This may be a silly question... But I'm soo picky about desserts and I don't think I'm going to be happy with the dessert selection at mama melrose's. do you think they would let me have the dessert from the kids menu? Probably not.. But I figured its worth asking...

I don't see why they wouldn't. It's just dessert. If you're paying OOP, it's better for them than you not ordering dessert at all. If you're on the DDP then it shouldn't matter at all - it's not like you're a kid trying to get an adult (more expensive) dessert covered under the plan.

Just got back from Disney! Thought I would try a "few" cupcakes on my trip.

French Toastie Cupcake- DTD, BabyCakes Bakery inside of Pollo Compano
This was awesome! You can't tell it is "everything free" LOL I thought I tasted some butter in the icing- but there is none!

Strawberry Cupcake- BW Bakery
This was OK. Tastes like strawberry shortcake.

Oreo Bonbon- BW Bakery
Can't say I cared for this one. The Oreos were soggy. The flavor was blah.

Cotton-Top Tamarin- AK, Kusafiri Bakery
Very good. The icing was sweet, but not sickening sweet. The cake was moist. Even the Tamarin pop was good. I don't like white chocolate, for some reason this didn't taste like white chocolate- it kind of tasted like a hard frosting, but not too sweet.

Maple Bacon Cupcake- Poly, Capt Cook's
I didn't try this one (I'm a vegetarian) but I had to snap a pic!! Bacon on a cupcake!

PB Cupcake- BW Bakery.
A story goes along with this one. I stopped in the bakery and didn't see the PB cupcake that was on the cupcake crawl list, so, I asked the CM. He said he didn't think they made them anymore but he would ask the baker where I might be able to find one. The baker then asked someone there, is the PB in the fridge? Yes it was. He proceeded to make me one from scratch!!!! After he was through making it, all the bakers applauded
BTW- IT was INCREDIBLE. VERY PButtery! Not pasty PButtery- very creamy PButtery.

Spiced Apple Cupcake- CR, Contempo Cafe
This was good b/c it was different.

AND- since DH and I walked over to the Outer Rim Lounge to eat the cupcake- I HAD to wash it down with this!
Godiva Liqueur Flight garnished with Godiva Liqueur-infused strawberries

No pics but I also had:

Vanilla Caramel Cupcake- Karamell-Küche, Germany.
OMG- that was PURE sugar!!!! I wasn't crazy about it.

Coffee Mocha Cupcake- BW Bakery
VERY good. Good mocha flavor.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Cupcake- DHS, Starring Rolls
You can smell the PB as soon as you pick up the cupcake! The inside was very pasty and fudgy. It was like eating a spoonful of PB fudge.


Believe it or not- after all of this cupcake tasting, THIS ended up being my favorite goody!!! The ganache was delicious!

BTW- When I got home I weighed myself......I LOST 3 lbs

Candied bacon on a cupcake is DELISH! We have a local bakery that does French toast cupcakes with a piece of candied bacon on top and the combo of sweet and salty is yummy.

I love the cake part, which usually isn't very much, then throw away the sugar frosting, so stopped getting them. They make them beautiful, so I guess that's why they cost so much.

I agree. I am a cake person. The icing on some of the cupcakes I posted are whipped cream, not sweet at all, but the cake part is like sponge cake. so, I based the taste on the flavor of the whipped cream. I wasn't crazy about the sponge cake. But, the Cotton-top Tamarin cupcake from the AK was good. The cake was dense.

I had to cut all of these in half just to get to the cake. I can't start at the top and work my way down to the cake. I would be sick by the time I got to it. LOL

Another thing that is important about cupcakes and cakes- IMO, they need to be eaten at room temp. I think the flavor of the cake and the icing is much better that way. I don't like cold, hard icing and cake
