Any rumor when 2014 dates come out?

Thanks. Tried NCL Hawaii once -- just the thought of doing another cruise with them makes me shudder.

Our TA just made us a spectacular offer with RCCL for 2014, so we'll probably skip DCL.

Is that a Hawaii cruise on RCI? Twice I have booked a Hawaii repo cruise on RCI, and both times I have moved that reservation to something else. Hopefully I'll get there one of these days!

I was ready to book the Wonder's Vancouver to Honolulu one-way in September 2013 that never materialized. I got tired of waiting for DCL to announce their fall 2013 cruises, and instead moved an onboard booking to the Magic's May 2013 Transatlantic cruise.

This thread is a monster (meaning very long)...so let's please keep it on track with predictions of the 2014 dates only.

Thanks!!!

MJ

Yes, I agree. I keep getting excited about some news every time I see a new post, but they don't have much to do with 2014 dates. I prob. Just caused someone else some excitement haha.

I doubt if there are many more possible predictions than the ones that have been made here already :-) I think Disney should read the thread, though, to see how many are beginning to think about booking with other cruise lines. We are now among that group.

So I am looking at a fall 2014 Dream or Fantasy cruise. For fun I started looking at other lines and the ones I have looked at, Royal Caribbean, Carnival and Princess, only have the first part of 2014 out. Is there really such a rush for DCL to release the entire year?

I don't know about Carnival or Princess, but Royal Caribbean probably won't open bookings in the Caribbean beyond May 2014 until next March.

I don't recall DCL opening new bookings 2 calendar years ahead until they announced the Summer 2010 Baltic cruises in the fall of 2008. I can remember booking the August 2005 Panama Canal cruise in April 2004, the summer 2007 Med cruise in March or April 2006, and the May 2008 Panama Canal cruise in January 2007. I think DCL announced the 2010 Baltic and 2011 Alaska cruises in the fall of 2008 and 2009 to ensure that people booked them LONG before other cruise lines released their Europe and Alaska itineraries the following spring.

This is the last week before the holidays, and the holidays just don't seem like a good time to release the new dates. People are busy with other things than shopping for cruises, and money is tighter than usual. I would think that if Disney doesn't realease the 2014 schedule this week, then they would want to wait until after the new year.

Hopefully before our cruise on Jan 12. This is our first DCL cruise, first cruise ever actually! The planning has been SO MUCH FUN pixiedust:, that as long as the cruise is half as fun as the planning we are hoping to rebook while on the cruise to take advantage of the OBB! :cheer2:

Maybe they are holding out for Black Friday...and they are going to give us really good deals. :rotfl2:

That reminds me of Costa Maya. I can't remember if they have electircity. We got off... we shopped at the cruise ship half circle of stores, watched some dancers and back to the ship. In Ensenada in October we just went to the little store at the foot of the gangway. It felt safe and we didn't see the Mexican Army with their big guns.

they were hit hard by a storm several years back but up and running now. Costa Maya is a great jumping off point for several mayan sites:thumbsup2.

I scratch my head when people indicate they don't get off ship in ports or just wing it, but to each their own.;) I've come to the conclusion that most who book DCL out of PC do so for the onboard experience vs any specific itinerary as long as CC is included. IMO DCL won't alienate many of their core guests fiddling with itineraries as long as the ships stay in original departure point.

:wizard: I do believe DCL will announce the schedule before "wave" period (Jan - March) when other lines have special sales, but offer 10% downpayment option.

Only difference I see today is they added a Christmas picture of Mickey and Minnie. Everything else looks the same :confused3

Mine showed a completely different start up screen on the DCL page yesterday. It's still there today. Maybe different versions go out to different areas. Who knows.

Perhaps DCL is waiting for the financial cliff ...
This is how I'm thinking after taking macroeconomics.

Why can't they just drop their prices? They would fill faster and have more bodies on board spending $$.

I think they may have. The page now says there are 2013 cruises from $399 per person. I don't remember seeing any prices that low before.

Oh I meant from the get go. Why not just offer lower prices from the beginning...?

I think with the popularity the Dream last year that they probably thought the Fantasy would follow and priced point it accordingly. What they are finding out is that there is a plateau for what consumers will pay for a cruise, Disney or otherwise. Especially with airfare increases, as well as hotel and theme park price increases, DCL is slowly outpricing itself and has to adjust accordingly.
