hoop de do closing

Two years ago there was a long thread on the camping board that talked about the proposed DVC property planed for the area between FW and Wilderness Lodge.

There were survey stakes hammered in the ground, bulldozers at the old River Country and even a trail balloon just this summer (an actual real balloon floated to check site lines).

The rumored refurb that never happened, scheduled for right about now, and this construction may be part of the rumor of HDDR closing permanently.

Have you ever been to the Hotel Cheyenne? It is pretty weak. Definitely a notch below the All Stars. I can't imagine any DVC members being satisfied with that.

This is true, the Hotel Cheyenne is a gussied up Marriott Garden Inn. The only thing below it on the rung is the Hotel Santa Fe, which is a gussied up Days Inn:

I don't think the Buffalo Junction DVC plans had anything to do with the HDDR rumor. It's really to far away. I believe it did involve relocation of the Tri-Circle-D Ranch.

It seems those plans fell flat anyways.

There seemed to be some leaked plans in April that involved construction on the opposite side - the eastern shoreline of FW - but they were unclear what they actually represented. It indicated a new Pavilion building, which could have been a relocation of the existing one on the west side.

ahem!!! it is Hoop De Doo REVUE!!!! not "review".

a revue is a production ,including song and dance. you can "review" a "revue", but there is NO Hoop De Doo REVIEW.

sorry. drives me nuts!:rotfl:

I have heard the Hoop De Do Review at Fort Wilderness will be closing at the end of the year along with Trails End to make room for more DVC only areas, This means the beach and boat access will only be for DVC members only. So unfair to FW campers who love the campground.

"More DVC only areas"? Can you please tell me where there are any areas that are DVC only areas? I'm a DVC member and I have been for about 10 years and I still don't know of one DVC only area in any Disney Park, resort or any other area.:confused3 Even if they did build a DVC resort there the campers at FW would be able to use the boat access. You're going a little over the top.

The lounge at the top of Bay Lake Towers.

But haven't they been opening it up to additional guests lately due to lack of patrons?

I think it has been open to all DVC members, not just those staying at BLT, but I believe it is still restricted.

I have no problem with them building DVC only facilities. Especially since I'm a DVC member.

However, I wouldn't want them to start restricting a pre-existing public area like a beach.

Its open to anyone staying in BLT so you pay for it. That's like saying club level is restricted(you pay extra for it) or certain pools are restricted(like SAB where only guest of that resort can use it but those guests paid for it)

No it is not open to anyone staying there, it is open only to DVC members. If you pay cash to stay at BLT, you do not access.

It is strictly for DVC club members. In fact until recently it was only for DVC members staying there. They recently opened it to any DVC members staying at DVC resorts.

There have been a lot of reports of guests staying on points being able to access the lounge without being (or being accompanied by) a DVC member.

So while it appears to be a DVC exclusive location, it no longer appears to be a DVC MEMBER exclusive location.

It has never been clear on how the resorts distinguish between members and non-members staying on points, or that they do it properly. When the Internet became free to "DVC members staying on points", it seemed it also applied to others staying on points. Many non-members using points have "DVC MEMBER" on their KTTW cards, and sometimes that's all that is needed.

WHAT?!?!?! Hoop-De-doo is SO popular!!!! (and funny) I don't think they will be getting rid of it anytime soon!

There is no way this rumor is true. Hoop Dee Doo has been running since the 70's and is just as popular now as it was then. We have seen it 3 times and plan to see it again in June.

I certainly hope that is not true. I LOVE that show and have been going to it since I first went to Disney in 79. I want to take my four year old to it next time. She will absolutely love it.

The information I had was that this was true to an extent. It was supposed to be closed starting in August, but plans changed. There ARE plans out there that involve shutting down both places, but u believe they are supposed to be moved. However, those are dependant on the dvc plans which were put in hold in favor of the grand flo dvc. I think the poly is next in line for a dvc makeover so I personally don't see HDD closing anytime soon

I read on epcyclopdeida.com that permits that had expired for the new DVC resort at Fort Wilderness have been refiled. I imagine that work will restart/continue on this project. With the GF DVC set to open next fall, it makes sense. We've been trying to figure out what the hotel theme will be. Something log cabinish is probably too similiar to WL so were excited to see what they'll be doing.

I do know for quite a few years now DVC members had been suggesting over & over that River Country should be renovated and reopened as a DVC recreation area. WHen I heard that I suggested it to my DVC guide also.
