I may be wrong, but last week someone reported this guy riding the Kilimanjaro Safari in AK.

Edit: I found the thread... http://www.www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=46769478

So, we are only missing an Epcot sighting.

Should be fun to join him Drinking around the World...

Edit 2: re reading the AK thread, appears as he's been spotted in DTD, where pics were taken. So should be fun if some Diser has any to share.

I just find it hard to believe that Disney hasn't stopped this guy if he continues to do this and so many people have spotted him how has a cm not ???

You assume that a CM hasn't seen this guy--of course they have. Apparently they don't have a problem with him.

Hey, maybe he IS Jack Sparrow. Not a CM in costume, not even Johnny Depp (he is just an actor), but the actual pirate!

we saw this guy at probably the same time & ride, he was right in front of my husband and kids in line. I saw him a couple of days later and it struck me as odd, I even searched the board to see if people were talking about it lol!

I haven't seen this JS in WDW, but my family was driving around a shopping center here in MD sometime last spring (not even Halloween!) and right in the window of a Starbucks was Jack Sparrow sitting at the bar stool facing out the window!! I made my DH drive around the parking lot again to get another glance (my kids were telling me not to stare! :lmao:). I'm like "There's Jack Sparrow!!" I wanted to get out of the car and go into Starbucks and talk to the guy or get an autograph, but NO ONE and I mean NO ONE was even paying attention to this guy!! It was the strangest thing. I just couldn't bring myself to go in to find out what he was doing in MD (I was thinking of all sorts of questions to ask him - mostly, what was he doing away from WDW!!) Maybe he found his way back!

It was the evening of 11/16--our last night (and last ride!) while at Disney. We scooted into Star Tours just as it closed.

I so wish I would have seen him on our last trip in October! I LOVE JS but my DH and DD10 did not want to wait in the hot sun for an hour to see him.

I stiil have a hard time believing that this isn't a Disney stunt. It would be one thing if this was a one time thing, but he's been seen in 3 parks and DTD.

Disney's no adult in costume policy has nothing to do with behaviour, but rather they don't want people to mistake guests in costume as CM's. (Which is exactly what is happening here.) The fact that this guy seems to avoid pictures and autographs "because they told him to" means, that not only has he spoken to Disney (or their security) but that he has an agreement with them.

But perhaps I'm being naive..... but I wouldn't put it past disney to have a character walk around the parks as a stunt.

Seriously? He was going to grab them throw them to the ground and stomp on them? Standing in any line you are just as close to strangers.

    Really.

Ps. My daughter was dressed as Cinderella an security asked for her autograph. Maybe they should have arrested her....

I saw him in AK Camp Minnie-Mickey on Nov. 17. He looked exactly like JS except he was neatly dressed in a suit. I couldn't help but stare at him as he walked by and when he said hello to me he even sounded like JS! I looked at DS9 and asked him if he just saw JS. I thought maybe I was hallucinating. ;) But DS9 saw him too! I figured he was not a CM...but it was neat to see JS just wandering around AK.

Oh please...no one said he should have been arrested. I was merely pointing out that it might not be the safest thing in the world to put your children in a situation with someone dressed as a Disney character who is not a Disney employee. What if the girls wanted a hug from "Jack Sparrow"? Some guys get off on that type of stuff. The fact that he said he was not an employee should have been a sign to leave the guy alone. Obviously others have been told by this guy that he is not allowed to sign. OP could have gotten this guy escorted out of the park if a CM was watching. Hardly the same thing as your daughter being asked for an autograph.

I called Johnny and talked to him the other day. I told him I know its you, and he just laughed. He the said, "If I dress like that people wont believe its me and they move on. If I show up dressed in normal cloths, well you know what will happen."

We both laughed and I said, yup good idea. :thumbsup2

I'd say her parent probably has heard of stranger danger. She may know it is over rated. She probably isn't paranoid and could assess the situation. The op also didn't force him to do anything. It was simple fun. Spontaneous good time fun.

People who shout boogeyman all the time should really consider the facts more often.

We saw him getting on POC a couple of weeks ago. He got in the boat ahead of us. When I said something to the CM at the podium, she said he wasn't one of theirs. He looked very convincing.

The ONLY actual fact in this situation is that an adult guest dressed in a Disney costume is not to pose for photos or sign autographs. It is grounds for being removed from the park. This is Disney's rule, not mine. BTW, I don't shout "boogeyman" all the time, so I am not one of the "people" to which you are referring. As I said in my original post, the guy sounds like a nice guy, and it would have been a shame for that nice guy to get removed from the park for doing something kind. There are ways to meet the "real" Jack Sparrow at Disney World. Been there. Done that. :rotfl:

I have to agree with you. I find it to be really weird he hasn't been asked to stop, regardless of how he acts. If I knew he wasn't a CM I'd never approach him, with or without children.

Lol, I can deal with friendly strange people. Acting like jack sparrow is no stranger than adults clamoring to get their pictures taken with other adults dressed in costumes. :)

I'd much rather deal with fun people than the grumpy, or paranoid people.

I don't think anyone here is being grumpy or paranoid...and I've never been inclined to take a photo with a character, CM or not.
