DVC Member PAP Special Pricing - Update Post 133

Just upgraded our regular DVC AP's to the new DVC PAP's at DHS this morning. Upgraded mine and DH's AP's that expire in December, and DS's AP that expires in June. Cost us $44 to upgrade the 3 passes. It was very easy, and the cast member knew exactly what to do. Took 5 minutes. FYI, these were DVC AP renewals which cost $385, which is less than the $399 price of the new DVC PAP's.

Yea! this is exactly what we are hoping to do next week when we arrive. Thank you for posting!

Thinking of getting a PAP for my wife and was wondering if I can pick it up for her using my member card and her ID or must she be present? Was thinking of running over before dinner to International Gateway...

I just got a regular AP back in August... Wish I could upgrade somehow... Oh well...

We have bought the regular Annual pass with DVC pricing, and each person had to be there with ID.

While this is true, they are still missing out by not allowing the "free upgrade." We just got our DVC APs at the beginning of September. We have never gotten the premiums and were actually wondering how much we would use the extra benefits. We will be back down in December. When I saw this deal and thought there was a chance for an upgrade, I told my husband to get ready to add an extra trip to focus on the water parks since we have never been. Also, how much more would we justify in souvenirs because we could save 20%, lol? We don't buy APs every year, only when scheduling works, so I'm not interested in buying a voucher for next year. I have no problem with the fact that I paid more than the promotion amount. I have a problem with not being allowed to convert my more expensive pass for the remaining term because I paid more. I find the spin they are using about how I can buy a new voucher and hold it until next year pretty annoying. I just spent $1800 on these passes and am not jumping to throw down more money at Christmas to get the deal. I guess we'll just miss this one. I'm sure it will save us money in the long run, because once my kids get to try the water parks I suspect we will always be buying those tickets...

I'm sitting on 3 tickets I cannot convert. Not thrilled either and still trying to decide what I will do as well.

Im sp happy for you but irritated with member services because they told me that this was not possible. I wasted an hour today. being transferred all around with no success. Then I read that is possible..

Member services told me the same thing today. I had asked more than a week ago and they had to research the answer for me.

They told me today that AP are not transferable and can't be upgraded. They also said they don't have the system to do the upgrade. If anyone is able to do this over the phone, ease let me know. They transferred me to ticket fulfillment and they said it was doc's job. So frustrating!

I'm sure this has to be done in person, at the parks, between today and Dec 31st. I would not have expected to be able to do the upgrade over the phone. We are lucky that we are here during the promotion time - our next trip starts January 1st, so we would have missed out also.

I just don't believe as sophisticated a company as wdw can't upgrade a ticket over the phone.

I believe all the non-phone policies have fraud prevention as their intent. For the same reason they wont tell you about leftover ticket days on the phone. Of course, it's not a technology problem. It's a policy they have chosen to implement.

Looking at doing this purchase. I have unused 4 day hoppers that I purchased from UT before the last price increase (a little over $1100). I order the voucher for the DVC PAP online. Go to a ticket window after using 1 day on the hoppers then upgrade for this PAP? Is the difference just refunded to a credit card? If I order the vouchers online, I have to pay upfront for the passes. So, I've already paid out over $1600 for 4 PAPs plus the initial $1100 for the 4 day hoppers. When I upgrade, do they just refund my credit card for the $1100 for the hoppers?:confused3

No refunds are given for the upgrade. I believe in your case as long as you'll be at Disney during the Oct-Dec time frame you would not need to order vouchers online, just go to the ticketing center and upgrade your UT hoppers to PAP's. The start date of the PAP will be the first date you used your PH ticket.

You will only be able to upgrade the hoppers to the PAP at the parks between now and 12/31/2012. And that is the only way to upgrade (i.e. use the value of the hoppers toward the cost of the PAP). If you purchase the PAP voucher over the phone, you will not be refunded the difference in cost between what you paid for the PAP and the hoppers.

Thanks for the replies. We won't be able to take advantage of this then since we won't be going to WDW before the end of this year.

You can still buy the discounted pass and use it for a trip next year. You'll get a voucher or will call email that you can use to pick up the APs on a 2013 trip. You just have to purchase the APs before Dec 31 of this year.

I have a question that may have been answered already - I bought DVC APs (not renewals) in November 2011 (so expire November 2012). We are going back in a couple weeks. I am not renewing because we aren't going back until November 2013 so I will buy the vouchers and hold to get this deal.

My question involves upgrading the current APs. I can't remember what I paid for them, but it was before the price increase. 1 - Is there a way to see what I paid for these, and 2 - Can I upgrade them?

If they were new APs purchased just before the price increase then you paid OVER the magic $399 and officialy because of that you won't be able to upgrade. (Gee Pay More and Receive Less!!!!) (If they were renewals you would have been able to upgrade! (Someone explain that logic!!!!)

Now, on the DVC board there is one poster who got a CM to uprade his new vouchers which cost MORE then the magic $399 price to the PAP, but I think it's going to be luck of the CM

I don't know why folks are not complaining to DVC. I sent an email and the response was basically "this is the first complaint we have had" Really? Are the rest of you just whining on here, becasue that's nto really effective.... so go on the website and send them a comment!

You must be a new Disney fan. Have you noticed how that IT shop works? "sophisticated" is not exactly the word I would use to describe it!:lmao: Probably should give you an insite into the overall operations of Disney!

I was able to do that yesterday. Didn't expect too, but he said let me check, and gave me the PAP and refunded me the $42 difference for toe passes. I was shocked. I told him I figured I couldn't do it but he did it anyway. I was very happy and have saved a lot of $$ with the 20% discount already!
