Stateroom # 2009
Disboards = Big Ole Disney Fan
Email = Sorry it wouldn't let me include the email address...
Family = Karen Green DW & Evan Green DH

We just booked for our family of 4. 6 yo girl and 3 yo boy. They ran a kids go free promotion and we couldn't pass it up.

I've been on cruise critic for a while but what is an FE group?

Hi and welcome!

An FE is short for "fish extender"...there is a little hook outside every stateroom that has a metal fish on it. A fish extender is a pocket hanger you hang on the hook so friends and fellow shipmates can leave you messages or goodies inside the pockets. (You can find examples of FE's on etsy.com or ebay. The FE group basically signs up to participate in a gift exchange while on board. During the cruise, you decide when, you leave everyone on the FE list a gift in their FE pockets. The gifts should be pretty small to fit in the pockets and there are FE ideas all over the web and on this site.

Its a lot of fun! I have an FE that has a pocket for each child and they loved checking their pockets for gifts every time we went back to our stateroom. Its like a little surprise waiting for you and can happen at any time!

We did this for the first time on our last disney cruise to Alaska and it was a BLAST! We had over 100 participants because it was the inaugural sailing up there, so lots of FE enthusiasts, and you should have seen the gifts we got! Anything and everything from candy and bookmarks to a pair of gloves for each person in our stateroom! I'll dig out a pic and show you...its a blast! :)

Here's the pic of the FE gifts we got from the Alaska cruise...minus the shirts. Those are from the Friendship Rocks show (put on by the kids.)

So do we know how many we have on the FE list yet?

And anyone have boys around 6-8? My two are always looking for friends onboard!

Hello Everyone!!!!
We just booked for Jan 12 and Jan 18, we're super excited!!!!! My husband and I have a 3 year old daughter and are excited to see if she'll like the oceanear club. She wasn't crazy about flounder reef, but my hubby and I are hoping she'll enjoy the club.

You are booked for 2 back to back? So lucky!! Welcome

We are booked! We live just south of Houston so it was a no brainer to go while the ships are so close!

We were just at Disney World for ten days in December 2011 but we can't wait to go back even for just one day!

We did a Disney Cruise for our Honeymoon many years ago but this will be our three year old son's first cruise.

Welcome! We wanted to do a cruise for our honeymoon but it was just too expensive for us then but ever since they started sailing I've wanted to go! So excited for this one. DD is 4!

Well, I obviously have a lot to learn before the cruise! Fish extenders, door decorations, etc. This is our first Disney cruise for our family of three and would really like to make this trip very memorable for our 9 year old son!

Any advice would be appreciated as well as meeting other families with boys my son's age!

Ok I just joined the facebook page and would love to join the fishextenders group. What all do I need to do?

Nice! My eldest son will be 8 1/2. Maybe we can get him and your son together for a Oceaneer's Club or Lab play date! lol :)

Hi there! I'm the Fish Extender list keeper! Send me a private message or an email (sweetpee_1993@yahoo.com) with the following information:

stateroom #
Disboards username
email address
names of each person in the family, age/gender of kids

For an example, this is what my family's info looks like:

Stateroom # 2111
Disboards = sweetpee_1993
Email = sweetpee_1993@yahoo.com
Family = DW/Kelly, DH/Tracey, DS/Chandler/16 yo, & DS/Brian/15 yo

I'll put you on the email list for the fish extender exchange and email you a link to the Google doc spreadsheet. We will be accepting new additions to the list until December 2nd. After that date what you see on the list is the final headcount to base your gifts upon. There's no set rules for the fish extender exchange. You can make or purchase your own to hang outside your door. You do as many or as few gifts as you'd like to be delivered whenever you wish to make the rounds on the ship. I definitely suggest waiting until after dinner on embarkation day to allow time for any stateroom number changes that may occur to be sent to you. I'll take care of that! :thumbsup2

Welcome aboard!!!! :goodvibes
