One of my favorite resort things to do is to relax by the poolside. Even though we love the Poly one of my frustrations with the main pool was the lack of space to lounge by the pool. This past June was our first June trip and we were just not ready for the crowds by the pool versus our normal fall trips.

Anyway, in June I was like a magnet for annoying people and with not a lot of options to move poolside I just grinned and bared it most times [i.e. people on conference calls (I am trying to avoid work) and just the loud and obnoxious (some drunk some not)].

So with all of that being said and the facts that I still have one little one, DD6, who still needs to be watched where are some great places that you like to hang out by the pool? I'm not necessarily looking for the prime spots but the relaxing ones.

The absolutely most relaxing place is at the quiet pool, but your son will probably want SAB. :) It is usually quiet by the sand pool area in SAB, where the little ones hang out.

Joining the new thread. We have our next trip officially booked using our new AP rates! We are staying BC CL 1/18-1/22.

Woohooo!

We had a wonderful time. Probably worst weather we've ever had on a cruise though. Hardly any sun at all. Seas were very calm though. There was some sun the morning at Castaway but it was cold (high 60's, low 70's) with pretty good wind so we only walked around and had lunch there. I never expect to actually have a "beach" day at Castaway from mid-November through the end of March. A beach day to me means when you sit on the beach you get so hot you need to be in the water most of the time and the water doesn't turn you purple. The Bahamas are so far north compared to the Caribbean that I never plan on our winter Disney cruises being good Castaway "beach" days.

Our brunch at Palo was, as usual, the highlight of our cruise.

We just relaxed, actually more like collapsed, ate, read and enjoyed the beautiful ship!! This will probably be our last Disney Western Caribbean. Costa Maya is a total waste of time and Cozumel has gotten so bad that there is no reason to go ashore ... JMO of course. I'm sure if you spend the money and do an excursion you might enjoy it but people I talked to that went to the beach in Costa Maya said it was horrible and the "ruins" were nothing worth seeing. When you get off the ship it's a bunch of cheap t-shirt places and cops with machine guns ... yep, real machine guns. The good stores in Cozumel are all gone. I remember the days of Venetian, Milano, Effy, etc. And the friends we were with ... Lois and I were walking ahead of Bob and Fred. You couldn't tell the men were really with us. A man actually grabbed Lois' arm and tried to pull her into a store. Grand Cayman is still a really nice place to go but the two Mexican stops ruin it. I wish they would get rid of Mexico (both stops) altogether and just go to Grand Cayman, Castaway Cay of course and a day in Belize. We loved Belize when we were there last year on Celebrity. So I think we'll be sticking with Eastern Caribbean on Disney. Pretty much everybody I talked to on the cruise said Cozumel has really changed and they were in no hurry to ever come back and said Costa Mayo was worthless as a stop.

Food and service was excellent on the Fantasy as usual!!!!

The holiday decorations were fantastic ... understated but soooo beautiful!

Glad to read your review. We are on the Fantasy Western Caribbean March 30th. I hope that Castaway Cay will be warm enough by then! I have already been thinking of staying on the ship for Costa Maya since we will be in the vicinity for at the end of December. Might also stay on board in Cozumel.

We will be at the quiet pool in a few days!!!! We have a baby and this time it is just me, my Mom & baby so that's the place for us.

Last month we used the larger pool. We also had to older kids with us. They like the poolside games and all the action.

I arrived at the BC yesterday :cheer2: The resort is stunning for the holidays and I have a beautiful garden view CL room.

Wide awake at 4 am due to the uk/us time difference lol

Thank you to everyone who contributes to this thread, although I don't post often I really appreciated all the info and even though its my first stay here its like I'm returning 'home'.

Sad to say we are leaving for the airport in less than an hour. We have had a wonderful 11 days here at YC. The weather has been near perfect. And we have had a great room with great view. Hope to be back this time next year!

Morning, everyone! We're on our way to Hollywood Studios, via the Friendship Boat. Yesterday's quick recap: we had a wonderful day at MK! We got there at rope drop, rode Dumbo and the Great Goofini (actually rode it twice in a row without having to get out...that's how uncrowded it was at opening!). Had lunch at Be Our Guest. Lunch was good, but dessert was fantastic! They told us they use the desserts for both the QS lunch and TS dinner, so that explains why they were SO awesome for a quick service meal.

Crowds have been very low. The longest we have had to wait was 30 minutes for Enchanted Tales with Belle and Arial's ride. When I get to a real computer, I'll have to tell you the story of our experience with Enchanted Tales with Belle. ;)

We had dinner at Via Napoli, which unfortunately did not go so well, but whatever...we will have many other dinners this week. And hey, we're still at Disney!!!

I haven't had a chance to figure out how to post pictures to the board yet, but I hope to have a chance to do the research soon! Happy day, all!

What a great split! We did the same split this past May, but in reverse.

Online check-in or regular check-in?

We will be arriving around 7 pm this Friday do you think it will be a long wait? I want to make sure we have a daybed since we are a party of five and my only request is a full balcony. So should I wait to check-in at the hotel or would I be in for a long wait in line?

Posted this last night and it seems to have vanished. We just booked Feb.2-9 BC CL for my little ones bday. He will turn 7 that week. Some of you know we were there 3 weeks ago and on our second day my MIL passed away and we had to head home. Since we got home our little one has been asking when we could return. We told the kids maybe next November but the 6 year old is having such a hard time processing his grandmothers death that we thought returning to "finish" his dream trip may help. We will surprise the kids with the trip Christmas morning. Any ideas for making this trip extra special for them or for the surprise announcement? I made an ADR for yachtsman for his birthday because he LOVES that place ( he is NOT into character meals at all, we found that out after chef mickeys and tusker house this last trip). He kept telling us that the characters were messing up his meal, for pictures---lol.

We are doing the same split in a couple weeks here- we love both resorts!:)

Could someone confirm if there is wi-fi in guest rooms at the YC? I know they've been adding wi-fi access but I wasn't sure how far along the project was. Thank you!

OK, first a disclaimer and then I'll share my favorite spot at SAB. The disclaimer is that SAB is no question my favorite pool on property. And our boys are ages 5, 12 and 13, so we're really on-the-go. I don't usually expect to relax on vacation with the boys, but we have a ton of fun and once in a while there are a few relaxing moments! One of those is at the kiddie pool and slide at the base of the pirate ship, overlooking the lake. I can't link to my SAB thread from my phone, but there are some photos of that area on the front page. We've never seen loungers there, but it's uncrowded and easy to see the entire pool and slide from one spot. I've also noticed the lifeguard on duty there always seems to politely enforce the rules, meaning good behavior from all swimmers in that area. Just love that part of SAB!

And photos:

Hi all!

Two exciting things....

1. We are booked for April 2013. Sadly we won't be at the BC, but we have 9 nights booked in a Royal Guest room at POR. I can't wait to take DP's nephew (9yo), who's never been! It's been a while since I've seen WDW through a child 1st timer's eyes! Never fear though, DP and I agree that the next time we go on a solo trip...it'll be BC all the way!

2. I (finally) uploaded all my pics of the VP Nantucket Suite we were magically upgraded to in August! I put them on the thread for the BC Deluxe Rooms and Suites. Here's the link....enjoy!
