Oh, Just A Few GALLONS of Pixie Dust! - A July/August 2012 TR

Yes please explain the Everest Bell thing. I touched those marbles! Now you have me worried. Was I not supposed to??Haha

Booo for the crazy long lines! It's been so long since I've been to WDW in the busy season, I kinda forgot that ToT could possibly have a long line!

YES. Everest Bell Syndrome totally need to be made a thing, like Post Disney Depression. At least with those beads, they're only obnoxious when some kid decides to rub their hands on them really fast.

That candy is so cute! Even if it doesn't taste that great... I'm a sucker for a cute package.

Great update, and yes I completely agree that those marbles are cursed, but aren't quite as annoying as the Everest bells.

Oh, and on an off topic note my magical ribbons arrived a couple of days ago!!!! I wanted to thank you so much for letting us know about them. I ordered mine the same day I read about your Donald bow :) and I have to say I am absolutely in love. They are just so cute!!

Will you please explain this!:
I would never touch these beads because they have been cursed with the Everest Bell Syndrome. (You totally know what I'm talking about.)

No... as a matter of fact, I totally DON'T know what you're talking about... and after googling it and getting no help from Google... I'm a little upset that I don't know what that means or where that's from.

(See below.)

Oh, it's just a joke. I made it up. You know like the bells in line for Everest? If one person rings the bell, everyone has to ring the bell? The marble doors are exactly like that. The sound isn't quite as obnoxious, but it has the same effect. I was recently talking about the Everest bells so I figured yall would get it. Sorry. :flower3:

Boo is right! Haha. Yeah, we were pretty surprised about the lines so early in the morning! Clearly DHS was not the place to be that morning! We were glad to at least get to ride RNRC though! No trip is complete without it!

Hahah, I'm so glad you get it. It DOES need to be a thing! Yeah, they're not nearly as bad as the bells, but they can still be super obnoxious! :rotfl: Another example would be the honey walls in the Winnie the Pooh queue! (Although, I admit that I always have to play with those. :rolleyes1)

I know! Well, I had one of Anna's gummy bears and it was pretty good, as far as gummy bears go. It's funny though, they sell a lot of regular candy, but in the cute boxes, it's all weird stuff! One of these days I'm definitely going to buy the monorail one though. :thumbsup2

Thank you! Hahah, they are! Yeah, they really aren't nearly as bad as the bells, but you know when one person starts with them, it's a chain reaction!

AHHH really?! That's so exciting! Which ones did you get? I ordered some new ones last week but they probably won't come until January or February. I'm so glad you like them!

I got some of the mini bows, I got Donald, goofy, Pluto, Mickey, and daisy.

Oh nice! I love those! I love that the Goofy one has a little patch. :cutie: I want the Daisy one, too, to match my Donald one, of course. There will actually be a Magical Ribbon coming up really soon in my TR! Hahha, hooray.

The Goofy bow is my absolute favorite one I got, partly because of the patch :) I have to keep myself away for that website for now, otherwise I know I will spent far to much money. But I'm pretty sure that eventually I will probably end up buying more....

I get it now !I must not be smart enough haha! That is true!! That did happen with us!

You're beautiful and I miss you and I can't wait to see you again. (I do realize that is something someone would typically say to their significant other...
but that's just how I feel about that place.)

I have said that a time or two about a far 'less' resort. I have been whining - to myself, not out loud - about not seeing our big Pop Christmas tree this year.

When we were getting in our limo, both my flip flops decided to come loose and one of them fell off completely! :scared1: I had to just pray it didn't fall out of the super stretch in transit. (Thankfully it did not!)

Stressful. ::yes::

I love all those clever candy boxes, however, I feel like the candy is all slightly icky. I mean, I would just LOVE the "Please Stand Clear of My Chocolate" one, but the candy is like chocolate covered nut clusters or something. Well thanks but no thanks? The one Anna got actually had gummy bears in it. Random, but she got it for the box alone.

I wish they would make those as tin boxes.

And, I am all about the nuts, so nut clusters would thrill me! ;)

Aww yeah, it's precious! I love all the details. So awesome. I totally get what you mean though. This was the second time I ordered some, but I still have more I want! I'm glad she only opens for short periods of time, otherwise I'd probably be tempted to spend all my money on there! :lmao:

I get it now !I must not be smart enough haha! That is true!! That did happen with us!

Oh good!! Hahaha don't worry, it's not a matter of being smart! It's not like you're required to remember every detail of the TR hahaha. :)

I totally understand! I love the values, too! The next time I see BLT will be from afar or just for a visit! :sad2:

It was! Eek!

GOOD POINT! That would make so much sense.

Hahahha well then that's perfect for you! :rotfl:

The One Where the Spirit of Norway Was Sought-After

August 2, 2012

We had accomplished all our Future World goals earlier in the week, (it's so different when there's no Test Track… I'm SO excited for it to open back up), so we were able to head straight to World Showcase.

