Banned From Disney?

This happened a while ago. A cast member was caught shop lifting. He lost his job at our store and was told he would never be admitted to WDW again.

Here is the catch. He owns a large share of DVC. What happens here????

When I read the title of this thread I envisioned a sex offender molesting children in one of the attractions, or someone waving around a handgun or something like that.

I can understand losing your rights to the park for that day but permanent expulsion???

So, What else can get you banned for?

In the case of a DVC owner that is real estate that is owned by the party who has been tresspassed. Disney cannot tresspass a person from their own property so the restriction would exclude the DVC resort(s) where that person owns property.

Disney will cooperate in the prosecution of criminal events. Simply having a gun is not a crime as long as you have the proper carry permits and registration. All firearms are to be declared prior to entering the parks and placed in Orange County Sherriff's on site gun safe. Threatening people with said firearm will get the prompt attention of security and OC sherriff.

Unfortunately Disney is unable to ban child molesters on principle; even registered offenders until they do something that gets the attention of security. If they do anything inappropriate, they can be tresspassed.

Disney takes the comfort and safety of all their guests seriously and will not tolerate guests who infringe on either. They will make every attempt to work with individuals who are escalating to a dangerous or uncomfortable situation until the line is crossed that the situation cannot be calmly and quitely contained. Being disorderly (and not just those who are intoxicated,) causing an altercation, even excessively unruly children can be ejected from the park or other programs. This may not always result in being given a tresspass warning but the incident is documented.

Disney has a database complete with pictures of tresspassed persons. Security is given a notice about the incident and all security personel are supposed to review the database on a regular basis. It is difficult to remember every single person's face so it would be possible that these people could get on property as long as they aren't recognized.

The finger scanner would be a very poor tool to use to keep people out of the parks beacuse its not a finger print.

It's a math algorhtym based on the imagery of the finger.. that is very loose and the way it's currently done, it's only unique to about one in 1000 people. So.. it wouldn't work to identify previously banned people.

I will have to tell me DD this. She always has a fit about her fingerprint being saved. She says it is unconstitutional. Sometimes a wonder where she comes from. It is one finger at DW, oh and Universal.

I agree with the person who said that banning people who did something in their childhood or teen years is a little harsh. And some of the things that get you banned don't seem to warrant a lifetime ban, I think a 10 year ban would be more appropriate.

When I was doing the College Program in 1997, I worked on the WDW Railroad. I was a conductor (best job at WDW as far as I'm concerned! ).

Anyway most of the engineers were older men, most had been train enthusiasts for their whole lives, retired, moved to Florida, got a job at DW, and worked their way up to engineer. It was not an easy job to get...

There was this one weird local kid who kept dressing up like an engineer and hanging around the train platform. Guests would ask him questions and he just started acting like he worked there. Each time he was asked to leave, but he would show up a week or so later.

After 3 or 4 times of this, he was banned and we never saw him again.

We are not so far away from technology solving this - companies are already producing face detection systems that recognize faces and send them texts to alert them to discounts / promotions.

I wonder if Disney has looked in to that? Not sure they would tell anyone as these systems has opponents.

Photo's are a great idea...so long as the banned person isn't smart enough to lay down some heavy amounts of cash for drastic plastic surgery.

All a person would have to do is either grow or cut their hair, grow or shave facial hair(for men & a few women), and wear glasses or shades. You look the opposite of what you did when the picture was taken. If you get someone else to buy you a ticket and act like you actually belong there, you would probably be ok.

Actually, it is much worst.... You are supposed to declare it and lock it up in their safe once you come on to property. Because Disney (and Universal) are BATFE FEL properties (exempting them from Florida Statue 790.251) you can't even have the firearm in your vehicle that is parked on any Disney (or Universal) parking lot. BATFE FEL is a federal license to use and maintain explosives. They will ask you to lock it up in their safe, if you don't they will toss you. No muss no fuss, good buy.

14 and high seems like a ripe combination for doing stupid things. Honestly, I wonder what goes through someones head when they decide to smoke in public? Do they really think that no one else can smell it? It has a pretty distinctive aroma that most people can easily detect.

Well I live in california where you cant go to a concert or other public places even walking down the street without seeing or smelling weed smokers

I have a friend who snuck in after MK was closed. He used a kayak and paddled in to Tom Sawyer Island. He was eventually caught and banned for life.

I knew someone who had an injury from a roller coaster at a small park, and had sued and settled - but as part of the settlement she can't return to the park.

Disney has invested in software that does that. They are one of the customers that one of the companies we were looking at touts, and for this reason.

And it catches hair cuts. It won't catch significant facial changes (plastic surgery or puberty - but I suspect they aren't looking for people who pulled childhood pranks, but people who are a significant liability to have in the parks). It isn't 100% yet, but its pretty good. (Its also used by the TSA, but I can't remember the company).

My question is how do they now it is a banned person when making a reservation. So many people have the same names. You don't give you social security number when booking a reservations and if you were a kid when you did something - I would assume as an adult you have a different address.

I spoke with a atty friend of mine about this a few years ago.

His opinion was that Disney doesn't spend alot of time trying to catch you sneaking on property or stopping you from staying at a resort.

What is will do is if your cuaght on property after being banned, it can raise the level of criminal charges againist you.

Same way how all those High School Reunion people find you to attend your reunion, even though you may have moved multiple times and stuff...
