*** Upcoming 2013 Jan to March Disney Discount Offer : Details ***

That's lame-o! So how's that work? The DP is $55.59 and the kids DP is $17.16. The deluxe DP is $99.97 and $26.84 for kids. So instead of getting the deluxe for $26.84 they will take the difference between the DP and deluxe DP ($44.38) and add that to the kids DP?

Math:
Kids DP: $17.16 + Difference bet DP and Deluxe: $44.38 = $61.54

As opposed to:
Kids deluxe DP: $26.84

You got it, you pay the same upgrade to deluxe as you would've without a deal, but you start at the kids price for the standard plan.

This is clearly not as good a deal as free dining--particularly for folks with more kids under 9. It works for me because my kids are 9, 11 & 14. I've been debating about whether to get the meal plan, as the adult plan for the 11 yr old is a waste, this makes it work out a little better than the room only rate discount, which I'm not even sure I'll get.

Is it a guarantee that this deal will be the same when they open it to the public on Oct 10th?

Check out http://www.disneyrewards.com/offers Click on the first offer ("fantastic offer for kids of all ages") and you'll see that it says the offer will open to the general public on 10/10. It doesn't say that the room only discount comes available that same day, but that's how Disney has done it in the past.

Hello,
I am new here and this is my first post… I was wondering I could pick your brains? I’m trying to send my parents to WDW for a Christmas gift and that last time that they took me was 1987. I was originally thinking of booking the POFQ. I had read on a few websites that it’s smaller and the bus stops there first to pick-up guest and there is a better chance of getting a seat on the bus. Between my mom & dad they have had over 7 foot/ankle surgeries and walking for many hours does becomes an issue.

I have seen that Disney really doesn’t discount this resort for some reason.

I have a big favor to ask: I do not have a Disney Visa so I’ll have to wait for the GP sale on the Oct 10th. If anyone is calling would you be will to price this package for me?

I work in a hospital and would have to take the morning off and try to get thru on a pretty busy day.

I’m looking for the POFQ or PORR for Feb 3-7th 2 adults/standard view room/ basic 4 day Magic Your Way tickets.

I priced this 1 month ago with the AAA discount for POFQ and it came to $1150.00 ish.

I am trying to decide if I would be better booking this way and giving them a $600.00 Disney gift card for dining?

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Just wondering if the princess 1/2 marathon weekend will be excluded? I hope not!

Sorry, I don't have a Disney visa to call and check for you. I do, however, have time to kill this morning and I like playing with these numbers! :) I think I understand the new deal, based on what others have said, so here goes:

If your parents will use the standard dining plan (1 snack, 1 quick service meal, & 1 table service meal for each night of the reservation), then the new deal (available for you to book next week on 10/10) is a much better deal than the AAA discount. Rather than spending $600 on a gift card for dining you can book the standard dining plan for them with Disney for less than $140. You will lose the AAA discount, but based on the Disney website, your room & park ticket price will go up about $120, so you will "save" around $400 from your current plan. (I'm also factoring in $36 total savings on the park ticket price).

If your parents won't like the standard dining plan--either b/c they won't like the table service meal or the quick service meal then you might be better off switching resorts and getting the room-only discount. The 30% discount on a "preferred room" (closer to main building and bus spots) at POR, CBR & CSR may end up being less than POFQ. If you decide the meal plan deal isn't for you then you may want to ask the folks at AAA to play with the resort location and the room only discount and see what you get. Or call Disney direct after the deal is released next week--I generally find them very helpful.

Am I calcuating this right?? Totally confused :rotfl2:
We are 3 adults and one child (11 years old) staying for 5 nights (1/2-1/7), 6 days base tickets and either QSDP or regular DP. I've calcuated with the rack-rate and then the kids price for both tickets and dining:

Pop Century / Standard Pool View/Wheelchair access, roll-in shower/1 king bed, 1 double bed
Rack Rate: $650
Park Tickets kids price: $1040
QSDP kids price: $286,4
= $1976,40

Art of Animation Family Suite / Wheelchair access, roll-in shower/
Rack Rate: $1472
Park Tickets kids price: $1040
QSDP kids price: $286,4
= $2798

Port Orleans FQ/ Standard View/Wheelchair access with tub/ 2 queen beds
Rack Rate: $1029
Park Tickets kids price: $1040
Regular DDP kids price: $343,2
= $2412,20

Am I missing something here? :confused3

Anyone know if you can just pay $17,16/day for the regular dining plan while staying at a value resort?

