Jack Sparrow look alike

So we were at MK the other day just outside of Pirates and there was a guy in full blown Jack Sparrow gear...hair, beard, hat...the works. Our DDs got all excited an grabbed their autograph books and went to wait. He whispers to me "I'm not a cast member" and I whispered back "sign anyway..." They were so excited thinking they had met the real Captain Jack. It makes me laugh but thankfully the guy was gracious enough to sign for them. So if he's a DIS member...thank you!

He probably went to the Pirates League for a makeover. You should never EVER let your child near someone knowing full well they do not work for Disney. What if he would have done something inapproprate with those kids? It happens more than you might think AND you would have ZERO recourse because you knowingly gave permission to a stranger to interact with your children. Sounds like he was a nice guy, but really inappropriate and totally against Disney's rules for someone to sign autographs when they are not a CM.

While I highly doubt that anyone would try anything "inappropriate" with your child when you are standing right there beside him/her, I still wouldn't ask for an autograph from someone who wasn't an "authorized" character.

I wonder if this is the same guy who other posters have spotted in a couple of other parks over the last couple of weeks. Given the rules about adults dressing up as characters I'm surprised he hasn't been asked to leave/change clothes by park security.

We saw this guy a few weeks ago at HS. He sat next to my mom on Star Tours. I thought it was odd that Jack Sparrow was on Star Tours. My mom asked him and he replied that he wasn't a cast member. He went on to say that he can't take photos with people, etc.

While it did strike me as a wee bit odd (since it goes against Disney rules for adults dressing up), I must say that he looked JUST LIKE Jack Sparrow.

We saw Jack Sparrow on our Thanksgiving week trip eating dinner at The Mara at AKL. We did not let our kids go up to him because I have to admit I thought it was odd.

If I was Johnny Depp and I ever wanted to go to WDW, I would just dress as Capt Jack Sparrow. Probably get way less attention.

Seriously? There were tons of people around. He was just sitting there on a bench talking to people. You make it sound like I sent my kids into a private room with a stranger.

And he DID say (quietly to me) that he wasn't supposed to sign anything but I asked him to anyway. And he was nice enough to oblige. No pictures were taken. Just a name in a book.

Me too! But not at The Mara. We saw him at either AK or MK, I can't remember now. I was shocked he got through the gate, or hadn't been escorted out.

What date was this? I rode ST with JS on the evening of 11/17.

I'd post a pic, but he politely wouldn't let me take one. House rules, he said.

Now I am going to be looking all over for Jack Sparrow on our upcoming trip!

I saw him Sunday with his family - I was at the Magic Kingdom boarding the boat to the Wilderness Lodge as he was getting off...he looked like a dead ringer for Jack Sparrow!!

I remember seeing a news report about a young woman dressed as Tinker Bell was turned away and not allowed in the park. (ruined her whole anniversary trip with her bf, of course!!)

So, I wonder how this guy is getting away with it?

Maybe some weird social experiment ?

Wouldn't surprise me if lt was a legit cm. It does fit the character, to act all odd like that.

(Yes, I know he's said he's not. Sigh. Wishful thinking.Haha.)

I'm wondering if this isn't a disney thing ??? I remember awhile back with the new pirates movie JS was out signing autographs could this be something for the ride since he has only been seen at MK and HS both parks with a pirates attraction??? Taking a guess here :confused3

The JS I saw clearly explained he could only go around the parks like that if he agreed to Disney's rules. If he didn't, he'd have to walk the plank so to speak.

Likely because he's better behaved. The OP and mesaboy2 both report that he made it very clear he wasn't a CM, and that he refused to have pictures taken while in WDW.

He also may not present at the gate in full costume. From what I have heard, people who slip through in "Disney inappropriate" clothes are more likely to be hassled within the park if they are also acting inappropriate. If the gate CMs don't stop them, the CMs inside are less likely to interfere unless they have another reason to.

I don't think it was ever explicitly said, but I have wondered if the girl with Peter Pan was already "playing Tinkerbell" at the gate -- if people were taking pictures with her or she was otherwise causing a fuss before she even got to the gate, obviously Disney isn't going to let her in.
