with Sam. I always wanted glasses when I was younger... unfortunately, my wish came true with a vengeance! :3dglasses

Hi everyone, let's see if I can catch up!

pas, yay for going for your Masters, good for you! Now then, should I change your hotel from the GF to YC CL on the first page?

i heart, my heart breaks to hear that any child is bullied in school. A teacher retiring is no excuse for not wanting to get involved. I would wait for the principal you know, I think you might get better results with some closer to the situation. Meanwhile, give your son lot of hugs,

mousemommy, sorry about the bonus but hope the raise comes through!

miss, I remember my DD's being in the Daisy Scouts. Soooo cute! Tell Miss M, I am good for some cookies!!!! I will even pay shipping :)

padawans, so sorry to hear about your DH's scare. I hope he is feeling better and glad he has his own private nurse :goodvibes

babyberger, I understand your hesitation to go out when your son is having a procedure today. Hope all goes well and you have a relaxing evening with your family, free of medical issues! AND, Happy Hanukkah!

Grumpy Grandma, hope you had a wonderful birthday, glad I remembered correctly! Believe me there are times when my brain turns to mush  AND, I will find you and Janet at WDW no matter where you end up. Obviously I would love to see you two at WL, but I suspect we won't know until you arrive. A true RCer, 3 reservations for resorts at once! :rotfl2:

Janet, lot's of things on your plate next week. I will be in touch and sending you lot's of

I know I am forgetting a lot of people, sorry, so much to do before tomorrow.

When the DH work for the IT department for CitiFinacial, he had to go to Chicago for a month when they changed to new software. He fell in love with the Chicago stuffed pizzas. When a pizza place opened up in our town in TX that was had Chicago stuffed pizzas he was so happy. The family had moved from Chicago, but it didn't last long b/c the service sucked. Then another "Chicago style" pizza place moved in & the owners claimed to have lived on the south side of Chicago their entire lives, but we're clueless on what a stuffed pizza was. Even after we describe it in detail, they looked at me like I had two heads. On favorite pizza place right now is a family owned place that the family moved from New Jersey to North Texas to get away from the Jersey winters. Their pizza is amazing!! David found a Rosati's while he was driving around for work. He just hates to try it and it not be a true Chicago-style stuffed pie. Especially since it's like a 30 drive from our house.

UGH....just back from the hospital. DD4 had her swimming lessons this morning and while doing a jump into the pool, she decided to turn back towards the edge. Not like her at all, she really is a good swimmer normally. Anyhoo...she banged her chin off the wall, and ended up needing 4 stitches.:sad2:

Mommy was :faint: literally, but held it together. DD8 who was home sick today was all:sad:, DH was  us all, and my parents who came down to help out by taking DD8 home while we were at the hospital were all :scared:.

Turned out fine though, no tears from my toughie princess: the DR. was great and it was all over lickety split. It was one of those moments when I wanted to tell her about our next Disney trip. :rolleyes1

So that is all, just thought I would share out drama!;)

Hope you are all having a good day!!!:hippie:

Omg I would have been like :faint: too. She's tougher than I am, I would have been crying so much, the doctor would have no knock me out to put the stitches in. Hopefully no more drama for you and she heals super quick.
