New Blog: Starbucks to Replace the Main Street Bakery at Magic Kingdom

More commercialization was certainly inevitable after things we have been seeing at DTD! It won't be long before we see other commercial restaurants in the parks! :scared1:

I love the idea of Starbucks. It is fantastic in DCA but I do not agree with replacing it the iconic Main Street Bakery.

if the way it was handled at Cali is any indication, this is going to be a very classy establishment combining the Starbucks brand inside, with the Disney bakery items inside; the outside will stay themed, and the number of logos you'll see will be very small indeed.

This is an absolutely terrible idea. There is a Starbucks on every street corner everywhere in the country. Magic Kingdom is supposed to be special and magical. There is absolutely nothing magical about yet another Starbucks.

Well said and I couldn't agree more.

As long as the cinnamon rolls remain Disney, I don't see this as terrible. I would just hope they don't change too much in the facade.

I thrilled because Disney coffee taste like something (sanka) my grsndparents used to drink. REPLACE THE SLUDGE everywhere on the property!

please, oh, tell me please, they are not taking away my cinnamon rolls!!!!!!!:confused3

Exactly how I feel, especially frustrated after health issues for wife caused us to cancel an Aug trip 3 days before going, and then my daughter had an emergency appendectomy, causing us to cancel our rescheduled Nov trip, which we'd be arriving today :(

Close the confectionery, or add a "coffee stand", even announce that main St. bakery will now feature Starbucks coffee, but don't kill a classic, and do NOT commercialize main street. This really saddens me.

I agree. It is very well done. They had Disney Bakery items (so cinnamon rolls will likely stay) and Starbucks bakery items.

The only problem I have with it is that it's super busy ALL the time in DCA! I like my Starbucks but I don't like the crazy long lines to get my cinnamon roll!

To me...a starbucks will seem out of place with the theming of main street. I would hate to see the MK get commercialized by popular franchises...next there will be a Dunkin Donuts next to Tony's! I hardly every disagree with what Disney does because they always seem to find a way of making it right...but I do not agree with this!

anyway there was my 2 cents!!

The Bakery is amazing. To turn it into a Starbucks is a horrible mistake. I think we can all agree that the coffee in DW sucks. Nescafe is just disgusting. That being said, there is no reason for them to change the Bakery. With all of the expansion in Fantasyland they could have easily added a coffee shop.
Hell, serve Starbucks everywhere in the park and charge a little more! But to put it in the Bakery? What were you thinking Disney?

You are going to create massive lines on Main Street for people wanting a decent cup of coffee. The Starbucks food quite frankly is horrible. The food that is currently being served at the Bakery is amazing.

I have always enjoyed going there in the morning for breakfast. The ham, egg, and cheese on a croissant! The cinnamon rolls! The chocolate croissants!

I certainly understand the need to give the people what they want. What the people wanted was a good cup of coffee. Not for Disney to change the quaintness of the Bakery by making it a Starbucks. Put on in Fantasyland. Make some stands like the Dole Whip stand in Adventureland. Leave the Bakery alone.

Agreed!!!

Well screw it, let's replace Cinderella's Royal Table with Chili's

Everyone has wanted an Australia stop in Epcot, so let's get rid of Le Cellier with an Outback.

I cant see Disney going through with this...I work for the company and they always preach upholding the magic and the disney feel...starbucks has nothing like that....mainstreet is suppose to be themed after a 1920 small town...the last time i checked there were no starbucks in the 20's!

I don't think ya'll get it. It won't be a traditional looking Starbucks. Many places carry Starbucks coffee and the only thing that looks Starbucks about it is the cups with the logo. The rest of the store can still be main street themed.

In June, the first of six planned Starbucks locations is scheduled to open at Disney California Adventure park. And more locations are planned at Disneyland park and Walt Disney World Resort (Magic Kingdom Park, Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney’s Animal Kingdom).

The Starbucks locations inside our parks will be designed to fit the theme of their surroundings. At Disney California Adventure park, Starbucks will be located in the Fiddler, Fifer and Practical Café on Buena Vista Street, a place that transports guests to 1920s Los Angeles, when Walt Disney arrived in California and a cup of coffee was the perfect way to jumpstart a busy day. The store’s location plays off the Spanish/Mexican architecture of the period, and baristas will wear 1920s-inspired attire.

The café will serve Starbucks items, including coffee and espresso beverages, Frappuccino® blended beverages, and signature breakfast sandwiches and pastries. Guests also will have their choice of Disney favorites, including signature sandwiches and other items, as well as delicious desserts and sweet treats.

There are a lot of "products" on main street that didn't exist in the 1920's. Should Disney get rid of all of those products and only use products and name brands that existed in the 1920's? That would make no sense. How about a watering hole with tin cups instead of selling bottles of water? It is just a name brand product in a rennovated area. It does not change the atmosphere.

I am looking forward to buying a Starbucks/Disney cup!
