Thank you so much for posting this. I had considered staying here at some point but this is an absolute problem for us. We stayed at another hotel with this similar situation and it was awful. Not only was the room not cool enough, we lost the white noise of the fan. I woke up every time. Hopefully they will get enough complaints to fix this.

The cold water in the tub will not transfer much coolness and may actually raise the humidity just a little. Overall, however, it really would not make any significant difference. Even filling the tub with ice cubes would not really change the air temperature in the room...............but whoever takes the first shower of the morning will have some chilly feet as they step into the cold tub!

You can tell the Southerners from the Northerners in this thread. My house is set to 67 year round. In Buffalo, we break out the t-shirts when temps hit 55 degrees and crank the AC when it gets up to 75. Needless to say, the FL humidity kills us so we like to keep our room as cold as possible as well. Disappointed to hear about this as we were looking at AoA for our next trip, but since we travel in September, we may look elsewhere.

I would be sweating at 68 as well. It is November now, and I have the heat on..it is set at 63 lol.

Lol.. As a Floridian I can say that anything below 70 is freezing point for me!!!

I am comfy at 76 - nothing lower!!!

I am always trying to turn off the air conditioning

I read this whole thread and I guess I'm still stuck on the idea of a motion-sensored thermostat. If your thermostat is "smart" or "green" enough to have a motion sensor, shouldn't it also be "smart" enough to be programmed to run during specific hours, even if there is no motion? I know programmable house thermostats do this...no one wants a thermostat that doesn't stay on the temperature you set it to--unless you specifically tell it to change at a certain time. If you had to wake up every night to remind your home thermostat you're still there, you'd be returning that thermostat really quickly.
It just seems strange that Disney can't/won't set the thermostat to stay on between the hours of, say, 10pm and 8am and then switch to the minimum temp (say, 68 ) if no one is there. Maybe their thermostats can't be programmed? But then, why specifically buy thermostats that only work when someone is moving--knowing that people will spend the majority of their time SLEEPING and not moving around the room? I'm interested to hear what anyone else hears back from Disney. Otherwise, we won't be staying at this particular hotel!

We just got back from a 5-night stay in a LM room, and had no complaints. Sure the room was a tad stuffy when we got back after being at the parks, but after a few minutes of the AC on, it was fine! I don't think we even noticed it couldn't be set past 68 degrees. Anyway, just my 2c!

we live in the chicago area and believe it or not, we do NOT have air conditioning!!

we had central air. in our first house and used it way too much!!! electric bill was way too high, the kids running in and out..

wel, our 2nd house, we had built. the builder wanted sssso much extra for central air, we thought.. well, we;ll get it onour own later, for much cheaper.. we never did.

we did buy a couple rom air conditioners to use for the bedrooms, only for sleeping durin tthe hottest times.

well,now we are in a townhouse. same thing. had it built. thought, we'll hire someonw to put it in cheaper...

ony problem the association doesn't ALLOW roo air condtioners.. !! this last summer esp.. it was REALLYY hot!!!

but, youknow what, every time we think of speding the money for a central air system we think. hey! there's only a couple weeks where it's REALLY needed, and that's another trip to disney!!!

actually, hubby and I get in at least one fight on our disney trips (well, at least ONE fight about the thermostat, that is)

now that we finally have AIR!! he still argues with me about using it!!! he likes the room about 72. after a whole day in florida sun, I would like it a mite colder thatn that

Some of you wouldn't get along with my mom, lol. She loves things hot.

68 or lower probably wouldn't bother me. I like things really cool, probably cooler than at least my parents, so much so it's like a recurring theme. 68 degrees does seem a bit too high to not let people go lower.

I agree with you! We live in Indiana and at 55 I crack open a few windows. I keep the house at 65 in the winter and 70 in the summer. Being too warm is oppressive to me.

I said it about 5 pages ago and I will repeat myself - the cheap fix for those stuffy rooms is a ceiling fan.

We live in the deep south and I keep my ac/heat set about 65 year round. I never turn on the heater unless we're expecting a freeze and then only because the humidity makes it feel so much colder. When I lived in Telluride, at 32 degrees we only wore a long sleeved t shirt with jeans but 32 degrees here feels more like 15-20 degrees did there. Unfortunately, the heat is the same way. My ex inlaws lived in Uvlade, TX. 100 degrees there was fine but here it's almost unbearable.

We were just there and used the balloon tied to the back of the chair trick. If the breeze is blowing on it, it does the movement just fine. We also had a night light.

we tried the balloon trick and it didn't work.. maybe the night light helped to reflect the balloon moving so the sensor could see it???

- Disney needs ceiling fans in ALL rooms (I mean cmon, $35 would solve most of this problem)

- Disney needs SMART thermostats that like others have said, can be easily bypassed for 24 hours or stay on/active at night (even if you want to just run the fan to have air circulating... this didn't work)

- Disney is one place you want to get a good night's sleep so you can get up and go to the parks and spend money. If Disney looked at it that way, maybe they'd do something about it

The last two nights of our trip we stayed at pop century. We had the thermostat set at 68 just like we did the 5 previous nights at AoA. We sweat to death on top of the sheets at AoA and slept comfortably cool under the sheets and blankets at Pop.

Honestly- I would have been at the front desk every five minutes. There is no way I can deal with sleeping in over 66. I keep my therm at 65 at night year round. And I keep the fan on over our bed! At BLT this September I kept the thermo on 65 the whole evening as well.

well get ready folks... this is the NEW resort... so this might be the new norm to come to all rooms (though some with ceiling fans will be tolerable to some degree)

Or it could be a glitch in a new resort that Disney has yet to acknowledge or address.

I'm sure they are aware of it and if it is a glitch why not fix it?!?! Maybe if enough complain they will change it, but as I think someone said earlier maybe all units/rooms will be going to this system to save energy. If we ever stay there again we will bring a fan.

This thread is scaring me! We leave for AoA in 3 weeks and I cannot sleep unless my room is freezing. On top of already being one of those people who keeps their house around 63-65...I am on new medicine that causes me to have horrible hot flashes at night. We sleep with a floor oscilating fan running and a ceiling fan on low (that mostly just keeps the air moving in our room). I have a feeling I am going to be on the phone with the front desk. Ugh.