Haha... Can't wait until 10/10!!!

melissarose i got kinda the same package as you..king bed standard room but the week before total $1970 :cool1:

I just called and got a price for a 2 bedroom savana view villa at AKV - 6 nts., 6 day base tickets, regular dining plan. 3 adults, 4 children. The price I got was $8,251.38. She couldn't tell me the specifics of the discount - just that the Stay/Play/Dine price came to $9478 and the other one came to $8251.38.

She says the rack rate is $10,720. When I looked it up online it only gave me standard view option - no savanna view -- so I can't confirm the rack rate she gave me. The standard view rack rate was $10,146.

Just wondering if the princess 1/2 marathon weekend will be excluded? I hope not!

When I spoke to a CM yesterday, I do believe that was included in the promotion. I don't think there's many blackout dates- all of January from the 2nd on seemed to be included in the promotion, at least, and I know MLK is usually a blackout date.

I booked the regular Marathon Weekend so I am assuming that the Princess Half Marathon Weekend will be included.

This is confusing! I'm going Feb 2-9 with 4 adults and 2 children aged 9 and 7. I was planning on getting two rooms at POR. Will I be able to get the discount for two rooms? Or would the other promotion with dining discount work better? :confused3

I would just talk to the CM when you call. The RO discount for POR is 30%, I think. I've heard as low as 5% though. I think it depends on the amount of rooms they have allocated for the promotion during your trip dates. In all, we saved a greater percentage of money with the package deal than with room only - but that was for a family of 5, park hopper, 8 nights - so your situation will be different. I'm no math major, but I would think that a RO discount might be better for you since you are getting two rooms.

Good luck! pixiedust:

Still not sure if we can get time off that early in the year - plus, have to talk DH into yet ANOTHER early anniversary trip to WDW ;-}

Would love to stay at Poly this time w/room-only discount & will be pricing out other options between now and next Wednesday!

Just wanted to add in here that the room discount IS available president's week (At least it is for Feb 18-21). So happy to find that! Now I need to decide if I want to keep LM or save $100 and go to POP preferred...

so annoyed - with myself and with the person I just spoke to

Booked AS Movies for 1/7 - 1/16 so 9 nights with the Disney Visa room only discount - she gave me a total of $901.74 ....now looking at it I don't think she applied the Visa discount (so annoyed with myself for not catching it!)

I'm on hold - can anyone run the numbers and tell me if I'm crazy? I went online and without the discount it's $949 so I"m not sure where $901 came from if it's a 25% discount (as on the 1st page of this thread)

help??!

It might not be a 25% discount for the room you are looking at. Just tell the CM that you want to price out a few other value resorts. Ask her specifically what % discount you are getting. HTH!! pixiedust:

I know, maybe after 10/10 I can stop obsessing about our trip...well, probably not!

I think you got it right--except according to http://www.disneyrewards.com/offers/wdwstayplaydineoct12 you can't get the "kids of all ages" discount at AofA.

I believe that in order to get the regular DP at a value resort you will have to pay the normal upgrade price (about $18 per adult per day), so for 4 adults and 5 nights you'll essentially pay $360 for 20 fewer quick service meals (1 per person, per day) but 20 more table service meals (1 per person, per day). If you won't miss those quick service meals then the $360 price for 5 separate table service meals for 4 adults is a good deal.

i had the same issue with the AKV I posted about a few posts back....... she could not tell me exactly what the discount was.....she just said that was the least expensive option that came up. It was definitely NOT 35% off the room portion which is what the RO offer says..... when I mentioned that she went into a long explanation about how it's a "tiered system" and can be anywhere from 5% off up to whatever depending on resort, dates, etc. I said that's not what the offer says -- it doesn't say "UP TO 35%", it says "35% off". She had no answer for me.

ETA: upon further recalculating, it may actually be 35% off. I was taking 35% off the price WITH tax and I'm sure the discount is off of the pre-tax total. So it does come out to about 35% off (can't say for sure b/c I can't get room only pricing on website for savanna view.) But she couldn't tell me what the exact discount was

If the promotion is the choice between a discount on rooms or an "adult pays kids prices for dining plan and park tickets" deal, then a 25% room only discount at WL for 2 adults for six nights would be better. We would save about $540. The adults pay kids prices would save us $480. So we would save more with a RO discount.
I am also doing a stay at WL, for 8 nights, and using that formula, the difference between this offer and 25% off RO is $2.78. Dying for Oct. 10 to roll around so I can find out for sure!
