New Park???

I'm finding it funny that all of the arguments here could have been easily avoided if people would do what they were supposed to do and CITE their sources. Anyone remember MLA essay format from high school? The same must apply for debates. Got info? Back it up with a citation, or else you're just parroting rumour.

As for the fifth park...there's just no way it'll happen in the near future. As PPs have mentioned, the economy is bad, attendance is low, and Americans don't do the whole two-week holiday like people from other countries. It's just not the right move for Disney right now.

Disney Imagineers are constantly drawing up plans for new parks, rides, shows, hotels, everything. Why else would they be hired and paid? However, only the ones that are sensible for the company's current situation actually get used. Unless I see an official press release, I have no reason to believe it's actually going to happen. :confused3

Doesn't mean we can't speculate in a civil manner, though! :)

Tonka's Skipper cited "David Gagenback who was big in the originail design of WDW(he even has his name on a window on Main st)."

I assume Tonka's Skipper means Disney Imagineer Dave Gengenbach (not Gagenback). Yes, Gengenbach has a window on Main Street.

But Dave Gengenbach left the company in 1978 (when WDW had only one park open) and died in 2000, so he's probably not source for current news about the possibility of a 5th park.

I happen to share that opinion expressed by Tonka's Skipper that WDW needs to add capacity. However, the cost-effective way to add capacity is by prudent expansions at the existing parks, allowing those existing parks to absorb more guests comfortably -- without having the initial and ongoing overhead of a 5th park (all new infrastructure, parking, buses from resorts, etc.)

The most telling case against a 5th park is that Disney's Animal Kingdom opened in 1998, there has been no movement on another park since then.

Dave died in 2001, right down the street at home, I went to the life celibration service at the church.

He was a consultant for Disney after 1978 and was often used to bounce ideas off of, when we wasn't building airplanes in his basement, so he was indeed a source.

He was senoir Disney imaginneer on the design and biulding of the monorail.

He was handed the plans for the Space rockets 3 months before the opening and was told to get it built., he did. He and his 2 sons and wife actually put the final paint on the Space rockets the night before the MK opened.

So the point is he was there talking parks 4 and 5 all the way back then!

Since the few here have their oipinions.I dont expect this to be accepted.

I dont care, but now you know.

I am sorry, my typing and spelling is not good, old fingers.

Y'all don't have to be jerks about it! I was simply asking a question regarding what my mother had told me :'-(

Don't take it personally. Some people just have no sense....or manners. :{

That's part of the reason I do not post as often any more. Too much sarcasm

1). If you are going to post, how about spellchecking? The writing in this thread has been ridiculously poor.

2). Hasn't this dead horse been beaten enough?
