Magic Goes Texan! Eight Crazy Nights (3/1/2013 Bahamas)

Hello:)
We just booked this vacation last week on the Fantasy.
It will be my DH(Bob), myself(Crystal) and DD(Kaprisha (4))
This will be dh and my 4th cruise (3rd on the Magic) and dd's very 1st

We are not familiar with the Houston area and are not sure where to stay and such.... So if anyone receives any good advice or knows of anything please let us know :)

So glad to be going back on the Magic. The Fantasy is beautiful and awsome but she just has something missing that the Magic has :cloud9::cloud9::cloud9:

hey Denise

Really wanting to do the fasntasy at some point maybe for when my DD graduates High School.

But what was it about the Fantasy that you liked and did not like more or less than the Magic.

I am definitley kicking myself, we had found a GREAT deal for this week, and decided not to do it. It was more than a half price of the Rack rate for a balcony room on the Fantasy 2 stops in CC......ugh why am i not a CC today!!:scared1:

Instead we are in Ocen CIty MD, Not horrible, (def not the Fantasy) (or Magic)

I have done the Magic 4 times and the Wonder 1time. There was no main difference tht i found with those 2 ships. Really didnt feel like i was on 2 different ships.

wow, this thread is soooooo boring it is honestly making me rethink the cruise.

On one hand, if we dont have many sailors (HA) we might end up with discounts, on the other i am so uninterested cuz noone is around to talk with.

CAN WE SAY MAYBE A CARNIVAL CRUISE.

My Adult son and his wife are on the Royal Carribbean, Oasis of the Seas, RIGHT NOW!!

They seem to be having a Great time from all reports and we have been looking at some teen room videos about it with my Youngest DD.

The verndah rooms for these cruises are about $400 to $600 less expensive than the Magic or the Fantasy.

My big concern here is, that since i started my new job i wont be able to get the week plus off that i want for this cruise.

I will find out soon.:confused3

Boo Hiss to the Carnival Cruise!!

I am so sorry to have been away for a (ridiculously) long time!! We have been in the middle of the longest move ever...it's high season here at the beach and the houseguests just keep coming...Lilia is swimming on the swim team and that is practically a full time job...and my WiFi connection only works in one room of the new house. But today I discovered the Dis Boards iPhone App, and I am back!!

Welcome new cruisers! I know it seems like a long way off, but our adventure is only nine months away! Lynn, I am excited to hear about your son's RC cruise. I hope you're all doing well.

Has anyone made any Houston plans yet?

Me too i cant wait to hear all about it.

That is Krazy about your internet, You shouodl have someone look at that.

I know kids will def keep a parent feeling like a taxi driver.

I am just still keeing my fingers crossed that i can make it to the port in time at this point i don tthibk i will be able o take any time off for Houston.

WAH!!!:mad::sad1:

My kids had a wonderful time on the Oasis!!!

We ae definitley doing some soul searching to see if this is what we want to do or not.

I have read a REALLY GREAT trip report about the comparison of the Magic to the Allure which is the equal of the Oasis.

I have looked at pricing for the Middle of Summer and a Cruise on the Fantasy in June for a family of 4 compared to a cruise on the Oasis for a family of 4 is a savings of @ $2000.

That is comparing a equally sized Balconey room.

There are also the Balconey rooms that over look the board walk and the park for about $600 less.

I still have a bit of time to make my decision.

I just dont want to go on another vacation and wish i was on a Disney Ship.

But we have 2 more REAL vacations to take with our Youngest DD and How will we know if Dh and i can take something different than a DCL if we dont try it out:confused3

Well, it looks like your decision may have just gotten easier. Did you get your revised itinerary yet? We are going to have to make a drastic change, I think. There is no way I am flying all the way to Houston, only to get in a ship and cruise all the way back to Port Canaveral. That is crazy!

I got the phone call while i was at work today about the itenerary change .

So we will be canceling too.

UGH!

I understand the change and that many have been asking for this coming out of Texas. But same for us, we dont need a port day in Port Canaveral.

ENJOY YOUR CRUISE!

Not sure who's still on, but we just booked this cruise. We moved to the Texas Hill Country two months ago, so Galveston really makes sense for us. We've never been to Florida so WDW will be fun. It's myself, my DH and my DD who will be 8 when we cruise.

Our family loved seeing the Magic arrive in Galveston (at least on line) and thought the cowboy hat was very cute. Can't wait to be aboard. Just over five months now.

We booked this cruise about a month ago, specifically for this itinerary and because it goes out of TX, we live a short 1.5 hour drive away from the port. Have cruised out of Galveston many times, but not on Disney (did the Wonder many years ago out of Port Canaveral). Watched the Disney Magic go out last Saturday, and cruise out on the Carnival Magic last Sunday (just got back home this a.m.).
Now ready to start talking about this cruise! Anyone still here?
Laenie

Greetings Laenie,
We're still here. How was the Carnival Magic cruise? We're looking forward to cruising out of Galveston as well. It seems that several people who were on the cruise have cancelled, hopefully as we get closer this board will get more active.

Hi Sherri,
We had a fantastic time on the Carnival Magic, but...as I always say, any cruise is better than no cruise!! :lmao: Haven't found a cruise I didn't enjoy!

I have two other cruises planned before taking this one on Disney's Magic, but have been waiting for tours to open up so I can look at what will be offered. I am super excited that we will be heading to DisneyWorld for the day!
Elaine

We're excited about Disney World as well. We've spent lots of time at Disneyland but have never been to the world. My husband is very excited about the Kennedy Space Center, so I think he will go there and our daughter and I will go to Epcot and Animal Kingdom. Not really sure what we're going to do in Key West yet.
Where are your other cruises?
Sherri

They just added a KSF promotion for this cruise so perhaps we'll get a few more cruisers soon. We used on our OBD for this cruise, but KSF will still save us nearly 10 percent, so I think I'm going to switch. That means I'll have to use the OBD on another cruise. Darn the luck!
