I (we) love this place, I'm already putting things in the memory bank for next time.
We haven't done alot, Top of The Rock tomorrow, the last two days visibility has been at 0%
We did see Stevie Wonder today though, not something you see every day :thumbsup2
This hotel is awesome, great location, very safe, I haven't been anywhere that I feel uneasy at.

Today we also did The Met museum, the museum of natural history and very briefly Central Park, then F.A.O Schwarz.

Flying to LA tomorrow night :(
The upside? Disneyland...my happy place ::yes::

Wow brings back some great memories from our trip last year ( almost to the day). Enjoy !

Sounds like you've had an awesome time in NYC, definitely the one place I most want to visit - couldn't swing it time wise or $ wise for this trip but next time I am soooooo there! Good to hear you've felt safe there, have been toying with the idea of DD and I going on our own in a couple of years for a girl's trip.

Looking forward to reading all about it in your TR.....Glad you enjoyed NYC.

Have fun at DL.

I knew you would fall in love with NYC, just as our family has. It is weird how safe you feel in that city but you just do.

It just gets under your skin, that place. I'm excited to go to Paris and London and see if they have the same affect as NYC has had on us. :rotfl:

Another NYClover here :wave2: Doubletree is a great location, I really wanted to get a photo with the police in the 'Fashion District' as their uniforms say that on their arm.

Does anybody come to New York City and not love it?
We're currently sitting in Bryant Park on a perfect day, having done Rockefeller this morning, perfect view of Central Park :goodvibes
Managed to condense our luggage a bit and will shop a little more in LA, I've been holding back ;)
Already thinking of the next trip, DH wants to visit here in the winter :goodvibes

We did 2 weeks for Christmas and New Year a few years ago. Busy busy and cold but oh so beautiful so I'd definitely recommend going back for winter :D

I'm wondering about how busy it will be. We've previously been in September and it was moderately busy both times. I can only imagine the week before Christmas is full on. I wonder what the days after Christmas will be like.

OzDisneydreamin, about how cold, can you give me an example? I've bought all the gear but it's hard to actually get my head around what we will encounter.

Ahhh....I recognise the signs of this sickness. It's the TRAVEL bug! :thumbsup2

The crowds were insane but they did settle down right after Christmas day. It is the only time I have visited so I cannot compare with any other time. It was fun to be there. The atmosphere was magical. The weather was cold but dressed in layers and thermals on the bottom half made it ok. The only complaint I had was it was so hot in the stores etc and being the Mum I got stuck with everyones jackets, gloves, scarves etc. The kids never complained about being out in the cold. One winter Christmas has me sold. Walking around listening to carolers singing 'winter wonderland' sipping on hot chocolate is so right and a 35c hot Christmas is so wrong lol !! We had some snow but not enough to hinder us at all. I would love to go back again. I just :lovestruc NYC

hi

we've been twice over Christmas. it's cold- between -2 to 5 degrees. beanies gloves and thick jackets

in 2010 -2011 we were there during the Boxing Day blizzard. never seen anything like it. it was -10. the roads airports and trains all shut down for three days. they say it was once in 50 years.

but you know what, we still got out there made snowman in Central Park, little buddy did snow angels, ice skating and tobogganing in the park

the shop windows and decorations are beautiful

the radio city music hall Christmas spectacular

it is something to experience. man I can't wait to go back.

you cannot help but love it.

Yep although we loved WDW I can't see us getting back there, but definitely hope to get back to NYC someday! 4 days is just not enough. :(

I totally heart NY, was very grumpy getting on the plane, so grumpy in fact the young air hostie I encountered when we couldn't fit our bags in the overhead felt my wrath.
I despise airlines that charge for baggage, but I pay, and I put a big suitcase in the checked baggage. But I really hate people not checking baggage or paying but carrying 3 bags onto the plane and storing it in the overhead compartment :furious:
We ended up having to change some stuff around in our bags on the plane because they had to gate check one of our bags!
Some of the carry on size bags are ridiculous!! :furious:
I feel like tweeting Delta! So angry! Then at the end of the flight I had to watch people removing their 3 bags from the overhead, pretty sure you're supposed to store your personal bag under the seat in front yeah?

We were on a totally full southwest flight and we saw some customers get on with carry on luggage, a large hiking backpack, a regular messenger size bag, a shopping tote and a plastic bag with burger king cheeseburger and some bottled water etc. I was like are you kidding me?? 2 checked and 1 carry on is the limit, not 3 carry on and a personal item and some shopping. She was so upset when they made her hold all of it except 1 bag in the overhead locker and one under the seat in front :)

Same flight another passenger had a carry on suitcase and backpack and super large puffy jacket and knitting bag (?? I thought knitting needles werent allowed??) and a cooler bag from which she pulled out a kebab, a salad and some kind of cake. This was a 1 hr flight from vegas to lax !! They also made her hold all of it throughout the flight except 1 bag overhead and 1 under the seat.

I was gratified the flight attendants forced them to make room for others but i was like omg!! How inconsiderate were these people taking that much luggage on this flight!!

Seriously, how hard is it for the airline to police this sort of thing- they should check everyone as they go through the gate and make them pay. I get really angry about this too, as far as I am concerned that space is mine.

Just woke at Marriott LAX, I paid $96 for this hotel and it is worth every cent.
A shuttle picked us up right outside the terminal, bought us straight here, we ordered room service and went to sleep, the room is very nice and clean and they have late checkout (as in 1pm)
I highly recommend it.
It's Columbus day here on Monday, wondering how that will effect the crowds at DL? Any ideas?

Meeee.....:confused3

Hated it with a passion in 2008.... Was there in December, accom was horrible, and I guess was tired and a tad off when I was there.....willing to give it another go, but in the near future....

Glad your having a great time:woohoo:

Hey, give us a wave, we are at the raddison next door......not as classy as the Marriott but worth the $63 a night....watching the jumbos come in as we speak thru my window:thumbsup2

Columbus day shopping.....awesome sales...catch the shuttle bus to manhattan beach Macy's, they stop outside your door every half hour, buy the ticket from bell services

This also happened to us. We were an hour late leaving MCO and got to LAX just in time for our flight home.

We were stopped at the plane door and told we had to check in our carry on luggage (all 5 of us) as there was no room. It ended up that we needed personal items out of the carry ons during the flight but of course couldn't get to them. It made for a very uncomfortable flight home.

So, our first day in LA today, I do love The shopping here :rotfl2:
I hadn't bought a lot up until today, and I hit it, hard.
Coach bag and wallet, Nike runners, a dress, GAP jeans, 4 tops and a bracelet.
Strangely, this trip I haven't out on a lot of weight, but I noticed where I have put it on is different, maybe because of the constant walking we've been doing, and the types of bad food we've been eating.
Back to healthy eating when we get home :upsidedow
Also, strangely, last night at JFK I had ropy for a trolley for all our luggage, swiped my credit card in the trolley thing, transaction went through for $4.88AUD.
This afternoon checking my online banking a transaction has gone through in Malvern, Pennsylvania at a vending machine for $1.18, never been to Pennsylvania in my life and this was the only time this trip i've used my card apart from being a security deposit in hotels :crazy2: I'm willing to bet my card was skimmed at that damn airport :furious:
Sadly our trip is coming to a close, we checked in at the Fairfield Inn tonight, have a Disneyland view off the front balcony, and the hotel is very clean and a good location, we're very happy with it.
We're already planning another trip, it's in the very early stages, nothing set in stone as yet, but I couldn't come to the USA and not visit Disneyland, it's my happy place, and pretty sure my DS feels the same way, he wanted to head over there tonight.