To beat the heat, I suggested that we cut through Mouse Gear and exit out the door closest to Test Track. (Or something else that doesn’t make me sound like I’m obsessed with Mouse Gear, even though I am.) After looking around the store again, (oops) we headed out the back door and basically right to Test Track’s rather closed-off entrance. Anna was sure we weren't allowed to go that way. It wasn't roped off or anything, but I will admit it felt like we were committing some sort of Disney crime. Between the construction walls, the fact that (at the time) Test Track looked like a steel prison, and considering there was literally no one around, it was just weird! I did NOT like the way TT looked and I am so glad that it wasn't a permanent thing. It was pretty unwelcoming at the time.

Anyways!!! The whole area of the park was completely abandoned, and I missed the WHOOOOOSH of the cars speeding past above our heads! In keeping with the 'it's spooky because there's no one around' theme, we walked around the bridge outside the abandoned Odyssey building and I really wished I could go inside. I literally know nothing about it. Is it completely empty? I know there's a baby care center but that doesn't seem like the most practical use for that building. I won't lie, it all made me a little sad! I wish they wouldn't just abandon things.

Once again I say… ANYWAYS!!!

We made it to Mexico in record time and managed to stay out of the direct sunlight for a few minutes, so it all seemed to work out.

When we approached Mexico we noticed a small crowd of people gathered on the steps outside the pavilion. I didn't know what was going on until I realized we must have made it JUST in time for World Showcase opening at 11:00! For whatever reason, neither of us even thought about the fact that it was before 11. We were just heading back there like we owned the place.

Before I even knew what was happening, the Mexican cast members were clapping festively and counting down: “Tres! Dos! Uno!”

Suddenly we were some of the first riders of the day on the Gran Fiesta Tour! It's no Toy Story Mania but it'll do!

I actually love that ride! I absolutely adore the Three Caballeros, and I sing their theme song much too loudly while on the ride. (IT’S A SICKNESS!!!)

SDC13732.jpg

Fiesta, HOY! I really, really enjoy saying that. Party today, yall. (Complete with musically talented skeletons. Because really, American parties are severely lacking in the musically talented skeleton department. It’s a dang shame.)

SDC13733.jpg

Donald, the piñata.

SDC13734.jpg

Donald is my favorite. He’s just adorable. I know some people see Donald as being pessimistic or hotheaded, but come on. He acts just like a human. He’s such a real character. Nobody’s perfect, ya know. Everyone gets angry (and not even everyone tries to hide it… curse words and violence and all that jazz). I just find him incredibly real, because he has that impatient side but he’s still so sweet and lovable and seriously adorable! Plus, he has the cutest voice ever. EVER. You can clearly see that I love Donald. I really didn’t mean to go off on a tangent there, but that’s one of the great things about me. (Hahaha.)

After singing ‘The Three Caballeros’ word-for-word at least seven times, we exited our boat (clearly useful information) and headed on out of good ole MEH-HEE-CO.

I took pictures of random things inside the pavilion. (Sorry, they're not great. My camera is scared of the dark.)

SDC13371.jpg

SDC13372.jpg

SDC13373.jpg

Then, to switch things up, I took pictures OUTSIDE the pavilion.

SDC13375.jpg

SDC13376.jpg

SDC13377.jpg

The fact that I am not currently surrounded by palm trees is appalling.

SDC13378.jpg

It was a beautiful day to roam the World (Showcase)!

SDC13379.jpg

We headed on to Norway, but before we ventured too far into troll country, we made a pit stop in the bathroom. Normally I don’t give out this information so freely (facts of life and all) but this was significant because that bathroom smelled AMAZING. Isn't that weird? I mean, I know that the World Showcase had only just opened for the day, but still. You never walk into a public restroom ANYWHERE and expect it to smell GOOD. The wonders of Disney, everyone. (If there was a ‘clapping’ or ‘applause’ smiley, I would insert it here. Picture it.)

After taking several deep breaths in that beautiful smelling bathroom, we went into the Stave church.

SDC13380.jpg

Now, when we went in, it was empty. 30 seconds later, it was completely crowded. Apparently no one actually knew you could go in until we did. (Trendsetters.)

We decided to leave since it had become way too crowded, but I wasn't mad. The Vikings were pretty creepy. Also, after seeing the word ‘Viking’ we couldn't resist singing the Veggie Tales song for like 15 minutes. We're big Veggie Tales fans, I won't lie.

Back to Disney though.

We were really craving some adventure on the high seas, so we headed for the biggest attraction in Epcot: the World famous, one and only Maelstrom!

SDC13385.jpg

Thankfully, the line was on the shorter side. (AKA, it was a walk-on.)

My shoe, once again, decided to fall off while we were getting into the Viking ship! Normally I wouldn't be too worried, but you know how rough the Maelstrom can be.

The trolls weren't really fond of us. Not really sure why. They kept shouting at us and telling us to "DISAPPEAR!"

I mean... if you insist.

Rude.

After we made it out of there alive (JUST BARELY), I started walking toward the exit. Anna told me to wait. She wanted to stay and watch the movie. She thought it might be good.

