Magic Goes Texan! Eight Crazy Nights (3/1/2013 Bahamas)

What is everyone planning to do on shore days? We're really looking at this as a relaxing getaway so I'm not trying to overplan everything. Our last DCL trip was Alaska and I felt I needed to have a good idea what we were doing in each port, but this cruise seems much more laidback.
At Castaway Cay our daughter wants to do the stingray experience and I figured we would just relax the rest of the time.
For PC, DD and I are going to WDW, while DH goes to Kennedy Space Center. We've spent A LOT of time at Disneyland, so I thought Epcot and Animal Kingdom would be the best use of our time as far as experiencing something different.
Our time in Key West is so short I'm kind of at a loss as to what to do. Anyone who's been there before have any ideas? DD will be 8.

We loved the Old Town Trolley last time we were in Key West! It was a great, inexpensive way to see the entire island and travel between the best points of interest. Look into buying tickets ahead of time on the Old Town Trolley website; you can probably get a discount. I think when we bought ours two Februarys ago, it was 1/2 price for kids!

We are Mark, Darlene, DS Finn (age 5 during cruise) & DS Keats (will be 2) from Toronto.

We booked KFO and are looking forward to cruising from Galveston, although the logistics have been much harder than Port Canaveral or even Port of Los Angeles (direct flights are expensive and to IAH only).

Made full payment a couple weeks back and booked flights this morning. Flying in to IAH on Wed. Feb. 27. Planning to spend a night in the Houston area to visit the sites (zoo, kids' museum & NASA - looking for other suggestions) and a pre-cruise night in Galveston.

Rental car is a nightmare (no where to return in Galveston).

We just earned Gold Castaway Club this year. We have only been on the Magic & Wonder (Caribbean twice, Bahamas, Med. & Mexican Riviera).

Looking for a pre-cruise email pal for our 4yo DS (he turns 5 in January).

WeLcOmE!!!! :-)

Anyone interested in a group brunch at Palo?

What a fun idea! This is so not my husband's cup of tea, but I would definitely join in. Or maybe we can get a group of ladies together for the Palo tea?

Hello Everyone!

I am so excited about our very first cruise in march. My husband and I are giving this as a gift to our girls, 2 and 7, for Christmas. It will also be my daughter 8th when we go. If anyone has any tips for the trips, ideas on how to surprise the girls or information on how to participate in the fish extender I would greatly appreciate it. This will also be our first trip to disneyworld!

Thanks!

Hi and WELCOME! So many firsts, how exciting!! I posted a page or two back on details about the Fish Extender, but please let me know if you have any specific questions. So glad you'll be participating! As for WDW, I could fill an entire thread with tips but the best one I can give you is this: Get an "Unofficial Guide" and sign up for the "Lines" app on your smartphone. You will be glad you did!

Hi just booked our cruise and would like to join the fe group. We did this on the Dream last spring and it was alot of fun. Thanks Tracey

We just paid in full today so we could book our activities. We'd like to have our girls (3 and 6) join in on the fish extenders as well, if there's room!

Thank you, I look forward to hearing from you about the fe list.

We are all so excited, as time seems to be going by quickly! :beach:

Just a quick note about Castaway Cay. We were there last March cruising on the dream and the water is still very very chilly and it was incredibly windy so the water was murky.

Who else booked their activities and did their online check-in tonight? Yaaayyyyy!!!

Is anyone who has paid in full able to book activities now? I got a receipt from my travel agent today but when I went into the reservation it says I can start booking activities December 16th. Do I have to have the travel agent book them or do you have to be a multiple Disney cruise line passenger to book activities early? I'd love to do this but am not sure how?!

To book early, you have to have cruised at least once before which makes you a Castaway Club member. :goodvibes So, I know the lowest level (Silver) could book on Nov. 30 at midnight Eastern time (I did), but if it's your first cruise, you have to wait until until the PIF (Paid in Full) date, which is Dec. 16 as you found online.