Well, I don't want to ruin anything for those of you who haven’t had a chance to see it yet, but what an inspirational film. We decided not to stay until the end, as we were moved to tears and didn't want to be disruptive if we had to blow our noses or anything. I will never forget those Norwegian faces... ever.

;)

We walked through the Puffin shop, where we met a much more friendly troll. At least he was outwardly friendly. If we wanted us to disappear, he kept it to himself.

It was in this store that I found out WHY the bathroom smelled so good. They MUST spray the bathrooms with Laila! That is the only explanation.

It was getting closer and closer to our ADR time, so we sat down on a bench facing the lagoon and waited for the rest of the family. Oh man, it was awesome. There was such a nice breeze blowing by and of course we had gorgeous views. Epcot is just creeping on up into my top spot yall!

I will share with you some of those gorgeous views I was telling you about. It’s only fair, after all.

There's that beautiful lagoon.

I SPY... the Land!

SDC13391.jpg

I SPY... a boat!

SDC13392.jpg

I SPY... The Beach Club!

SDC13393.jpg

I SPY... a girl wearing a pink shirt! (I know when to stop. And it's right now.)

SDC13395.jpg

THERE'S A BOAT, JACK!

SDC13394.jpg

Soon enough, we spotted the rest of the family heading our way! Jacob ran at us like we'd been separated for years. Silly boy.

SDC13389.jpg

The rest of the family wanted to enjoy our view for a little while before our ADR, so we sat and caught each other up on our mornings!

Now the question is, where were we eating? Hmm…?

Continued in Next Update

It is always strange when a big attraction is closed. I also am excited for the new Test Track! I will admit I was worried about the refurb (after all, I didn't want it to become the next Journey Into Imagination, meaning they completely ruin a good thing) but Emma's CP roommate, who still works there, went on and said it was awesome.

Yay for riding Maelstrom and the Gran Fiesta Tour!

At the 1/2 marathon I used the best smelling outhouses I've ever experienced. Disney magic I tell you!

I'm back and all caught up! Great TR writing, as usual!

You know, as many times as I've raced to enter World Showcase when it opened, I've never experienced the countdown in Mexico...very cool! I wonder if they do it every day? Because if they do, then, of course, I MUST experience it for myself!

Very pretty views from your bench...I love to take little rest breaks in World Showcase and just soak in the vistas. Great photos!

I love Epcot!

Definitely my favorite park, not for the rides, but for the atmosphere oh and the Food & Wine Festival lol

I love the picture if Jacob running towards you as if he hasn't seen you both for weeks! :)

My guess us that you're going to Biergarten next

Love Epcot in the morning!! Especially the World Showcase right after opening...it's so much less crowded!!! I will have to use the restrooms in Norway next time, haha! I know where you are eating and I can't wait to read about it!!!!

I agree! I know that refurbs are necessary but they stink. I hope if I do get to go to Disney during the spring, it's AFTER Splash opens back up! Hahah. Yeah, so far I've heard great things about the new Test Track! I can't wait to ride it!

I love those two rides! I wish the World Showcase had another ride!

Well that's a shocker! :lmao:

AHHH YAY! I'm so glad! I missed your comments. :goodvibes And thank you so much! You are too kind.

I don't know if they do it every day or not! I imagine so, though! Hahah, hopefully you'll be able to see it!

Thanks! Yeah, we weren't really intending to stop and sit there, but it was a great spot to wait for the rest of the family and the views were wonderful!

ME TOO! It's just marvelous.

I agree. There is something about the atmosphere there that just cannot be beat. Although, I do love the rides as well! :goodvibes

Aww thanks! Hahah yeah, he's precious.

Good guess! Nope, not Biergarten, but something similar(ish)! :thumbsup2

Love Epcot in the morning!! Especially the World Showcase right after opening...it's so much less crowded!!! I will have to use the restrooms in Norway next time, haha! I know where you are eating and I can't wait to read about it!!!!

Me too! I agree, the World Showcase is so much more enjoyable when you can actually see it! Hahahah seriously, you need to go give them a whiff! :lmao: Yes, you do know!!! Hahha.

P.S. Are you ever gonna update your TR again? :confused3

Yay for World Showcase rope drop!!! I love the countdown!

LOL at the bathrooms in Norway!!! :lmao:

Looks like a beautiful Epcot day!!! :goodvibes

Do they do it at each individual country? I really had no idea that happened! Hahah.

Seriously, it smelled AMAZING! :rotfl:

It was a perfect day, for sure!

I too adore the Three Caballeros. Was my favorite movie when I was a kid (Donald obsession began early). It's always a fun ride! And I too sing along loudly.

Donald is just the best ever! Seriously. He has the best voice, the best laugh (like the one he uses in Philharmagic? I die!). Your tangent is okay with me. :thumbsup2

The Maelstrom. Epcot's best ride. :lmao:

Hahahahahaha. There's a boat Jack. Oh Rose. :rotfl2:

Yay for an update !! It is late and I am tired, so I don't have anything exciting to say about it except how cute Jacob looks running up to you. How can that not make you smile ?? I predict you dined at Akershus.
